“I have had a full life with much happiness and a share of sadness. I have little cause for complaint. If however, some people in New Zealand feel I have made some contribution to the prestige of my country, then they could best demonstrate this by continuing to support the Himalayan people I have worked with for so many years” If there was ever a time to honour Sir Edmund’s call, it’s now. The people in his beloved Everest region have suffered great losses. The schools and hospitals he built over forty years have been damaged and, in many cases, destroyed. The organisation that he founded, the Himalayan Trust, is dedicated to rebuilding these communities and to build them back better — so they are safe and earthquake resistant. This week, at CBS, our classes will be building mountains for Nepal. Each class will build a mountain from their donations. All donations, no matter how big or small, will help build a safer community in Nepal. We will be giving our donations to the Himalayan Trust to use on behalf of his vision. Please, help us build mountains. Did you know: On 29 May 1953 (62 years ago), Hillary and Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest.

“Not Self, but Service”

Wow our new Learning Hub is soooo cool (Not Self, but Service) Well done to all the students who are able to return, issue and re-shelf their own books. Keep it up!! At CBS we were fortunate enough to be able to buy a whole lot of new books and hence old books needed to be weeded out. We were able to help out a Decile 1 school in Hamilton who had no books in their library. See below a photo of them reading our CBS books - they love them! Joe Lanning, LIT Campbells Bay School
