WOW we were so lucky to show off our AMAZING school to our grandparents and special friends on Wednesday 19 November. It was great to share all the cool things we have been doing during book week. It was all about a sharing your love for reading and books. Thank you to all the grandparents and special people who were part of this very special day.

Class Parties/Shared Lunches As the end of the school year approaches so does the season for 'class parties' or 'shared lunches' that can take a number of forms but a common denominator is usually that of a sugary feast! In keeping with the trial of not sharing sweet treats, classes that are having some kind of sharing party or lunch to signify the approach of the end of the school year should comply with the following: The party or shared lunch foods provided for such an occasion should reflect a balance of foods. Basically, we are asking parents to provide healthy food with a minimum of sugary treats, bearing in mind that 'sugar loading' is not the aim of the celebration. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated. Please note that class teachers have plenty to do, especially at this time of the year, so they will not be acting as food inspectors; hence your support by providing non sugar laden food items will be most appreciated. Thanks. I am well aware that what constitutes healthy eating is in the eye of the beholder, with many opinions on the matter. I, for one, am not qualified to pass scientific or medical judgement in absolute terms regarding what is and is not healthy. In this context, we simply ask that, if you are contributing to a shared eating experience at school, you consider items such as fruit/carrot sticks/sandwiches/pop corn or savoury muffins as a few examples. You will find a huge number ideas by going to www.kidspot.co.nz and clicking on party food.

Horse Riding with International Students
Change of Student Details
Last week our international students and families went horse riding at Woodhill Forest in Muriwai. They had a fantastic day trekking through the forest and enjoying lunch down by the beach. A great way to see a different part of New Zealand.
If your child’s address or phone number has changed recently, please let the school office know as soon as possible. As it is nearing the end of the year, we may be sending out information, and we do need to make sure our records as correct. If your child is leaving Campbells Bay School at the end of this and moving onto another school or overseas, please could you inform us by a written letter, so that we can take their name off our class placements for next year. Thank you for co-operation.

Cricket at Eden Park Last Wednesday our top boys and girls cricket teams had the opportunity to play at Eden Park in the Champion of Champions tournament. This is where all the winners from the various regional tournaments play each other. Both teams had an awesome day, showing great sportsmanship and putting on a display of great batting, bowling and fielding. The girls were able to pull themselves together after an early injury saw one of their players having to go to A & E. This meant Lizzie Blount had to play despite having an arm in a cast - her one handed batting was still pretty impressive! The boys were able to put in a solid performance and narrowly missed out on a top 4 placing. Both teams finished 5th overall. It was an awesome experience and a cool venue to play at. Izzy Gaze, who captained the side, was named player of her team and the boys' player of the team was Ryan Morell. Both of them received a cricket shirt. Girls Team: Izzy Gaze, Lizzie Blount, Katie Clark, Katie Booth, Georgia Crawford, Summer Carkeek, Olivia Kirk, Ella Hine, Charlotte Ronalde Boys Team: Noah Robb, Carlo Robb, Rhys Pattimore, Ryan Morell, Matthew Gell, William Marquez, William Spicer, James Houliston, Cooper Heath, Andrew Jacobi Thank you to the parents who helped out with transport and supported the players on the day. A huge thank you goes to Mark Spicer who took the boys and has been involved with boys cricket at CBS for a number of years as he has had two sons playing. His family is moving on from primary school now so we wish them all the best. Another huge thank you goes to Prue Fagg who has given up countless lunchtimes over many years to coach our cricket girls. This is her last year doing this so many thanks goes to her. She has encouraged many girls to have a go at cricket and given them the opportunity to learn the essential skills to play. Please note these people now leave huge gaps for next year - anyone interested in helping with cricket in Term 1 should contact me at lizb@campbellsbay.co.nz There is a chance for children from Year 3 and up to be involved in trials for a tournament at Takapuna Cricket Club. There are lots of photos from the cricket day on our school sports Facebook page. Like "Campbells Bay School Sports" to keep up-to-date and see photos from our sporting competitions.
