@camronpr

INTRODUCTION Next week, The London Design Festival kicks off and we thought we would share with you some highlights as well as our personal favourites. Many of you receiving this pack will be based globally, so will not be able to attend - we hope this brings London to you. In terms of navigation, there are nine official Design Districts this year, with the addition of Mayfair for the first time. We are looking forward to heading to the Mazzoleni Gallery where they are collaborating with Dimore Gallery in Albemarle Street. Design Frontiers is taking place for the first time at Somerset House and the Camron team will be present with three installations by Swarovski, Kvadrat and Compac with Arik Levy. Come and see us along with a total of 30 exhibitions by international designers. There are key Design Destinations not to miss and these range from the London Design Fair in the east, to Design Junction at King’s Cross, Decorex at Syon Park (which is perfect for those of you arriving this weekend since it starts Sunday) to Focus/17 at Chelsea Harbour and 100% Design at Olympia. It is always worth heading over to The V&A. This year seek out Transmission by Ross Lovegrove in the Tapestries Gallery, Flynn Talbot in the Prince Consort Gallery and While We Wait - an immersive installation by Elias and Yousef Anastas. In the city, seek out Being Human by Studioilse at 4 Cromwell Place, The Skandium Townhouse at 31 Thurloe Place - a four-story house with the new Louis Poulenc limited edition lamp and Restoration Station - a non-profit social enterprise with Yinka Ilori. For those of you heading to London who have not yet been to The Design Museum, do go and take on Set in Stone and Stellarworks while you are there. At Sketch in Conduit Street you will find a collaboration with Matter of Stuff including work by 13 different designers. We also want to congratulate Lee Broom on his unmissable all black collection in Shoreditch at 95 Rivington Street. Finally, a highlight will be the Villa Walala by Camille Walala in Exchange Square, Broadgate which launches this Friday. We look forward to seeing you next week! Judy Dobias

Design Frontiers is a new group exhibition at Somerset House, from 18– 24 September, featuring 30 leading international designers renowned for shaping and leading their respective disciplines: from automotive to fashion, product design to graphics, digital to performance. Design Frontiers explores the intersection between future-thinking and commerce, innovation and the demands of the modern marketplace. Progress in design is only possible with enlightened clients, and the exhibition will look in detail at some of these engaged conversations and present the fruits of these collaborations. Working in partnership with their preferred clients and companies, designers will create installations that show how they are testing the frontiers of the industry. The curated and free exhibition will present installations in the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court, West Wing Galleries and Terrace Rooms of Somerset House. One of the highlights of this year’s exhibition includes an innovative installation spanning two rooms, designed by Ian Callum, Director of Design at Jaguar. By embracing autonomy, connectivity and electrification, the interactive and immersive experience offers a glimpse into the creative imagination in designing beautiful fast cars of the future, and the potential for the next chapter of the Jaguar story. Ian Callum, Director of Design at Jaguar, said: “We’re delighted to sponsor Design Frontiers and I’m hugely excited to once again exhibit at Somerset House alongside so many talented and respected designers. Jaguar has a long and rich history of beautiful design and innovation and, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible. This exhibition is an opportunity to not only tell the story of automotive design but to learn from and be inspired by many other disciplines.” Designers taking part in the debut of Design Frontiers include Paul Priestman; Tord Boontje with Swarovski; 19 emerging and established designers with Kvadrat; Katie Greenyer for Pentland Brands; Arik Levy with COMPAC; Benjamin Hubert with AXYL for Allermuir, and nolii; as well as Form Us With Love, Super-Flux, and Pentagram. Design Frontiers promises to be a must-see for the public, offering an immersive and interactive experience – a highlight of the London design calendar. The exhibition is free to attend.

A giant ceramic gateway, a flower-filled passage and visions for cars of the future are among the installations and exhibitions set to take place at this year’s designjunction. The event returns to Granary Square in London’s King’s Cross from 21 to 24 September. It will host a series of installations, exhibitions, collaborations and pop-up shops over the four-day period, with brands including Renault, Rado and Tala all taking part. For the first time, designjunction will collaborate with brand Turkishceramics to create a “striking and fully immersive” ceramic installation for the fountain area outside Central Saint Martins. Created by artist Adam Nathaniel Furman, the Gateways installation will consist of a series of colourful, tiled four-metre-high gates – each reflecting a different story based on Turkey’s history with ceramics. Also on Granary Square, flower delivery service Bloomon will create a passageway covered in plants from Dutch fields. At the end of the tunnel will be a secret door, which encloses a botanical-themed room that will host talks and workshops. The square will also showcase Renault’s self-driving Trezor car, as well as the result of the car brand’s collaboration with Central Saint Martins, which saw students challenged with designing a car for the future. Campari – the Italian apéritif – will host a two-week masterclass programme onboard a narrowboat on the nearby Regent’s Canal, while lighting brand Tala will serve drinks from a refurbished vintage Mini Cooper. The Crossing, Cubitt House and The Canopy will all return for the 2017 edition of designjunction, as well as a new area named Cubitt Park. The Crossing, which runs through the centre of the Central Saint Martins campus, will again play home to installations and partnership projects, including a collaboration with Rado that will present the finalists’ designs for the first Rado Star Prize UK competition. The Canopy will return as a temporary pop-up venue for premium retail brands and emerging design labels, selling everything from fashion accessories to technology, ceramics, glassware and stationery.This year’s mix of brands includes Cherchbi, Holdall & Co, Korridor, Melin Tregwynt, Oggetto, One We Made Earlier, Tom Pigeon and Void Watches. In the new Cubitt Park area, Kirkby Design and Eley Kishimoto have teamed up to create a press area named The Lounge. This space will also play host to several events, including the Blueprint iGuzzini Architectural Photography Awards and an NLA networking gathering. @camronpr

MINI LIVING - URBAN CABIN WITH SAM JACOB STUDIO London Design Festival is excited to announce that MINI LIVING will return for the 15th edition in September, to collaborate on the second Festival Landmark Project: URBAN CABIN. This year, the MINI LIVING team has designed a micro-house, ‘URBAN CABIN’, as a research space for relevant urban needs and local identities in London. URBAN CABIN consists of a clever module reflecting its environment and featuring distinct London characteristics created by local architect Sam Jacob. Unique features include a shared kitchen and a micro-library where visitors to the space can share and swap literature that focuses on the history of living in London ranging from classic literature such as Dickens, Keats and Shakespeare as well as design bestsellers. The collaboration between MINI LIVING and Jacob is based on the idea of London as a city of contrasts between past and present. “I’ve always been interested in combinations, juxtapositions and fusions; in how projects can draw on different references and forge alternative possibilities,” Jacob explains. “Often this means bringing apparent opposites together to create unexpected alliances and design languages. The aim is to open up the possibilities of design while also making reference to the world around us.”

The Southbank’s Mondrian London has a Tom Dixon designed restaurant called Sea Containers that serves American and British cuisine. With the clue in the name, the menu has a seafood affinity that can satiate any need for a salty delicacy.

Our first Vegan restaurant to make our list is found in the depths of the Chelsea, on the Northend Road. A small and disarming interior that is without any frills which manages to make vegan food both delicious and exciting.

The outside façade and the name gives the impression of a pub but within the Harwood Arms resides a restaurant that serves up delectable English grub with flecks of European notes. On the pricey side but certainly a heart-warming plate of food.
