2003 AWARD WINNERS & PARTY At this year’s Hannover Messe show, IEN (Industrial Engineering News) Europe, the leading Pan-European Industrial magazine and its national sister publications TR (Technische Revue) in Germany, PEI (Produits Equipments Industriels) in France, and IEN Italia in Italy gave out their ‘Editor's Choice New Product Award’ for the most innovative new product of the year in the Industrial markets. As shown below this year’s winners were awarded according to the following categories: IEN New Product Award TR New Product Award PEI New Product Award IEN Italia New Product Award The Award ceremony - in its sixth year - was well complemented by the IEN party (see photos on next page) during which many revellers including exhibitors and members of the IEN team even joined in Karaoke sessions. We look forward to having an eventful gathering again next year. Don’t miss it!

To collect the IEN Europe Innovative New Product Award (from left) are PiezoMotor Uppsala’s Chairman Adam Dahlberg and CEO Per Oskar Lithell, shaking hands with IEN’s Editor Silvester Adegbotolu, and Publisher Marketta Lähde between them.

Dr. Fritz Faulhaber won TR’s Award and were represented by (from left) Andreas Seegen and a proud Rolf Maurer, as TR’s Editor Winfried Schmidt looks on.

It’s all smiles with the Camozzi team as they show off their Award, while IEN Italia’s Editor Christian Son (second from left) and Publishing Director Giovanni Cerrina Feroni (far right) look on.

Linear Piezo Motor

Tiny DC Micromotor

Handheld Environmental Testers

walks instead of rotates

with no-load speeds of 19,900rpm

connects up to 32 coils, addresses space concerns

with shock-proof sheath for robustness

This linear piezo motor from PiezoMotor is based on a unique drive principle - a motor that walks instead of rotates. The active motor element consists of four piezo legs. By precisely synchronising the movement of the legs, the motor can 'walk' with a speed of up to several centimeters per second and with a resolution down to 10 nanometers. The motor can reach a pulling force of up to 8N - without drive screws, gears or other mechanical intermediate components. The small overall dimensions make the motor well suited for applications were space is limited. The motor can also operate on battery voltage. The manufacturer can adapt the motor to fit different OEM applications. This is believed to be a breakthrough in piezo electric motors as the motor combines power, resolution and speed in a very small package, which is very difficult to achieve.

Faulhaber recognised for its development in the field of DCMicrometer technology, offers a subminiature line of DCMicromotors and Planetary Gearheads, further extending the company's range of precision Miniature Drive Systems. The ironless DC-Micromotor, Type 0615-S measures only 6mm in diameter and 15mm in length, weighing only 2g. The DC-Micromotors are available in nominal voltages of 1.5, 3 and 4.5Vdc, with no-load speeds of 19'900 rpm, stall torque of 0,23mNm and output power of 0.12W. Also available are matching in-line Planetary Gearheads, Type 06/1 with corresponding diameter of only 6mm. They feature precision machined gears and housings in all metal design for operating temperatures up to +100°C, available in ratios of 4:1 up to 4'096:1. The maximum output torque in continuous operation is 25mNm and in intermitted 35mNm.

CHAUVIN ARNOUX has been developing a range of environmental testers for the last three years. This range of 13 instruments called the Physics Line, distinguishes itself by three common characteristics: ease of use, a light casing designed to provide a maximum degree of comfort, and a shockproof sheath for increased solidity. This range, designed for the maintenance technicians, now features 5 different measurements to enable users to carry out diagnostics: Temperature, Humidity, Gas detection, Sound, and Light. The handheld instruments can easily fit in a pocket.

Camozzi’s new solenoid valve family series Y represents the ideal solution for all applications where the following is required: great flexibility, simple, assembly, economic and safe (IP 65), positioning in limited spaces, a high flow, the necessity to have differentiated pressure zones and different electrical connection solutions - and all this achieved with a limited number of components. The electronics enables checking of the number of positions of the connected coils. With an initial module, it is possible to connect up to 32 coils distributed between the initial and the expansion modules which may be available as a unique or ramified structure (up to 8m between the islands). One particular circuit is able to recognize the number of outlets (coils) that can be used by the initial module, whilst the remaining outlets are available on the expansion modules which in turn are equipped with the same circuit, enablin use of all 32 outlets.
