R E S I D E N T A DV I S O R
Lymar Lyons RA in: Bowen Hall, 8th Floor Likes living on campus because: It keeps me close to the many resources that NC State has to offer. I am close to my classes, recreational spots, friends, and most importantly food. Living on campus also makes me realize how beautiful it is every day. Favorite part about being an RA: Interacting with people. Advice for freshmen: Learn life lessons in college. You should set your own standards and strive to breakthrough them and set more.
“As cliche as it sounds, my favorite part of being an RA is building relationships with my residents so that they feel comfortable confiding in me and being their friend.” Ashley Pekrul

WE LET YOU CHOOSE.
FVKWE FJKD GIVE REAL ANSWERS. ARE YOU REQUIRED TO LIVE HOW DO YOU ASSIGN ON CAMPUS YOUR FIRST YEAR? ROOMMATES? Living on campus is not a requirement, although research shows that students living on campus have higher GPAs and graduation rates than those who live off campus. Plus, we think living on campus rocks!
DO I HAVE TO PAY ANY FEES OR DEPOSITS TO APPLY FOR CAMPUS HOUSING? You do not have to pay the Admissions Advanced Enrollment Deposit prior to applying for housing, and we do not charge any fees.
ARE THERE ANY FRESHMENONLY RESIDENCE HALLS? There are no freshmen-specific residence halls unless you participate in First Year College Village located in Tucker and Owen halls. This Village is specifically designed for incoming freshmen who are undecided about which college they want to enter.
HOW IS MY ROOM ASSIGNMENT MADE? Room assignments are made on a firstcome, first-served basis, so apply early. We also look at your lifestyle questions and preferences when matching you with a roommate.
WHEN WILL I FIND OUT MY ROOM ASSIGNMENT? Housing assignments for incoming students are released in mid-May via MyPack Portal.
We know this is one of your biggest concerns, but it doesn’t have to be. With our RoomSync app, you may search for potential roommates and choose who you want to live with during the academic year. Look for details on the application. Don’t want to use RoomSync? We’ll use the lifestyle questions from your application to match you with another NC State student.
CAN I REQUEST A ROOMMATE? If you already know who you want for a roommate, apply early and include your roommate request. We will make every attempt to pair you with your requested roommate based on space availability.
WHAT IF I DON’T DON’T GET ALONG WITH MY ROOMMATE? If you end up having a roommate conflict that can’t be resolved, room changes occur the second week after classes begin. We want you to be comfortable and happy.
IS ON-CAMPUS HOUSING GUARANTEED?
No. Assignments are made based on the date your application is received and available space. Students unassigned by July will be notified of their status.
ARE PETS ALLOWED? The only pets allowed in on-campus housing are fish (10-gallon tank limit per person). Fido and Fluffy have to stay at home.

HOW TO
APPLY
Once you are offered acceptance to NC State, you may submit a Housing Application through MyPack Portal. Don’t procrastinate! Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and assignments are based on availability. To submit your Housing Application, first log into MyPack Portal. Then click on Student Self Services. From the drop down menus, choose University Housing and Prospective Residents. Then click on the Housing Application link. Select a term and fill out the Housing Application. If you want to participate in a Living and Learning Village, don’t forget to submit your Village Application after you submit your Housing Application! You will find Village Applications directly beneath the Housing Application link on the Prospective Residents screen in MyPack Portal.
ROOMSYNC APP Looking for a roommate at NC State? Try the RoomSync app! Our custom app allows you to connect with other NC State students applying to live on campus. Think of it like Match.com for roommates! The app interfaces with your Facebook profile. You’ll be asked to complete a survey about yourself and your potential roommate. Next, the system will pull in your interests and profile picture from Facebook. From here, you can search, browse, pin and request a potential roommate. Make a match? Great! Update your Housing Application in MyPack Portal to officially request your new roommate. -- Happy Matching!
