Kintai Bridge • Hiroshima 3 Day Trip The Kintai Bridge is a historical wooden arch bridge built in 1673 and located in the city of Iwakuni, in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. The bridge spans the Nishiki River in a series of five wooden arches, and is located on the foot of Mt. Yokoyama, at the top of which lies Iwakuni Castle. This visit is just one of the many popular spots that we will tour during the “Hiroshima 3 Day Trip”. Other tour locations we’ll visit are Peace Memorial Museum & Park, Itsukushima Shrine, Miyajima Island and Himeji Castle.

AVAILABLE!
Celebrate Military Family Month with a lane for 1 hour of bowling, up to 5 pairs of rental shoes, a large 1 topping pizza, and up to 5 fountain drinks for only $25! This is available any time lanes are available and is normally a $46 value!
NO-TAP BOWLING TOURNAMENT Saturday, November 24 Registration starts at 12 noon and bowling begins at 1 p.m.
In at Noon Sunday, November 18 • Check Starts at 1 p.m.
$30 per person This remains four games with your low game tossed out. For those of you who aren’t familiar with no-tap: men getting 9 or better on the first ball get a strike, ladies getting 8 or more on the first ball get a strike! This is a fun, high-scoring action, with cash prizes awarded to our top scorers!
We will now have 6 games qualifying and still cut to the top 1/4th for our finals! Thanks go out to Wellch@m Motors for their generous sponsorship, providing two bowling balls as a prize drawing for our tournament participants, and for the $250 added to the prize fund.
ENTRY $50
(or ¥ Equivalent)
Thank you Wellcham for sponsoring our Zama 300 Tournament!
Tip of the Month! Most bowlers start with the bowling ball centered in the middle of their body just under their chin. With this alignment you are forced to swing the ball around the hips.
Incorrect Position
19
Correct Position
Instead, start with the ball just under the shoulder of your bowling hand. This will allow the ball to swing back and forth in a straight line under the shoulder, making it much easier to get the ball going straight to your target!
Pizza of the Month
$18.50 The NFL is running strong and to celebrate we are featuring our “Pigskin Pizza” in November. Crispy Bacon, Savory Sausage, Spicy Pepperoni, and Hearty Ham top this celebration of all things pork! Our Pigskin Pizza is only $18.50 and only available during November, so hurry in!

EVER BEEN TO KURE HARBOR? Camp Kure (Akizuki) Recreation/Lodging
During WWII, the Kure Naval District was Japan’s single largest naval base and arsenal, housing most of the city’s industry and workforce employed in the service of naval installations, munitions factories and other support functions. It is this strategic significance that drew a heavy and sustained Allied bombardment culminating in the Bombing of Kure in June and July 1945. Today, Kure continues to be a major maritime center hosting the dockyards of numerous shore based facilities of the JMSDF, gaining fame as a tourism center featuring artifacts and mementos from the JMSDF museum of naval history. Come and visit Camp Kure and immerse yourself in the beauty and history of Kure Harbor. Our facilities offer dining & bar services, a package store, gym, commissary, clean and convenient lodging at affordable rates.

In Memory of Our Friend Richard E. Haun “Mr. Haun”
May 9, 1935-September 21, 2018 Mr. Richard E. Haun, former MWR Marketing Chief, passed away September 21, 2018 with his family at his side. He first came to Japan in 1954 as a Soldier and was stationed at Sagami Depot until 1958. “Haun-san” returned to Japan on sabbatical from his art teaching duties in Rochester, New York in the early 70s and liked Japan so much that he decided to stay. He initially worked for CYS as a Youth Services facility Manager and transferred to MWR Marketing where he put is art training to good use as an illustrator. The capstone of his MWR Marketing career was becoming the Branch Chief and launching the Bugle magazine. He was known for his selfless service to the community, quick wit, and endless supply of jokes and gags. ハーンさん、どうぞ安らかお眠りください。 https://zama.armymwr.com 32
