Particular thanks to Sharon Knight for training our choir (as part of the combined schools' choir) and the instrumental group, to Nicole Rowland for training the dancers for our school item and to Serena Story for being the stage manager for the festival.

Jammies in June at CBS on Thursday 25 June! Last year our school community achieved phenomenal results. Cash and pyjamas (brand new and barely used) were donated and I know they were warmly received as the principal of the school receiving the pyjamas said the response from families in his very low decile school was humbling. Yes, I know we are often being asked to give. However, on the whole, we are a community that is in the fortunate position to be able to give. I hate the thought of children in our country begin cold, especially in bed when they need their sleep. If you can do something to help the Middlemore Foundation I am sure it will be greatly appreciated. So we can 'do our bit' and perhaps a little more, on Thursday 25 June we will be having a Pyjama Day. This involves children being encouraged to bring a new pair or a near new pair of freshly laundered flannelette pyjamas to donate to the Middleton Foundation. A cash donation instead of a pair of pyjamas would be welcome if this suits you better. Children also have the option of wearing pyjamas to school on this day but please note, it is voluntary. You can expect to see some teachers in their 'onesies' on this day as well!

CBS Learning Hub Clubs and Events Do you have a hidden talent or passion you would love to share? If the answer is yes then the learning hub needs you!! We are looking to set up some lunchtime activities in our wonderful new learning hub. It could be teaching a small group of children how to knit in our hui pod, reading your favourite children’s stories in our viewing hub, or making movies in our tech hub. The opportunities and ideas are endless. If you would like to run a regular club or one off event in any of our learning hubs please contact christinem@campbellsbay.school.nz

Buddy Reading Buddy Reading for this term will finish on Tuesday 30 June and restart on Monday 27 July, Week 1 on Term 3.

Forest Clean Up Last Thursday we had a super group of enthusiastic parents and students who helped to clean up the community forest. We found all sorts of things in the forest that were not so good for the plant life! Thank you to those who helped do a service for our community. Keep a look out for the forest clean up next term.

Screaming in Room 14 Edvard Munch's 'The Scream' was the inspiration for our crazy hair art work. We have been using water colours as a medium to show texture and movement. To create the hair we put drops of paint on the picture and blew through a straw to create the crazy hair going in all directions. Phoenix paid particular attention to his hair, getting down low to the paper and blowing the paint in many directions.

Kayaking Gold for 'Our Kayla' One of our support staff, Kayla, has recently achieved gold and bronze medals in kayaking. She won gold in the World 1 event in Portugal in the womens' K4 500 and bronze in the World 2 event in Germany in the womens' K2 200. Kayla is working towards qualifying for the Rio Olympics. Should she continue to achieve these sort of results qualification should be well within her grasp.

Workshop to help Children In August and September there is a one-day group training workshop called the FRIEDNDS programmes, which help children cope with feelings of fear, worry and depression by building resilience and self-esteem and teaching cognitive, behavioural and emotional skill in a structured full day workshop. For more information visit www.jennybell.co.nz.

Congratulations and best wishes, Kayla.
