FUORISALONE FACT SHEET FOR MILAN 2014

113

Compiled by James Hart, Anya Lawrence and Laura Ward 2

INTRODUCTION This is the 53rd edition of the Salone del Mobile, which takes place from April 8th - 13th. At the RHO Fiera alone there will be 2,400 exhibitors, from 260 countries with 300,000 visitors heading into the city.

This is the 20th edition of EuroCucina and also the Bathroom furniture exhibition. This year SaloneSatellite, devoted to young and emerging designers, has re-located to Pavilions 13-15. A hallmark event, called 'Where Architects Live' includes eight leading international architects and should not be missed.

The Fuorisalone - showrooms, exhibitions and installations in the centre of Milan will be impressive. In addition to Ventura Lambrate, Brera Design District and Tortona Around Design, there is a new cultural district, 5 Vie. This will have 35 exhibitions, and will take advantage of inner courtyards, cloisters, churches and museums in the area close to the heart of Milan near the Duomo.

Add to this the charm of Rossana Orlandi and 20 brands participating in designjunction at Palazzo Morando, and you will need maps and use of apps to ensure you make the most of this week. Showrooms, gardens and boutique stores are also hosting events as you will see from this briefing pack we have pulled together. The weather looks good, full of sunshine. Our teams from London, New York and San Francisco look forward to seeing you in Milan!

HOW TO GET TO THE FAIR GETTING AROUND With so many people heading to Milan airports, if you arrive at Linate from Tuesday onwards, you might want to book a car to collect you and our suggested company is AUTONOLO MILANO (www.autonolomilano.it) Please contact Carlo or Anna on +39 02 65 52 732 or +39 02 65 75 777 and do mention Camron if you book. You can also email the company at autonolomilano@autonolomilano.it. Arriving at Malpensa, take the train directly into the city and then a taxi.

Additionally, you might want to book them for half a day to take you around the showrooms to maximise your time. Do not take a taxi to the Fiera – take the metro. In the evening, taxis are hard to find and they don’t stop if you wave them down, so have the numbers (02 8585, 02 6767, 02 5353, 02 8383 and 02 3100) handy.

REMEMBER- The meter will start running as soon as the driver gets the call!

MEETING POINTS If you want to meet people, there are several key places that we would suggest listed below. These are away from design destinations and are accessible.

Some of our recommendations include the following: if you are in Zona Tortona seek out the new hotel, Magna Pars - it has a lovely courtyard cafe, a perfect lunch location and is still a secret. Adjacent to Rossana Orlandi is the magical Pane e Acqua - ideal for lunch, opens at 12.30. For a serious breakfast meeting or aperitivo, head to The Four Seasons or Park Hyatt.

Since the weather forecast for next week looks promising, head to the gardens of The Bulgari Hotel. Additionally, we recommend the outside cafe at Corso Como.
