Reminders  

Swimming Pool Keys This is a 'hat term.' Please ensure your child has their named school hat at school every day. For the sake of safety we ask that you inform us ahead of time if your child is not going to be at school. Please use either the designated telephone number (410 9551) or the absence option on the tiqbiz school app. Haven't downloaded the app yet? Please see below how to do this. The app is an important communication tool.

There are still keys available to purchase for the swimming pool, for use over the summer between 18 December and mid March 2016.

The cost of the key will be $80.00 and there are limited numbers of keys available. Keys will be given on a ‘first come - first served’ basis once payment has been received.

Keys can be purchased via the online payment portal ONLY. Either click on the link on the school website - under Campbells Bay School Online Payments or use the tiqbiz app online payment portal.

A copy of the contract / rules will be given to you with your key Should you require a copy of this before you purchase a key, please collect from the school office.

Friends of Campbells Bay Bay School - Second-Hand Uniform Sale – Term Four, 2015 The Friends of Campbells Bay School (FOCBS) will be running a second-hand uniform sale at school on Thursday 17 December 8:00am until 9:00am.

Helpers for the sale – Thursday 17 December at 7:45am in PA room to help sell, (email beccahammondslt@gmail.com/text 021 129 5273 to let me know if you are available). Helpers get first pick of the items! Year six students will be given the option to wear mufti on Thursday 17 December to allow their uniforms to be sold should they want to. Buyers: Please come to the sale with cash or cheque only. Friends of Campbells Bay School Mufti Day – Wed 9 December Please bring in a small brand new $2.00 shop children’s type gift or $2.00 to be used for the lucky dip at the twilight fun night. Proceeds will help keep the prices of the other rides down to $2.00!

$15  Bring the clean unwanted uniform to the school office any day leading up to the sale  Please ensure that you have completed all the registration information and securely attached your pricing tag to your items. We need to be able to track each item sold or returned to the registration form to be able to pay you correctly.

Lost Property

FOCBS will collect 20% of the sale price to cover administration costs and as a fundraiser for the benefit of the school. After each sale, we will pay you in cash for the items sold (ie, 80% of the sales price) or return your unsold items. The cash and unsold items will be available at the school office on Wednesday 3 February or you can text me to collect it earlier as required. Donations of uniforms - FOCBS gratefully accept any donations of uniforms, 100% of these sales will be collected for the benefit of the school. We aim to price donated good quality uniforms at half the price of new uniforms. Please drop off donated uniforms at the school office.

Library books The last day to issue library books this year is Wednesday 25 November. All library books need to be returned to school by Wednesday 9 December. Thanks.

Book Week Character Parade The grand finale to Book Week is the Book Character Parade held on Friday 4 December. Children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite character from their favourite book. The parade will be held on the courts outside the hall at the following times. 9:15am Year 3/4 9:45am Year 0/1/2 10:15am Year 5/6 All parents and caregivers are most welcome but it is not compulsory! If it is raining the parade will be relocated to the school hall with limited space for an audience :(

Grandparents’ Day - Wednesday 2 December Please ensure your grandparents know what classroom numbers they are going to. What will happen on the day: 9:00 - 9:15am Grandparents accompany children into class. 9:45am

Parent Session on Creating Life Long Readers TUESDAY 1 DECEMBER 2:00 - 2:45PM

An Invitation to all Parents and Caregivers Do your children love reading? Would you like them to? We are pleased to announce that Rob Southam from Scholastic will be our guest speaker at our Book Week parents session tomorrow. Rob is an expert on how to get children to love reading. Pre-schoolers welcome in the Library. 30 Minute talk to parents on practical ways to ensure your child becomes a lifelong reader. Rob Southam has teaching experience across a variety of age groups and primary teachers, and parents. Rob’s work around recreational reading is well known through all sectors of NZ Education, and she has presented at two International Literacy Conferences. Rob has been awarded Rotary’s highest Award, she is a Paul Harris Fellow, for her contribution to literacy in New Zealand. Rob is also the current holder of the annual Children’s Literature Betty Gilderdale Award for her outstanding contribution to children’s literature Rob is currently working at Scholastic New Zealand.

Interschool Athletics Well done to all the amazing athletes who competed in the Interschool Athletics competition last Monday 23 November. The children had to work so hard at our CBS trials to make the team and they made CBS very proud on the day. There were many children who did personal bests and lots of wonderful children who received certificates on the day for getting a top three placing. Their top three placing’s added up to helping our school be the second top school overall. Well done athletes!!

Hockey 2015 As hockey is coming to an end for 2015, we can take a look back and be very proud of our achievements over the year. We had a number of teams who were very successful over terms 2 and 3. These teams were invited to attend the North Harbour Primary Schools Hockey Prize Giving on the last day of term 3 to celebrate and acknowledge their achievements. Our Year 3 and 4 teams were particularly well represented on the night. Congratulations to the following teams and players on their success: CBS Hawks- Taylor Daji, James Charlesworth, Edward Caisley, Edan Keeley, Oskar Morris-Mandell and Felix Creasy – second Year 3 and 4 Boys A grade CBS Sharks- Toby Worrall, Jamie Maunder, Theo Manning, Luca Anderson, Marlon Carkeek, Oliver Day, Ryan Knight and Ben Davidson- second Year 3 and 4 Boys D grade CBS Falcons- Sam Brown, Joe Leith, Asher Mendell, Alex Foster, Callum Keer-Keer, Dylan Porter and James Burrowssecond Year 3 and 4 Boys E grade CBS Magic- Daniella Hall, Abby Duncan, Maddy Ford, Holly Karathanasis, Drew Briggs, Carla Pethers-Boak and Ashley Brown- joint winners of the Year 3 and 4 Girls A grade CBS Whitestix- Monique Ellington, Georgia Luxford, Libby Cairn, Hannah Moore, Anya Young, Freya Caisley and Kayla Mc Hugh- second in the Year 5 and 6 Girls Development B grade Congratulations to Samantha Hall, a former CBS student and current year 8 Murrays Bay student, for winning the most valuable contribution by a coach award in the development division. Samantha coached the CBS Whitestix team to finishing second in their grade. This was Samantha’s first time coaching and an outstanding effort. Well done and thank you Sammy! In the final assembly of term three, our various CBS hockey prize winners were acknowledged and presented their trophies. CBS is proud of Badyn Dixon, Cameron Maunder, Lucas Day, Josh Peachey-Hale, Mairav Rajput, Callum Walker, Alex Logan, Sophie Tucker and Lucy Leith who attended the Year 5 and 6 North Harbour Hockey trials. They were selected to take part in the 8 week North Harbour Reps Development Programme which ended with a festival day on 15 November. A big congratulation goes to all of them. Thank you again to all the coaches and managers who have given up their time to help with the successful running of both winter and summer hockey for 2015. We really appreciate your time, effort and support.

Zac Manning from 6B recently went to Sydney for a Fencing competition representing his club JF Fencing . The Friendship Cup attracted 320 competitors from 60 clubs in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia. In the under 11 boys Foil Zac came 13th overall and he also made it into the elimination rounds in the under 13 boys Foil. Zac’s efforts culminated in a Bronze medal in the under 11 team event, a great achievement.
