Trial Lock Down Tomorrow morning at 10.20am we will have having a trial lock down. This is part of our health and safety processes. The trial is designed to prepare everybody at school in terms of what to do in the event of a lock down, while also providing us with an opportunity to test our processes. Teachers will be telling their classes in advance about the lock down.

Reminders  

Swimming Pool Keys This is a 'hat term.' Please ensure your child has their named school hat at school every day. For the sake of safety we ask that you inform us ahead of time if your child is not going to be at school. Please use either the designated telephone number (410 9551) or the absence option on the tiqbiz school app. Haven't downloaded the app yet? Please see below how to do this. The app is an important communication tool.

You are now able to purchase a key for the swimming pool to use over the summer between 18 December and mid March 2016.

The cost of the key will be $80.00 and there are limited numbers of keys available. Keys will be given on a ‘first come - first served’ basis once payment has been received.

Keys can be purchased via the online payment portal ONLY. Either click on the link on the school website - under Campbells Bay School Online Payments or use the tiqbiz app online payment portal.

A copy of the contract / rules will be given to you with your key Should you require a copy of this before you purchase a key, please collect from the school office.

Chicken Pox Just to make your aware, we have had reports of cases of chicken pox at school. Please keep this in mind if your child is unwell and has not had chicken pox or been vaccinated.

Travelwise News! Congratulations CBS! Last Wednesday Room 9 organised a Wacky Wednesday and Carless Day Challenge. Fantastic data was recorded in the bus bay by Rm 9. On the previous Wednesday 179 cars were counted in the bus bay. On ‘The Carless Day’ challenge only 31 cars were counted. That is an 83% improvement! Well done CBS! Summer is almost here and the challenge continues. Be Travelwise and reduce car congestion outside CBS.

Friends of Campbells Bay School (FOCBS) Coordinator Position Available (Paid) A paid (fixed term) position has been created for 2016 to help ensure FOCBS is a focus for parent/caregivers of the school’s community so parent/caregivers participation is increased as they become involved in assisting with the organisation of FOCBS events throughout the year. In essence, the FOCBS Coordinator will be responsible for leading this organisation while providing numerous opportunities for members of our school community to become involved with FOCBS. It is anticipated the coordinator will work, an average of eight to ten hours per week (term time only), reporting to the principal. Book Fair Dates

Dates for your diary! Our Campbells Bay school book week and book fair will be held from Monday 30 November to Friday 4 December. WED 2 DECEMBER IS GRANDPARENTS’ MORNING (If you don’t have a grandparent nearby, it is also a ‘Special Person Morning’). Our school is celebrating books and reading during Book Week. Your grandchildren would like to invite you to a special grandparents’ morning on Wednesday 2 December from 9:15am until 11:00am.

IMPORTANT: Sports/Cultural Photos Photos will be taken on Wednesday 18 November. Photos this time are for all students whose team photos did not occur last time because of a school trip (Years 5 & 6) i.e. Summer netball, summer hockey, touch, gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline, cross country team and the swimming team. Photos will also be taken for the following: Orchestra, APPA choir, Mid Bays’ Schools choir, Mid Bays dance, Kapa Haka, Waterwise, athletics team and chess club. All students involved are to wear the school uniform and NOT the sporting uniform.

Ticket Purchases for APPA Choir Festival Tickets for our big night are still available from Ticketmaster - just enter ‘Town Hall’ in the search engine and the event will come up. We look forward to seeing you all there on Wednesday 18 November - it’s going to be an awesome evening!! Jenny Watt

North Shore Schools’ Trampoline Competition Last week three Campbells Bay students, Tayla Helms, Evie Natusch and Teo Morris-Mandell, jumped in the annual North Shore trampoline competition. They had to execute a series of agilities in a bouncing routine and were excellent representatives of our school. Well done team.

WEETBIX TRYATHLON:

Weetbix Tryathlon registrations are now open. CBS will be sending a school team. There has been a change of venue and the event will no longer take place at Narrow Neck Beach. The new venue is Manly Park Whangaporaoa. The North Shore event is now called the Hibiscus Coast event and will take place on the 3 April 2016. Early bird discount rates apply and all necessary information can be found on the official Weetbix Tryathlon website. You can enter as an individual and do the swim, bike and run or as a 2 person team where one person does the swim, the other the bike and both team members do the run. Only online registrations are accepted and no registrations or entries will be taken through the school office. During the online registration process select Campbells Bay School as your team option. The Beach series is once again up and running. It takes place on a Tuesday evening down at Takapuna Beach. There is a schools points competition so make sure you select Campbells Bay as your school when you register. The kids 2.5km beach run starts at 5:50pm from in front of the Takapuna Boating Club. It is a great way to keep fit, interact with other families in our community and take in the wonderful surroundings we are blessed with on the North Shore.More information and details can be found on the official Harcourts Beach Series website.
