EVERY KID WITH CANCER NEEDS A PLACE AT CAMP.
THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING YEAR Thank you for saying “No” to “Can’t Go” and saying yes to hope, fun, adventure and ultimately saying yes to a kid whose young life has been turned upside down by the realities of childhood cancer. Your investment in expanding and redeveloping Ooch Muskoka is a legacy that will change lives. As we embark upon the most ambitious campaign in Ooch’s history we are thrilled to be partnering with individuals like you who believe in the transformational power of Camp. The success of this campaign will forever change the landscape of support in the paediatric oncology community. As more oncologists and nurses are recommending Camp Ooch to their patients, more patients are coming to Camp. This is a much needed expansion and it will give us the ability to serve 50 per cent more children than our current capacity allows. You and your investment are making it possible for every child diagnosed with cancer in the Province of Ontario to access what we fondly refer to as the Magic of Ooch. Your investment is restoring joy, laughter, friendship and fun in the lives of children who have been forced to grow up far too quickly both today, tomorrow and for many years to come. This report is intended to keep you updated on the progress and impact of your generous donation. I hope that you will be encouraged and inspired as you read it. We are so excited to see the dream of More Ooch, More Often for More Kids transform into reality. Your support and involvement is making an incredible difference with long-standing impact. With thanks,
Alex Robertson Chief Executive Officer

Phase Two will go to tender this Spring with the Muskoka Lodge and Camper Cabin planned to break ground in September. We look forward to continuing to share the progress your support has made achievable in the months to come on our blog at ooch.org/saynotocantgo. Thank you!

DOLLARS FUNDRAISED WITH GATTUSO-SLAIGHT MATCH In the Fall of 2014, Camp Ooch received its largest gift to date from La Fondation Emmanuelle Gattuso and The Slaight Family Foundation. The Gattuso-Slaights wanted to both support Ooch and inspire the philanthropic community to give at a leadership level, so they issued a challenge to Ooch: raise $10 million in campaign support and Gattuso-Slaight will match up to $10 million. Thanks to your commitments, we have already raised $9,445,777 towards this match, meaning that the impact of each of your contributions over the past year has been doubled.

FAITH’S STORY Faith has been involved with Ooch since 2011 and always looks forward to the three-day overnight canoe trip in Massasauga Provincial Park. However, this summer Faith was taking a new trial chemotherapy that needed to be refrigerated, which meant she might not be able to go on the trip with her friends. The Ooch team wasn’t going to let that happen! On day two of the trip, two staff drove to the park, paddled a total of six hours, and delivered Faith’s medication directly to her campsite. Faith absolutely loved camping out in the wilderness, and afterwards she told her counsellors “the reason Camp is so wonderful is because Ooch always makes things possible”. Why is this so important? Dr. David Malkin, Senior Staff Oncologist Haematology/Oncology, The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) recently completed a study showing “that short-term improvement in all quality of life (QoL) domains were reported by both campers and their parents. Most prominent changes were observed in the psychological, rather than physical health, including emotional, social and school functioning, communication, perception of self-appearance and cognition. This suggests that Camp addresses the non-medical issues of cancer and aids in the areas which cannot be helped with medication or surgeries.”
