Fire in the Forest

2014 Term 4 13 October—17 December

2015 Term 1 3 February—2 April Term 2 20 April—3 July Term 3 20 July—25 September Term 4 12 October—18 December

There was a significant fire in the Community Forest on Saturday afternoon. The fire destroyed approximately a 20m x 20m area of the forest near the boundary of the forest and Beach Road homes. Very fortunately the fire was contained by the Fire Service before the fire got to the forest boundary. This is a very upsetting event. Not only is the forest something that is very special to the school; it is an asset to our wider community and a place where all our children are involved as part of the school programme. Those responsible for lighting the fire that caused the damage are being dealt with.

Dogs at School If you have a dog and you bring it to school, please ensure your dog is always on a leash at school and is under your control. While dogs are a part of our way of life and children need to get accustomed to being around dogs, it is very important that our children are safe and feel safe at school when dogs are around. Hence, we require all dogs to be on a leash and under the direct control of an adult.

Many thanks to Becca Hammond and Bronwyn Johnson for organizing such an amazing Quiz Night last week.

Brotherton,

Gymnastics Campbells Bay sent 82 children to compete in the North Harbour Gymnastics Competition this week. They had to execute a routine on four different apparatus’ in front of the other competitors, a judge and the parents in the gallery. They spent weeks learning routines on floor, bar, vault and girls beam and boys pommel. They were fantastic and the school community should feel very proud of the way they represented our school. They won a stash of certificates and medals and we look forward to seeing them in school assembly soon. Thank you from SPCA and Save the Children Many thanks for everyone who donated with a gold coin last Friday towards the SPCA and Save the Children. The children took part in dressing up as their favourite animal—many varied ways. $563 donation was sent to Canteen last week for the mad hat day.

Waterwise News Congratulations to Michael Judd who passed his Waterwise Instructors Certificate last week, with flying colours. We look forward to working with you at the Lake Michael- thank you! “Not Self, but Service”
