Camron in Milan
Introduction As many of you from distant destinations are ready to jump on planes to Milan, we hope this Pack prepares you for what we believe will be a fulfilled week ahead. The Salone del Mobile which opens on Tuesday morning, includes EuroCucina which celebrates its 22nd edition and should not be underestimated. I attended a press conference in February which provided early insight into the technological advances and calibre of Michelin star chefs attending, making this a key destination. While at the fair, we always encourage everyone to visit SaloneSatellite which has been championing emerging designers under 35 for the past 20 years, under the direction of Marva Griffin Wilshire. Before we get into what is taking place within the city, I would like to draw attention to an outstanding project we are working on with Ambra Medda this year in advance of an exhibition at La Triennale di Milano in May. For the week of Salone, The Archivio Osvaldo Borsani will invite everyone to a special exhibition at the Villa Borsani, just north of Milan in Varedo (a 20-minute train from Cadorna). The villa – which has been unoccupied for nearly a decade – will be brought to life by Ambra, providing personal insights into the drawings, watercolours, photographs and letters of Borsani.
Highlights for the week should include a visit to Daniel’s Café within Swarovski Palazzo to eat Linzer cake flown in from Austria, through to sitting in the sunshine in the garden at Palazzo Isimbardi viewing the architectural installation by Phillip K.Smith III for COS. We love the idea of getting on the tram installation by Cristina Celestino, (you need to make a reservation to get your ticket at tramcorallo. com) and while looking out the window in Brera, enjoy interior textiles by Rubelli. Alcova is opening doors to one of Milan’s most historic panettone factories for the first time with 20 exhibitors from Europe at Via Popoli Uniti in a space overrun by plants and objects. If you want to move on from negronis at Bar Basso, do seek out Chez Nina, a private club imagined by India Mahdavi which opens on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 10pm–1am at Via Della Spiga 32. Finally, we have some good news to report: In October, Camron will be opening up a Milan office headed up by Valentina Giani. After spending 10 years with us in London, she is venturing home and the new European hub will be welcome to our design community going forward. Wishing you all a successful week! Judy Dobias
If you are still in the city on Friday, don’t miss the opening at the Fondazione Prada of the new tower which will also include a restaurant and rooftop terrace. The tower marks the completion of the foundation, designed by Rem Koolhaas, with Chris van Duijn and Federico Pompignoli from OMA. As you review the Pack, you will see that we have included every district, from Ventura Centrale – a favourite of ours, with 8 abandoned warehouses being brought to life - through to the expanding 5VIE, culminating at Rossana Orlandi which has a strong programme and participants this year.

Getting To The Fair From The City of Milan
Meeting Points
By Underground: M1 Red Line to Rho-Fiera station (last stop). Interchange stations: Cadorna-Triennale and Loreto (M2 Green Line); Duomo (M3 Yellow Line)
If you want to meet people, there are several key places that we would suggest listed below. These are away from design destinations and are accessible. Some of our recommendations include: The new Prada Foundation Cafe: Bar Luce (Largo Isarco 2) and one of Milan’s oldest and finest pastry shops, Pasticceria Marchesi (Via Monte Napoleone 9). For a serious breakfast meeting or aperitivo, head to The Four Seasons or Park Hyatt. For central Milan, the best meeting point is Café Peck, via Victor Hugo 4 and is very close to the Duomo. Adjacent to Rossana Orlandi is the magical Marta (formally known as Pane e Acqua) - ideal for lunch, opens at 11AM.
* Fiera Milano Tickets: In order to reach Rho Fiera station on the M1 Red underground line you can’t use the urban tickets. • • •
One way underground ticket: EUR 2.50 Return underground ticket: EUR 5.00 One Day underground ticket: EUR 7.00
By Taxi: Taxis authorized to operate at Linate and Malpensa airports, on given routes, among which Milan Fairgrounds in Rho, apply fixed, all-inclusive fares (travel time, motorway tolls, night-time and holiday/weekend surcharge). By Shuttle Bus Fiera Milano downtown: Free shuttle bus service every 15 minutes from 3.30pm to 7.30pm (on Sunday 22 April from 3pm to 5pm). Departure from Fiera Milano: inside South Gate (Porta Sud) Stops: Piazza Lina Bo Bardi and Milano Cadorna Station
Getting Around With so many people heading to Milan airports, if you arrive at Linate from Tuesday onwards, you might want to book a car to collect you and our suggested company is AUTONOLO MILANO (www.autonolomilano.it) Please contact Carlo or Anna on +39 02 65 52 732 or +39 02 65 75777 and do mention Camron if you book. You can also email the company at autonolomilano@autonolomilano.it. Arriving at Malpensa, take the train directly into the city and then a taxi. Additionally, you might want to book them for half a day to take you around the showrooms to maximise your time. Do not take a taxi to the Fiera – take the metro. In the evening, taxis are hard to find and they don’t stop if you wave them down, so have the numbers +39 02 8585, +39 02 6767, +39 02 5353, +39 02 8383 and +39 02 3100) handy. Design Districts / Salone del Mobile.Milano Press Release
Salone del Mobile.Milano 2018: work in progress Here’s a heads up on the 57th edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, the prime observatory of the new horizons of design and furnishing, scheduled to open in just a few months. Preparations are in full swing for the next edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, which will be back from 17th to 22nd April 2018 with a packed programme of innovations, appointments and surprises. All unmissable. “Design is emotion. Milan is the heart it springs from. What connects these two things is the Salone del Mobile, which creates new frameworks and hosts new creativity at each edition, because the important thing is that this event is not simply the leading showcase of both Italian and foreign furnishing and design, it also shines a light onto developments within the industry. The Salone del Mobile’s great strength is that it is the best demonstration of creativity and also the most important business attraction. This is how we work together to strengthen Milan’s role as the global capital of shared culture, design and innovation”, said Claudio Luti, President of the Salone del Mobile. More than 2,000 exhibitors will be presenting outstanding products and solutions for contemporary living with an informed eye to the future and which combine design, technology, flexibility and sustainability. A vast array of exhibits that marry quality and creativity, thanks to the hard work, commitment and investment in research of the top companies within the sector. FederlegnoArredo Eventi President Emanuele Orsini had this to say: “Following the success of Moscow and Shanghai, the Salone del Mobile.Milano is poised to become the global leader on the international furnishing and design scene. Attracting top-level companies, organising collateral events of significant artistic and cultural importance, and the support of the Italian Trade Agency ICE in bolstering the event’s internationalisation mission are the ingredients that will combine to produce a unique and unmissable event.” The Salone Internazionale del Mobile is being held concomitantly with the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition again this year, split into the following style categories: Classic: Tradition in the Future, Design and xLux. The two annual exhibitions this year are flanked by the biennial EuroCucina and its collateral event FTK (Technology For the Kitchen) and the International Bathroom Exhibition bringing together an increasing number of companies from both sectors that recognise the great value of business and connections.

Design Districts / Salone del Mobile.Milano Press Release
As always, the concepts at EuroCucina and FTK (Technology For the Kitchen) determine the trends and spark inspiration: tomorrow’s kitchen will be an interconnected, multipurpose and professional place, yet one where emotions always run high. What distinguishes the furnishing and built-in appliances that mark out the kitchen as the central hub of the home, the true original domestic hearth, are contemporary design, technological innovation, next generation performance, energy efficiency and ease of use. Shapes, colours and materials will help designate the kitchen as a place for conviviality and socialising, working and interacting with the outside world at all times of the day. Equally, the wide range of extremely high-end products at the International Bathroom Exhibition caters to the increasingly pressing demand for high-performance products geared to rest and relaxation. This edition will highlight, as never before, the companies’ innovative focus on sustainability. Cutting edge products for modern bathrooms reflect today’s strong demand for efficiency and energy saving, with the accent on water efficiency, indoor pollution prevention and personal health. Needless to say, there has been no skimping on the ergonomics, colours and accessories that stimulate the emotions and underscore the feeling of wellness achieved in this particular space. The 21st edition of SaloneSatellite, dedicated to the under-35s, has chosen a powerful and fascinating theme: ”Africa / Latin America: Rising Design – Design Emergente”. Young designers from all over the world will present work harnessing the new technologies and craftsmanship, a return to the origins of design and contemporary influences. SaloneSatellite will thus throw the spotlight on the Southern Hemisphere: Africa and Latin America are both enormous melting pots of creativity and design and, therefore, of inspiration. Testament to this will be an exhibition on the wealth of design in both continents, for which the Latin American part will be curated by brothers Humberto and Fernando Campana, designers who have been active for some time in the social rehabilitation of marginalised people, and the African part by the Franco-Moroccan designer Hicham Lahlou, founder of the Africa Design Award & Days, committed to promoting the up-and-coming generations of African creatives. The aim is to showcase design of vernacular derivation and what is on offer today, or could be on offer, to deal with social and environmental emergencies and foster an informed way of life for the future. This year marks the 9th edition of the SaloneSatellite Award, geared to the interface between demand and supply, between entrepreneurs and designers, and between creativity and manufacturing.

Design Districts / Salone del Mobile.Milano Press Release
The 57th edition of the Salone del Mobile will also extend into the city, spreading its wings into the heart of Milan with an important event, testament to the fact that there is more to the fair than just business. Far from it. There is a burning desire not to neglect the importance of emotions, of dreams, of everyday life, and of the beauty of the world around us. A distinguished curator will take visitors along a sensory path in search of wonder and surprise, an immersive experience that will awaken all five senses. Because “Beauty will save the world. Stay tuned.

Design Districts / SaloneSatellite 2018 Press Release
SaloneSatellite 2018: design to come This year marks the 21st edition of the world’s leading event for talented young designers – an edition for reflecting on the future of design, right from its origins, and for exploring the delicate balance between craftsmanship and the new technologies. The prime objective of SaloneSatellite has always been to discover, follow, valorise and offer concrete possibilities to young designers under 35. On the eve of the upcoming edition, being held concurrently with the Salone del Mobile.Milano, from 17th to 22nd April, the event is reaffirming its vocation and its mission to spark conversation and reflections on and study into the future of design. 650 young designers will be ranged over 2,800 square metres in Pavilions 13-15 at Fiera Milano in Rho, with free public entry from Cargo 4. With the theme assigned to this year’s young designers, Africa / Latin America: Rising Design – Design Emergente, SaloneSatellite is putting the spotlight firmly on the Southern Hemisphere. Africa and Latin America are two huge melting pots of creativity and design. The theme has inspired a journey that will change our perception and understanding of design, to which an exhibition on the wealth of design in both continents is testament. The Latin American part will be curated by brothers Humberto and Fernando Campana, designers who have been active for some time in the social rehabilitation of marginalised people, and the African part by the Franco-Moroccan designer Hicham Lahlou, founder of the Africa Design Award & Days, committed to promoting up-and-coming generations of African creatives. The aim is to showcase design of vernacular derivation together with what is on offer today, or could soon be available, for dealing with social and environmental emergencies and fostering an informed way of life for the future. For their part, the young SaloneSatellite protagonists from all over the world, will be asked to showcase works that explore the relationship between heritage and the contemporary scene, with projects poised between the new technologies and craftsmanship. An exploration of experimentation, memory, slow design, nature and the force of matter, anthropomorphism, creative recycling, cross-contamination and digital effects, with the power to amaze and trigger reflection. As always, a prestigious Selection Committee composed of leading international figures from the world of design, planning and communication has viewed works by a large number of designers who will be exhibiting alongside some of those who have taken part in previous editions (up to a maximum of 3). The committee, chaired by Marva Griffin Wilshire, Founder and curator of SaloneSatellite, is made up as follows: Maurizio Riva, CEO Riva1920; Roberto Minotti, CO-CEO Minotti; Gianluca Gessi, President, Gessi; Riccardo Bello Dias, Architect; Stefan Scholten, Designer; Stefano Giovannoni, Designer;

Porzia Bergamasco, Journalist; Suzanne Schwarz, Editor-in-Chief, Spectrooms; Luciana Cuomo, Editor, DDN and Patrizia Malfatti, Head Communication and Press Office Salone del Mobile.Milano. A major new departure for this edition is SaloneSatellite’s participation in the European instituted by the European Commission and Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, implemented and run in Italy by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage (Mibact). The scheme is designed to support and encourage the efforts of those working in European cultural heritage, with a view to raising awareness of the value of cultural heritage as an asset and a resource for the European economy. FederlegnoArredo and the Salone del Mobile.Milano have always subscribed to the European Commission’s approach. As SaloneSatellite clearly fulfils the Commission’s criteria for taking part in the initiative (job creation, local and regional development, tourism, social inclusion, community engagement, identity building), it was only natural to want to join in. The selection process is, as always, extremely competitive, in order to uphold SaloneSatellite’s excellent reputation, as it “crowns” promising young designers destined for the market and the design star system. Last but not least, the SaloneSatellite Award – now into its 9th edition – marks a further step towards facilitating the interface between demand and supply, between business people and designers and between creativity and production. The Award is conferred by an international Jury of prominent figures in the design world, which selects the 3 best products on exhibit.

VIA PIO IV
By Seletti and Paridevitale
A multidisciplinary team worked to transform places of isolation into theatres of dignity. This project originates from the desire to use design as a tool for inclusive projects. The goal is to rethink and realize a modular furniture system in recycled plastic able to improve the housing conditions of those who are forced to live in contexts of rehab or imprisonment
The project presents a defiant urban intervention by Portuguese artist XANA exploring the notion of place through an elegy to life and light, in opposition to darkness, death and the egoism of the market. With a site specific installation, via Bagnera will be transfigured by an unusual game of shapes, colours and words.

VEGAN DESIGN OR THE ART OF REDUCTION
The designer Valentina Cameranesi develops the key elements of her artistry – material, subject, visual language and conversation partner – in an illusory comfort zone. But the subconscious is at work, and the careful observer will discern disturbing factors in a rarefied atmosphere. Wielding her signature style, Cameranesi plays with selfreferential clichés and interiorized sources, and brings them alive in this show.

The exhibition is an opportunity to discover the work of a unique talent of international design. Each object of Eres Nevi Pana’s collections is made in compliance with the rules of a specific ethical position and it gives an answer to a specific question: it is possible to design without using any material from animals? With his work and his strict but emotional approach, Nevi Pana shows that it is possible.

Design Districts / 5VIE 2018 Press Release
Milan, February 27, 2018
5VIE’S MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2018 5VIE as cultural producer
The fifth edition of 5VIE Design Week is starting, with a wide-ranging programme of International events. Continuing its five-years activity as cultural promoter and with the purpose of promoting the territorial heritage of Milan’s Old Town, this year 5VIE art+design presents and produces international projects dedicated to art, research, contemporary sign and love for handicraft and for the territory. April, 17 – 22 – during this week, when Milan becomes the capital of creativity and quality, the 5VIE district continues focusing on history, culture and innovation, objects of its mission, and goes on making Milan’s Old Town richer and more lively. Again, 5VIE shows how to combine design, handicraft and culture, features of Milan and of its history, in particular of this district. This edition confirms the work done in the last years and the four founders - Aline Calvi Radice Fossati, Ernesta Del Cogliano, Alessia del Corona Borgia and Emanuele Tessarolo – have entered into new cultural partnerships by selecting some renowned curators such as Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte, Maria Cristina Didero, Annalisa Rosso, Alice Stori Liechtenstein, with the purpose of building and launching ”tailored” projects with them, by blending research, art and savoir-faire. The curator and gallerist Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte was hosted in the now well-known apartment of via Cesare Correnti 14, 5VIE headquarter, to work on a format that is in line with the spatial needs and the mission of the four founders. The result is Unsighted, an exhibition where the designer has produced a piece of art without knowing the context, the place, nor the final destination. Without any standard parameter, the project aims at emancipating the designer from classic style notions, special specifications and project requirements. What is important is the creation of objects that are active and independent agents in the environment. Unsighted collects works by: Anton Alvarez (United States), Bahraini Danish (Bahrain), Eric Schmitt (France), Niamh Barry (Ireland), Omer Arbel (Canada), Roberto Sironi (Italy), Seo Jeonghwa (Corea).

Design Districts / 5VIE 2018 Press Release
In via Cesare Correnti, 5VIE also collaborates again with Sara Ricciardi, one of the youngest talents of Italian design and finalist of the ‘Officine Panerai Next Generation Designer Award’, part of the ‘Wallpaper* Design Awards 2018’, which will be the protagonist of an immersive installation curated by Alice Stori Liechtenstein and titled Arcadia. “Legacy” is the project’s topic and reveals the story and the beauty of Schloss Hollenegg, the Austriabased international programme which supports research, thinking and design critique. 5VIE also presents VEGAN DESIGN - Or the Art of Reduction, a project curated by Maria Cristina Didero. Vegan, Israeli, he was born in 1983 and studied at the Eindhoven Academy. He transfers his attitude of respect to life, human beings and nature to his design modalities. By Maria Cristina Didero. Annalisa Rosso will curate the personal exhibion Panorama of Valentina Cameranesi. Aiming for happy eyes, she builds a world to her own liking and likeness. The designer Valentina Cameranesi develops the key elements of her artistry – material, subject, visual language and conversation partner – in an illusory comfort zone. But the subconscious is at work, and the careful observer will discern disturbing factors in a rarefied atmosphere. Wielding her signature style, Cameranesi plays with self-referential clichés and interiorized sources, and brings them alive in this show. To continue with the view of reusing unused urban areas, 5VIE works with passion and temporary uses these hidden or abandoned areas for new purposes, by giving them new light and new life. This year, 5VIE moves its centre of gravity and inaugurates a new creativity focal point in the former Meazza area, hardware store which is a symbol of the postwar period for every inhabitant of Milan, that closed down two years ago. Meazza was a reference point, a meeting point, an open square for the population. In short, a place that deserves to be brought back to light. Among the various projects that will be hosted at Meazza, 5Vie pays tribute to the work of Nanda Vigo, undisputed protagonist of the current art scene. Two “Goral” totems dating back to 2005 will be presented. These two obelisks are equipped with neon lights representing the cosmogonic alphabet’s elementary signs, a simple translation of the more complex “Goral”, which in Buddhist philosophy represents the light of creation, while on its sides light sculptures will be shown, that is to say the “Light Trees” of 1984. Moreover, the movie “Go with the light” by Marco Poma/Metamorphosis will be previewed. It collects a series of interviews registered during travels and exhibitions, from to 2005 to 2017. At Archivio Nanda Vigo in Via Gorani 8, sculptures titled “Deep Space”, 2013, will be exhibited. Their triangular nature and the soft radiation they release create an impression of immateriality that projects them to an interstellar space.

Design Districts / 5VIE 2018 Press Release
In addition to the local design network such as BDDW, Davide Groppi, Apparatus, Lisa Corti and the well-known Six Gallery, the cultural collaborations that have joined the 5VIE finals are renewed from the beginning like MoscaPartners with DAMn ° Magazine that returns for the fifth year to reopen the doors of Palazzo Litta, and the provocative parade of Seletti with Design Pride. Also loyal to the district Masterly - The Dutch in Milano at Palazzo Turati, Diesel Living with Out of this world and brands as Giopato & Combes, Bitossi Home, Local Design with its 26 Australian designers and Markus Benesch in the evocative setting of the Ancient Oratory of the Passion. Spotlight on newcomers in the district: Lexus and Lensvelt. The first in the Cavallerizze of the National Museum of Science and Technology and the second in the court of Museo Diocesano. In addition to the brands there is no shortage of the artisans with Giacomo Alessi, the research on materials with Garnier & Linker and meeting places like BAR ANNE of SpaceEncounters, just to name a few. Meazza will host the info/press point, set up ad hoc by Pentatonic, circular design brand. Pentatonic invent new materials using the world’s most abundant and dangerous resource – human trash – and they do so without compromising an inch on design, performance or function. 5VIE local network expatriates by twinning with the Portuguese project Travessa da Ermida, in the heart of Lisbon. Projecto Travessa da Ermida, curated by Mário Caeiro presents a challenging work of the Portuguese artist Xana, who explores the meaning of place through an elegy to life and light in contrast with darkness, death and market’s egoism. The work is a site specific evolution of the original installation created for the Vicente initiative in Lisbon. The project focuses on the witty game between text and space, narrative and visual culture, and it will transform via Bagnara in a stage of an unusual set of critical and intellectual meanings. Xana is one of the most important Portuguese artists, famous for his temporary art installations made of plastics. Always up with the latest trends, the Design Week 5VIE will kick off this year with It’s Circular, a forum dedicated to circular economy and design. Hosted by ANCE in Via San Maurilio, in the heart of the district, the forum will take place on Sunday 15 and Monday 16. It’s Circular is supported by official partner Miniwiz and counts on the participation of the main Italian and international experts in the field, from companies and institutions to entrepreneurs, researchers and designers. The objective is to give back an accurate picture of the circular system today, using a pop approach to explore future scenarios linked to the regenerative economic system, identify best practices and establish a network of intelligences. The forum, organized under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, will see the participation of entrepreneur Arthur Huang, designer Matteo Ragni, Meterial ConneXion CEO Emilio Genovesi, among others. From the theory to practical project with the project Trashpresso by MINIWIZ. The World’s First Mobile Plastics and Fabric Waste Recycling Plant. The TRASHPRESSO is capable of bringing industrial grade recycling to population centers or isolated communities on a mobile, automated, and self-powered platform. recycling into market-tradable architectural tiles. Capacity to produce 10m^2 of tiles every 40 minutes - every tile is the equivalent to eight plastic PET bottles. On Earth Day, National Geographic will premier Trashpresso in their Green Heroes series. In the last few months Piazza Vetra and the Colonne di San Lorenzo, with its problems and potentiality, has been in the spotlight, thus the need to bring to this area cultural and sustainable initiatives for a creative management of the spaces. For this reason we think Trashpresso is the perfect project to represent 5VIE’s mission. Exploring circular themes, Stanze Sospese transforms places of isolation into theatres of dignity. This project originates from the desire to use design as a tool for inclusive projects, hoping that children should never remain in traditional prisons with their mothers. The goal is to rethink and realize, thanks to the work of social carpentry, a modular furniture system in recycled plastic able to improve the housing conditions of those who, underage or not, are forced to live in contexts of rehab or imprisonment. Two initiatives co-produced by 5VIE and aiming at promoting the district from a historical and social point of view will go along the various design projects of the district. Francesco Garbelli, in collaboration with Gilda Contemporary Art and Big Apple, through an ironic reinterpretation of street signs, is author of the project Urban Attitude, which captivates the public and invites to a reflection on the need of rethinking the relation mankind/living areas. The photographer Patrizia Calegari goes on with her overview of 5VIE People’s portraits, by settling her camera on the designers’ and 2018 curators’ faces, to catch feelings and creative emphasis. Still on this subject, children will find in the Vetra gardens a programme of workshops named My funny trash garden, curated by Maddalena Bellorini. This is an environmentalsustainable project in which children can give new life to abandoned objects, waste, scraps, garbage, by learning to look at these objects in a new way.

Design Districts / Brera Design District 2018 Press Release
Milan, February 28, 2018 Press Release
BRERA DESIGN DISTRICT Design Week 2018 “Be Human: designing with empathy” On the occasion of the week of Fuorisalone 2018, on stage in Milan from April 17th to April 22nd, Brera Design District presents the 9th edition of its Design Week. In these years Brera Design District has been establishing its role as first and most important district promoting design in Italy gaining a precise identity and interacting with brands and professionals present in the territory as well as investors, sponsors and temporary exhibitors. The whole operation was signed by Studiolabo, creative agency and studio composed by a team of professionals in the design and communication field, from digital marketing to concept and graphic design, from web design to strategic design. Last year Brera Design Week hosted 180 events and involved 300 companies with an overall number of 300,000 visitors. Thanks to these great results, Brera Design District will offer a rich calendar of events besides promoting special projects and cultural initiatives. And like every year, it will propose a format including the choice of a theme and the Lezioni di Design award. During the Brera Design Days produced by Studiolabo in October 2017 there has been much talk around the theme of empathy, which was one of the most debated topics from several perspectives. Hence the inspiration that led us to the choice of the theme: “Be Human: designing with empathy”. Knowing the users deeply is always the starting point when designing a product. Empathy, is the ability to put oneself in someone else’s shoes and understand his/her needs before creating solutions, is key for the work of a designer. In a more and more digitalised present and in a future dominated by artificial intelligence, empathy will be a scarce resource representing a factor of success for products and services: no robots will ever be able to replace it. With the aim of reflecting on the issue in a broader sense we asked Fondazione Empatia Milano to give us a feedback on it: «Empathy, meant as ability to take the perspective of the other, involves several fields of our society, including design, whose mission is to combine usefulness and beauty», said Giannantonio Mezzetti, president of FEM. On the other hand Laura Boella, professor of Moral Philosophy at Università degli Studi di Milano and member of the ethics committee of Fem, added “Empathy connects design with life, what is beautiful and useful with human nature, being in tune also with its imperfection”. In this view, this year the Lezioni di Design award was given to Constance Gennari, founder – together with Marianne Gosset – and creative director of The Socialite Family, a platform that by telling personal stories reveals daily objects and places connecting design with the lifestyle of contemporary families. In an engaging overlap of content and container, the readers will identify themselves with the characters described in the stories, but also with their houses and with their favourite pieces. Empathy and identification were the starting point for the creation of a brand inspired by the most iconic objects photographed in domestic interiors located in Paris, London, Milan and New York and described on the web and on social networks. If in the design field empathy is the engine starting the creative phase, emotions are often the direct result of it. This is a key point in the current debate around design: emotion is potentially inherent in every object and designer knows that the emotional dimension of objects can (and must) be designed. This year the ambassadors of BDD, all Ufficio Stampa Luisa Bertoldo | E: pressoffice@luisabertoldo.com | T 02 26688711 | T 02 2666364 via F.Hayez 12/14| 20129 Milano | www.luisabertoldo.com

present with a project within the borders of BDD, are talents who believe in the emotional side of design and in the empathy between objects, places and people. Cristina Celestino, with her delicate, emotional, evocative aesthetic and design vision, combines her architectural background with a fine personal taste for beauty. Another of the female ambassadors is Elena Salmistraro, who puts the artistic aspect at the core to raise sensations and feed the soul through design as well as to convey her poetic inspiration. Finally, the third ambassador is Daniele Lago, who has always considered design as the planning of experiences and was the first to change the patterns of design with Appartamento LAGO, founded in Brera in 2009 – and proposed again today – symbol of the interaction between project, product and people. “The Brera Design District fits in the broader picture set forth by the Administration to bring the liveliness and creativity of the Design Week to all the city districts, confident that these are not just opportunities for operatives and professionals to exhibit their work or meet with each other, but rather occasions to offer the city and its inhabitants the opportunity to discover new creative languages and young talents in harmony with the many artisans and businesses present in the neighbourhood,” Cristina Tajani, Councillor for Employment Policies, Manufacturing Activities, Fashion and Design, explains. “The Design Week continues to grow in the city as well as throughout the entire metropolitan area of Milan. The gatherings and the liveliness in the areas of design are increasingly attractive. A result obtained thanks to the choral work between the City of Milan and the various professionals united by the desire to promote Milan in the name of creativity and innovation.” Brera Design District enjoys the patronage of the City of Milan approved by act no. 305 of February 23, 2018.
Brera Design Apartment presents: Souvenir Milano Again this year, in the setting of Brera Design Apartment (via Palermo 1 – free entry from April 17th to April 22nd from 12 a.m. to 7 p.m.), something special was organised, designed and realised by independent curator Raffaella Guidobono. The rooms of this typical Milanese house develop a path that focuses on design and fine craftsmanship showing the new collections of Maddalena Selvini, Stories_of_Italy, Agustina Bottoni, Cynthia Vilchez Castiglioni, Sour design for Bottega Nove and Leftover for StudioF. Set up in partnership with the companies present in the Brera Design Apartment including Vitra, Bulthaup, Davide Groppi, Saba and Agape, the interiors host out-of-scale furnishings and coverings, hand-made objects resulting from artisanal processes carried out in the Italian districts of Nove and Murano with old techniques still used nowadays: sandblasting, chamfering, melting and drilling to make unique elements. Soapstone productions, blown glass, Limoges porcelain, brass and hand-split solid wood, timeless manufacturing techniques based on tailor-made designs with the help of simple tools along with new-generation machinery for cabinet-making. In parallel with all the above, 12 designers were invited to create a new piece for the launch of Souvenir Milano, the first collection of objects that takes the city as a symbol. An exercise on the memory of a radical but yet pop place, encapsulating Milan in useful and limited-edition products purchasable in the apartment itself and online at milanosouvenir.com. Design Districts / Brera Design District 2018 Press Release
Special projects and cultural initiatives Casa Corriere - International Press Lounge Casa Corriere, in collaboration with Brera Design District, will host the International Press Lounge: for the entire duration of the Design Week. The local and international press will find a welcoming lounge in the heart of Milan at the Sala Buzzati of the Corriere della Sera. Casa Corriere will also offer a rich program of events, workshops, talks and performances, as well as exhibiting the Masbedo installation: six days to see RCS journalists dialoguing with the protagonists of design, fashion, architecture, and technology. Via Balzan, 3, Milan; 17th-22nd April Crumpled Maps Soft Maps For Urban Jungles The format Design District Crumpled Maps, dedicated to the best Design Districts in the world, originated from the meeting between Studiolabo and Palomar, a company founded in Florence in 2001. It starts with the Crumpled Map of Brera Design District, purchasable by the public of Fuorisalone at the Info Point of Largo La Foppa and at the Palomar sales network. These maps are the lightest in the world: unbreakable, soft and waterproof, they can be crumpled and squeezed into a ball. Colourful and easy to read, they include city landmarks, glamorous locations and unmissable places to visit such as art galleries, boutiques and much more. A tree, the oak, symbol of sacrality, perfection, energy and life, but also a historic, recognised and sought-after symbol of Timberland. This is the subject that the designer reinterprets using her particular language into a lively installation, with a beating heart and the ambition to seduce and wrap those interacting with it. Elena’s tree, with its feminine silhouette, represents a sort of ‘mother nature’ that protects and welcomes like only a woman can do, interpreting the desire of the brand to create footwear collections targeting women and their world. The link with design dates back to 1988 when the artist, poet and philosopher Ettore Sottsass chose Tissot for the making of a watch allowing him to express the strength of his creativity and his brilliant intuition. Since then Tissot has always collaborated with important artists, among whom Giulio Iacchetti for the project “Time for Innovation”. Tissot is proud to enhance this bond with one of the most important young Italian designers, Cristina Celestino, promoting her project “CORALLO” that sees the Brera district as an iconic place for a surreal viewpoint, through a dialogue in empathy with the territory, in a time of contemplation. Through her works Cristina shows her ability to wisely combine craftsmanship and contemporary approach, a mix of tradition and innovation reflecting the values and Dna of the Swiss watch-making brand. SALVAMI | ANDATA-RITORNO by Franco Mazzucchelli Just outside Ventura Centrale, on the Milanese cobblestones, the art installation SALVAMI | ANDATA-RITORNO (Save me | Round-trip) by the Italian contemporary artist Franco Mazzucchelli arises. It is an ‘inflatable’ installation that caries the master’s signature, an enormous structure made in PVC and concrete that spreads itself for hundreds meters spiralling through the Ventura Centrale area. The installation addresses the concept of impermanence, of leaving an artwork in the public sphere without a prescribed outcome - a reoccurring theme in the work of Mazzucchelli. It becomes a symbol of taking care of each other in a society that experiences increasing intolerance and marginalization. The installation at Ventura Centrale is organised alongside a large Mazzucchelli retrospective at the Museo del Novecento at the Piazza Duomo, exemplifying Ventura Project’s close collaborations with local Milanese partners. The project is curated by Sabino Maria Frassà. To be presented at Ventura Projects, CRAMUM, FAS (Gruppo Ferrante Aporti Sammartini), Fondazione Cure Onlus, with the support of Milano Municipality | Municipio 2 and on the occasion of Mazzucchelli’s solo exhibition ‘Non ti abbandonero’ mai’ at Museo del Novecento under the patronage of Milan Municipality.

PAPER and LIGHT by Denis Guidone and Tomoko Fuse When you walk into the newly added Ventura Centrale vault, it is like you entered a Japanese garden, a Karesansui, in all its delicacy and elegance. You have arrived in the intimate installation by the Italian designer Denis Guidone, showing the newest step in his impressive career. After years of developing his pleated lamp in fabric, Guidone met the origami artist Tomoko Fuse, by many considered as a renowned master in the discipline, and the light consultant Masahiko Aso. Together with project assistant Yusuke Taguchi they created a new series of lamps and objects out of washi paper. “It is very inspiring to use old traditional techniques for contemporary applications,” Guidone explains about the complex folded lamps that will create a beautiful shadow play in the Ventura Centrale’s vault between the roughness of the space and the lightness of the origami.

At the Diner To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Surface is teaming up with celebrated architect David Rockwell to explore American design now by recasting a U.S. icon. Aptly called The Diner, the experience will take place at Ventura Centrale during the Salone del Mobile design and furniture fair and will offer a coast-to-coast journey through the United States. Four distinct environments—the Roadside Diner, the East Coast Luncheonette, the Midwest Diner, and the West Coast Diner—will riff on aesthetic ideas from around the country with a modern twist. Rockwell’s vision will be enhanced by emerging and established U.S.-based designers, including the distinguished design consultancy 2×4, which is creating a comprehensive visual identity for the project. During the day, The Diner will offer a contemporary take on quintessentially American food and drink, and feature a @CamronPR conversation series and other programming; at night, the space will transform into a nightclub featuring performances and parties. Located at Ventura Centrale, The Diner will be a major attraction in Milan: a place where strangers become a community.

Ventura Future Presents: The Design School As... MILAN – Ventura Projects has boosted the appearance of design academies at renowned design events for nearly a decade. Previously, one could only encounter some scattered school exhibitions, until Ventura Projects started organising large-scale overview presentations of international academies. For eight years Ventura Lambrate was the platform where visitors could see what was going on inside of the design school walls. This tradition is carried on with nearly twenty academies showing their best work at Ventura Future (17-22 April, 2018). Design students are the future. They are stimulated to see the design discipline from new angles, they influence the way we think and they make us critical about our lifestyle choices. In this rapidly changing world, it has become essential that academies develop methods to ensure students leave school with the necessary skills and resilience to confront our time. We sat down with some of the professors and education makers of the participating academies to cross-examine them on the status quo of design education and to hear about their Ventura Future exhibitions. The design school as… The Design School as… Moral Compass Kieren Jones, course coordinator and senior tutor at Central Saint Martin’s MA Material Futures, has seen the change in challenges that design students encounter upfront. “Over the last ten years there has been an anxiety, and perhaps even a guilt within the design discipline. Facing such huge problems globally, how can we really justify the act of making?” The Material Futures MA programme therefore does not have a conventional fixed curriculum anymore. Together with experts it defines each year what problems to tackle. The traditional educational structures have been knocked down to create a space where “students can define their own personal research projects and identify their own design approach and methodology.”

Our planet is poised at the brink of a severe environmental crisis. The fact that our planet is poised at the brink of a severe environmental crisis is one of the key topics in The Royal Danish Academy Of Fine Arts Schools Of Architecture, Design And Conservation’s (KADK) education. The Danish school decided to devote three academic years to the 17 United Nations’ Sustainability Goals - goals that deal with different subjects like health and wellbeing, circular economy, gender equality and sustainable construction. This strategic decision comes from the perceived obligation to take the discussion out of the political realm and make it the academy’s responsibility to take part in this development. “It is important to show how our education can contribute with specific solutions for the making of a sustainable society”, says Lene Dammand Lund - rector of KADK. After almost two years of working within this framework, students have showed they embrace this new layer of meaning as a positive obstacle in their practice and will show the results at Ventura Future.

Design Districts / Ventura Future 2018 Press Release questions. “Huge progress is happening in the biotech industry without much notice of the general public - or at least with very unbalanced notice. But where does this progress lead to? And more importantly where do we want it to lead to?” Prof. Mareike Gast of Industrial Design explains: “I see design as a discipline that has the capability and maybe also the duty to ask‚ ‘what if‘ questions, to create artefacts of (wishful) futures in order to explore where the potential and where the danger lies.”

The Design School as… Connector Along with the critical reflection, we see that academies are more and more sharing; between disciplines, among schools and across borders. Academies are the perfect breeding grounds for students to, without constraints, meld together ideas and visions. “Within Material Futures we have seen the blurring of boundaries, a deep engagement with the outside world, be it with scientists, engineers and experts. We fundamentally believe that the future of design is collaborative, multi-disciplinary, fuzzy and no longer possible to pin down as succinctly as we have been able to in the past,” says Kieren Jones about the breaking down of walls between different disciplines. For their project about the future of biotechnology Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design worked closely together with biochemists, biologists, experts in algal biotechnology and other professionals in order to build a project as manifold as possible. The field of biology has become more significant and young designers can learn from the school’s initiated collaborations. At Ventura Future students will show explorative experiments with bio-mineralization and new applications and scenarios of working with algae – all results from these joint efforts.

But exchange of information and creativity exceeds the multidisciplinary approach. Kyoto Design Lab, Kyoto Institute of Technologies and the Design Incubation Centre in collaboration with the National University of Singapore presents a project of cultural exchange and collaboration under the theme of ‘Exchanged Forms’. Born out of the problem of actually visiting each other, Prof. Eizo Okada of the Kyoto Institute of Technology came up with the idea of letting the students from the different schools exchange over long-distance. “I asked the students to communicate with each other only by images and short explanations, and then to interpret them freely and produce works. I thought that a good misunderstanding would produce good work.”

The Design School as… Innovator Defining the next step is still inherent to the design practice. The industry is presenting us with production that cuts out human involvement. It seems more and more important to cherish student creativity. For the students of the programme Jewellery & Everyday Objects at Pforzheim University innovation is triggered by being curious,
40
@CamronPR
Design Districts / Ventura Future 2018 Press Release think abstractly and be empathetic. “Being able to – and wanting to – go beyond initial realizations fuels independent thinking”, Prof. Christine Lüdeke reflects: “This happens for example by applying a specific technique to a material it wasn't developed for, like design student Franziska Vogt did with 'Pushing Daisies' by mixing the materials plastic, sand and glass and their respective forming techniques, exploring new aesthetic languages.” Innovation also rises from the learning to think beyond one’s context, Vogt insistis: “A valuable experience in this regard is having the students to trade their projects for a short time. They learn to relinquish their own framework and stretch their minds to enter other parameters and thought processes.”

Innovation has long been at the core of the University of Iowa, whose mission was first formulated in the 1920s. For decades the university has strived to bring together artists and scholars to experiment and let its students play outside of the sandbox. Their pioneering 3D Design Programme fits right in with this mission, offering leading-edge courses in Computer Modelling, Virtual Reality and Computer Numerical Control, laser-cutting, thermoforming and Rapid Prototyping. They will be the first fully specialised educational 3D design programme that will present at a Ventura event, showing how the technical skills and digital tools they master can be incorporated in ‘traditional’ environments. Ventura Future Much has changed in design education over the last decade, but what remains is the thrill of bringing together design schools from all corners of the world. A territory, where contemporary arts and disciplines become an integral part of daily life, with the aim to engage unpublished projects in direct contact with a historical atmosphere. Once, this Liberty Palace was the meeting place of world renowned artists who were part of the Futurist Movement. During the Forties, the last Futurist artists met, worked and debated in the building, setting the basis for ground-breaking aesthetic currents. Now FuturDome, curated by Isisuf - International Institute on Futurism Studies, under the Artistic Direction of Atto Belloli Ardessi, is an independent museum where nextgeneration residential spaces host cultural events, organized into the building common areas, or directly in the private apartments. The fluidity of FuturDome spaces allows creatives to install micro-worlds of highly aesthetic and sensorial impact within the domestic scenarios.

Design Districts / Superdesign Show 2018 Press Release
Superstudio Più – Via Tortona 27 – Milan Press Preview 16 April 2018, 10am - 8pm (press only) 17-21 April 2018, 10am - 9pm 22 April 2018, 10am - 6pm Although Superdesign Show’s mission towards quality, excellence, research and the “less fair, more museum” original concept remains undiminished, the common theme that characterise every edition renovates: this year ONLY THE BEST, manifesto proposed by Gisella Borioli. The selection focuses and highlights big names, innovative projects, life-style trends, technological solutions that improve the environment and everyday life, countries always at the top in the highquality design such as Japan, and the emerging centres of new design, like a surprising Egypt. “I can really feel the twenty years of Superstudio Più getting closer, and the creation, in 2000, with the new born Fuorisalone, a new way to communicate design and “to do fair”, a concept that renovates and integrates the traditional, and yet important trade fair. Looking towards the future without repudiating the past, I try every year to totally renew the Design event, aligning on the latest trends, on intuitions and on the most significant proposals. The turning point of 2018 is called “Only The Best”, and this is the reason why I wanted, at my side again, Giulio Cappellini as art director and protagonist. These are the four compass points, the most anticipated and extended projects that will lighten up Superstudio: the super solo exhibition by Nendo, the maybe most successful design studio, the high-tech and sustainability international brand Dassault Systèmes with a project by Kengo Kuma, the Smart City exhibition extended until half May, as well at Superstudio Più, and Superloft the house that everyone fancies living in, with Italian top design brands”, says Gisella Borioli. SUPERLOFT The Superloft imagined by Cappellini is an imaginary yet real home, cool and eclectic, cultured and elegant, with the participation of the most interesting protagonists of the Made in Italy design and the masters craftsmen who can create beautiful and precious things. A house that combines side-byside iconic pieces by the most important furniture brands, in a synergy between contemporaneity and vision. Every space of a hypothetical home where a family could actually live will be explored. From the living to the wellness room, from the kitchen to the bedrooms, from verandas to service spaces. A proper superloft, whose idea is to create an International home: that could be placed in Paris as well as in New York in Berlin or Shanghai. "Now, more than ever, people want to live in a home that reflects their tradition, culture, identity. I tried to create a wide-ranging space that is not just a status to exhibit but describes the pleasure of

living in cosy spaces, surrounded by beautiful objects, now discreet and declared, that become essential presences in our existence" states Giulio Cappellini. The following will participate to Supeloft: Boffi, Cappellini, Designers Guild, Flaminia, Fontanot, Icone Luce, Linvisibile, Living Divani, Magis, Meisterwerke, Oikos, Orsoni, Pecchioli Firenze, Poliform, Poltrona Frau, Salvatori, Trend Group, Vetrerie di Empoli, Wave Murano Glass. And designers: Michael Anastassiades, Ron Arad, Ronan e Erwan Bouroullec, Achille e Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Tom Dixon, Rodolfo Dordoni, Silvia Fanticelli, Renzo Frau, Ron Gilad, Konstantin Grcic, Jaime Hayón, Piero Lissoni, Shi-Chieh Lu, Alessandro Mendini, Jasper Morrison, Nendo, Neri & Hu, Elisa Ossino, Marco Pagnoncelli, Andrèe Putman, Philippe Starck, Leonardo Talarico, Marcel Wanders, Norbert Wangen. Superloft will be running also in the evening, after the closing hours, with private dinners invitations in this top-design house. A different view to share emotions of design with friends and business relations. THE GREAT EXHIBITION BY NENDO “Nendo: forms of movement” is the extraordinary, spectacular, sensorial exhibition, proposed by the award-winning and very anticipated Japanese studio Nendo, an undisputable icon of contemporary design, who this year will bring the viewer towards a mysterious labyrinth: in an over 800 sq.mt. space 10 concepts based on the idea of movement, is born from an object’s function, material or way of production. The exhibition will show not only the final products, but also samples and drafts, in a fascinating journey in the heart of design creation. MORE JAPAN Japan loves Superstudio. In fact, in addition to Nendo, an entire enclave of successful companies, start-ups and hubs of promotion of Made in Japan design arrives in Central Point, for an itinerary through space and time, contrasts between the most inventive technology and millennial traditions. Kawai, in collaboration with the light artist Takahiro Matsuo, exhibits the poetic installation “Crystal Rain” where a piano with a transparent end, created to celebrate the company’s ninety years, floats on a water glass generating a light waterfall to every note. Yokohama Makers Village, a network of companies highly specialised in the production of metal located in the Yokohama area, is back with Reflection/Shadow to explore the material’s characteristics in a game of reflections and shadows. Japan Design Week, Japanese design festival supported by the Design Association npo transfers to Milan. On the spotlight are the winners of the competition held in Hirosaki City under the “apple” theme, that became a lamp, then a table, chair, sandals, kimono. And a series of films that recount the Design Week in various cities of Japan. Budbrand, the company dedicated to support the future generation of Japanese designers, is back at Superstudio Più with a project inspired by the “Celebrations” theme, with gift-objects to give joy to whoever receives them. To complete the Japanese enclave is Yoy, extremely young and award-winning design studio from Tokyo, that exhibits three new accessories, two lamps and one wall clock, and introduces for the first time ever the updated and renovated edition of an innovative speaker that combines sound and visual elements. The itinerary ends with a tribute to one of the most important Japanese designers of the 20th century, “Homage to Kuramata”, a poetic installation curated by Antonio Facco, admirer of Shiro Kuramata’s work (1934 – 1991): in a bed of roses we find the curvilinear forms of the well-known chest of drawers, the transparent materials, the acrylic and the steel net that dematerialize the object and challenge gravity. ENVIRONMENT AND TECHNOLOGY With the “Design in the Age of the Experience” exhibition, Dassault Systèmes will reveal an iconic installation that encapsulates “Design For Life” concept and reacts to the increasing problem of air pollution. In a bid to tackle this environmental and social issue, Dassault Systèmes has given Kengo

Kuma and Associates a challenge to create a solution-based design that maximizes the use of existing pollution and neutralizing solutions. INNOVATION OF MATERIALS AND TEXTURES Superdesign Show is research and innovation also on contemporary materials, sustainability and new technologies with two projects, Materials Village and Smart City, by Material ConneXion Italia, that are back, expanded and renovated for the edition 2018. Materials Village, a successful and by now consolidated format, for the fourth year in a row at Superstudio Più, hosts over 20 companies connected to the world of materials and Avant-guard production processes. Materials Village proposes every year a strong-impact set up and this year doubles presenting two great installations dedicated to the theme of sustainability and material in the Art Garden. A specular tower by Studio Marco Piva shows materials at the base of an architectural project, whereas another installation of excellence on the theme of circular economy is curated by the famous designer Yona Friedman for CONAI and Consorzi di Filiera for packaging recycle. Among many new entries, a name of excellence stands out such as PUMA with the MIT Design Lab of Boston, that together will present a research project on a performant fabric that reacts depending on the percentage of atmospheric pollution. On materials’ theme, the itinerary continues through the Polyrey exhibition, a French company specialised for over 60 years in the production of top quality ornamental laminates. Focused on trends and in constant renovation, Polyrey launches the new collection (317 decors of which 93 unreleased and 8 new surface finishings) intended for interior design, emblems its ability to blend technical performances and daring aesthetics aims. Ilva Wood Coatings, a brand of Gruppo IVM, presents “Wood coating stories”: in a spectacular set up by Ferruccio Laviani. The company, among the world leading manufacturers and Italy’s biggest one in wood varnishes presents innovative finishes giving wood brand new texture. On show the award-winning projects of the concept supported by Istituto Marangoni. A technical-emotional itinerary, for Caimi Brevetti, 65 years of history and hundreds of patented projects: an exhibiting space to present soundproofing panels in an unusual way. A sequence of scenic design with Snowsound and Snowsound Fiber Textile technology as protagonists allow to experiment and at the same time activate the sight, touch and hearing senses through a real experience that the visitor can do by going through a sound tunnel. Gore-Tex presents a technologic installation of great visual impact, with light as protagonist, that by means of a proper light show will highlight one of the key characteristics of the famous material, its versatility. “Transparent is the new color” a project by Madea Milano, where methacrylate is protagonist, enhanced through hand manufacturing techniques and unusual combinations among Italian manufacture refined materials such as marble and wood. Ecological design is the focus point of ecoBirdy’s research: the first furniture collection for kids made exclusively with recycles plastic and created with small coloured pieces of reused toys to create a new unique one. Back this year, Superdesign Show’s partner is Radici Contract, number one for personalised carpets upon requests, for a soft and elegant floor chosen by the most important fashion brands. For 2018 edition, Radici created in the common corridors a sophisticated carpet of two contrasting dark browns, burgundy and dusty turquoise. On Superstudio’s evocative Roof, location of the first Milanese urban vegetable garden and the “Terzo Paradiso” permanent installation by Michelangelo Pistoletto, “Fuoriformato” collection by Target Group presents the new decorative proposals especially created by artists, architects and designers on 3m high ceramic sheets. A MONTH-LONG SMART CITY Impossible talking about new materials without developing also the current issue of the Smart Cities. second edition of the event-exhibition “Smart City: Materials, Technologies & People” by Materials ConneXion expands this year taking up 1000 sq.mt. The exhibition suggests a reflection on the theme of the intelligent city starting from its citizens introducing materials and technological solutions that can be applied to the most significant changes in the fields of Advanced Building and Infrastructures, Connected City, Smart Living - Smart People, Sustainable and Circular City, Integrated Mobility, Food Policies and Urban Agriculture. The exhibition will launch along with the Design Week and will stay on show for one month so as to be visited during the Milan Food Week in May, this thanks to Superstudio’s hospitality and partnership with Seeds&Chips, international hub on Food Innovation. URBAN TECHNOLOGY New Mobility is the main theme of the Stahl & Partners research that, within the “New Mobility meets Interior Design” project, the question begins “can a car fulfil further needs other than simple mobility?” and imagine a self- driving vehicle, a future “living space” to live when and where you want. To shape the space with reflections, images and sounds, this is the path proposed by Cristian Russo and Marco Pietro Ricci of dArk Studio Milano with “Prospettive_Perspectives”. The installation explores themes of “moving architecture” and “dialogue of the opposites” giving life to a project that takes to extreme limits the state of the art of LED Technology by MacroPiX, Italian manufacturer of sophisticated LED displays. The very Italian Iooota presents Jarvis in Milan, a smart response to a new living concept. All in only one mobile application that combines security, energy-saving and remote control, basically a virtual butler at your disposal, always. LIFESTYLE ICONS An ironic and amusing exhibition curated by the Danish designer Niklas Jacob, “IDEA – The Design Supermarket” as a tribute to large distribution chains: 18 designers from 6 different nations will exhibit flat-pack projects with a “Do it Youself” assembling, not however the usual objects… so here is the assembling spare tyre, the hiding-lovers wardrobe, the pedestal for the egocentric ones, the bookcase for only a favourite book, a dining table for those always on a diet, the cradle that seems a boat, a portable shelter for dogs, the table with interchangeable legs, and many more. S.Pellegrino brings unique design pieces to the top tables of the world, with a Design Special Edition “The Journey of Water”. Three international designers coordinated by Giulio Cappellini, redesign S.Pellegrino’s iconic label for three exclusive limited editions, reinterpreting it with their own personal vision and presenting three especially made emotional installations at Superdesign Show. The Swiss watch makers maison Rado and Istituto Marangoni Milano – The School of Design will present the very anticipated final project of “Rado Star Prize Italia 2018” an original pop-up store inspired by the “Natural Freedom” theme created by the students of Istituto Marangoni in the fields of Interior, Product, Visual, Fashion and Accessories Design. NEW BORDERS OF DESIGN Superstudio extends the horizons of contemporary living by exhibiting “Nile Selection” in MyOwnGallery, the best proposals of Egyptian furniture industry selected by Giulio Cappellini. A house swinging between tradition and innovation in a game of alternating woods and natural materials with fabrics and lacquering that explore the theme of colour. The following will exhibit: Amr Helmy Designs, La Roche, Meuble El Chark, Mohm, Nadim, Richie by Shoulah. The twine between art and traditional handcraft, on one hand, contemporary design and graphic, on the other, they characterize “Java Blues”, exhibition of furniture, art objects, fabrics and ceramics presented by Indonesian Contemporary Art & Design by Artura, that since 2009, organizes every year an art and design exhibition to explore the treasures of Indonesian heritage from a contemporary viewpoint.
