This month’s cover is in honor to all you great mother’s past and present. Here are some fun facts you might not know on this most special day! • In the U.S. alone, around 122 million phone calls are made to moms on Mother’s Day • Approximately $14 billion dollars is spent on Mother’s Day • In what was formerly Yugoslavia, children would tie up their mother on Mother’s Day The only way she could get free would be to pay her children with treats. Happy Mother’s Day!

Tip of the Month
If You Miss Try Again
Old School Advice In 1993, when I was still a young amateur, I wanted to get rid of a slice and I remember reading a very old golf magazine article by Sam Snead who wrote that when he sliced, he would practice hitting draws and if the ball hooked, he would practice hitting fades, this way, he could always fine tune his game and hit it straight. I thought this was great advice and was excited to hit the range, until I realized I didn’t know how to hit a fade, draw or straight ball intentionally, but I worked it out and lowered my handicap from 27 to 9 that season and two years later I turned pro and another 2 years later, I won my first Professional event. So, here is my modern take on curing some of the more common problems in golf. If you SLICE a ball, you are swinging on an OUT-IN path with an open club face. Learning to swing on an INOUT path, by placing a curved wall of balls, gives instant feedback and will allow you to release the club head and should turn that slice into a nice draw. If you HOOK the ball, you are swinging on an IN-OUT path with a closed face. Learning to swing on an OUT-IN path, by placing a curved wall of balls, gives instant feedback and will allow you to block the release and turn that hook into a nice fade. If you SCOOP the ball and rarely take any divots and hit the ball too high, your Angle of Attack is too SHALLOW. Learning to swing with a steeper Angle of Attack by placing a wall 5” before the ball you want to hit, will help you hit down on the ball, also known as compression and should give you more total distance. If you DIG and take deep divots and hit the ball too low, you Angle of Attack is too steep. Learning to swing with a shallower Angle of Attack by placing a wall 5” ahead of the ball you want to hit, will help you to pick the ball clean of the turf and allow your shots to soar and give you more carry distance. As always, please remain patient, yet persistent with your practice sessions, make lots of practice swings, preferably in front of a mirror and keep in mind that the more uncomfortable/awkward you are, the closer you are to achieving any kind of change, so embrace and welcome this as part of the journey to a better game and remember that even the greatest players in the world struggle sometimes, but with dedication, a good plan and great work ethic, any obstacle can be overcome and that is not just a golf lesson, it is a life lesson too.

Here’s a Tip
If you ever have a whim to clean your windows all of a sudden and you don’t have an actual window cleaner, Oolong Tea works pretty good. For example, if you are a smoker, you know your windows will have the typical cigarette smoke residue which tends to cloud them up. The natural ingredients in Oolong Tea actually helps break down the tar for easy cleaning. You can buy a bottle of Oolong Tea at any convenience store. It doesn’t leave streaks and you can drink what you don’t use. CLEAN CAR HAPPY DRIVER
