Official Opening COMING UP TUESDAY 25 AUGUST  Hearing and Vision Technicians at school  Year 5 and 6 Cross Country – 11:00am WEDNESDAY 26 AUGUST  Year 5 and 6 Cross Country save a day FRIDAY 28 AUGUST  Daffodil Day

Thanks to everybody who made the official opening of the MLE Building on Thursday such a success. Feedback has been extremely positive and it has been wonderful to receive so many affirming comments from members of our community. Thank you. Year 3 - 6 children who were at the opening ceremony did us proud with their behaviour (outstanding) and their performances (outstanding). Question and answer time with the Prime Minister was both informative and entertaining. He engaged with our children so well and the children responded in kind. Although the visit by the Prime Minister was shortened (because of flight delays), he managed to fit a great deal into his time with us, including a ‘walk about’ with those children not at the official opening.

FRIDAY 4 SEPTEMBER  Swimming Competition (selected students)

WELCOME Danielle Irvine Charlotte Handley Florian Shaw

TERM DATES 2015 Term 3 20 July – 25 September Term 4 12 October – 17 December 2016 Term 1 2 February – 15 April Term 2 2 May – 8 July

Important Notice for Parents of Year 4, 5 & 6 Students On Friday afternoon you should have received a notice from Nikki Urlich providing an update on the MLE and an invitation to open sessions in the MLE. Given the sometimes unreliable nature of Student Mail (!) we are alerting you to this important communication. If perchance you did not receive the aforementioned notice, please search your child’s bag and if that is not successful please email Nikki for a copy. For those of you who did receive the notice please return the form at the end of the notice whether you are going to attend a session or not as we want to make sure you have all received this notice. Thanks. nikkiu@campbellsbay.school.nz

School Uniform Reminder Please ensure your children arrive at school each day in their correct uniform. There have been some variations when it comes to the wearing of appropriately coloured socks (navy blue) and shoes (black or navy blue). There have also been some children wearing non CBS polar fleeces. Please ensure your children wear the prescribed CBS uniform. We will be continuing school uniforms checks. Should you have any problems fitting out your child in the school uniform, please do not hesitate to contact me so we can discuss this. John McGowan

With our increasing school roll and given the time of the year when there is a lot of sickness and it is nice to take a family break away, can we please remind you to advise the school office if your child is going to be absent? Even if you have advised your child’s teacher it is important to also let the school office know for safety reasons as they will be updating the school’s absence register. If your child is going to be late ie: at a doctor’s appointment or away sick, please call or email before 9:00am. Please do not send your child to school if they are unwell. You can either email safetycheck@campbellsbay.school.nz or phone our 24/7 absence line on 410 9551. To help reduce the number of calls made by the office to parents please email or call for each day your child is sick. It is a Ministry of Education requirement if your child is going to be away on holiday for more than a day that you request permission from the principal. You can either email your request to admin@campbellsbay.school.nz or pick up a form from the school office.

Further photos of the Prime Minister’s visit will be published next week.

Olympic Qualifying Success Congratulations to Kayla Imrie (Teacher Aide) who qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics yesterday in the Kayak WK4.

MATHATHON Update Congratulations to Room 2, Room 4 and Room 25 who have raised an average of over $30.00 per student! You are our top three classes. You have won a mufti day, date to be decided soon. The competition has been tight with many classes coming in just under. Thank you for this outstanding effort! After a fortnight of collection we are just short of our 2015 target of $20,000. Mr McGowan has agreed to keep the sponsorship open in the hopes to make $20,000 by next Monday. If we make this target Mr McGowan will be dressing up as either Spider Man or Monsters Inc. for a day! Any blue forms or sponsorship still to be brought into school will count, please bring it in by the end of the week.

See page 6 for details ________________________________________________________________________________________________
