Yves Béhar “Tylko is building the future of furniture design. It’s the first technology and easy consumer experience that enables deep customisation, distributed local manufacturing and a fun mobile app. Now anyone can build, detail, shape and colour the ideal furniture piece for their home, this is a new way to design.” -Yves Béhar

To supplement their own design know-how and thinking, Tylko approached world renowned designer Yves Behar regarding a collaboration after meeting him in 2014 at LAUNCH Festival in San Francisco. Yves has designed the Hub Table, allowing each customer to co-design this piece within a set of Yves Behar varied and controlled choices, from basic sizing to proportions to craft details. Thanks to the Tylko customisation experience, the Hub Table can serve many different spaces and purposes: as a conference table, dining table, working desk, kitchen table, or coffee table. Such versatility is achieved in part by a curated choice of leg angles, from a domestic 13 degree angle, to an office-ready 2 degree angle. A variety of crafted leg details create distinct personalities – with three shape algorithms, spheres, cones and simple rectangular legs, the design can be finessed in the Tylko app. Yves has advised on Tylko’s overall business and now sits on the advisory board.

Founders “As designers we’re really aware of the quality of our personal space. When furnishing our own homes, we spend so much time looking for well-designed timeless pieces that we cannot necessarily afford. We discovered that there’s no current option for these within the midmarket in the furniture industry, and Tylko is the answer to that.” -Mikołaj Molenda (Co-Founder)

Founded by entrepreneurs from design, technology and business backgrounds, Tylko’s mission is to bring good, customised design seamlessly to a large audience - cutting out the middle-man and delivering bespoke pieces directly to customers. The Tylko founders are experienced and creative interdisciplinary designers Hanna Kokczyńska and Jacek Majewski, entrepreneur Benjamin Kuna, architect Mikołaj Molenda and parametric designer Michał Piasecki.

Products The Hub Table may be finished in a high-density, extra durable matte black or white laminate, or in natural oak vaneer. The frame and legs can be colour and finish matched to the Hub Tabletop to ensure a harmonious design. The in-house Tylko design team has created Ivy Shelf, a piece that allows users to customise the critical details – such as the aesthetic finish and inner configuration – which can be adapted to meet the most exacting standards and spaces. Four styles can be applied to reflect distinct personalities: Slant, Gradient, Pattern and Grid are automatically regulated by the Tylko app and web configurator to ensure maximum functionality and visual harmony for both public and private environments. Beautifully crafted from handpicked laminated plywood or solid sycamore, Ivy Shelf is durable and offers a bold statement on the merging of classic design and modern production methods. Polish design talent Krystian Kowalski has created the Totem Mill, an object that harnesses the principles and capabilities of the Tylko app with an entry-level product. The Totem Mill is a perfect design statement for the home, crafted from high-quality rolled beech wood elements, lacquered in a transparent or carefully curated colour, and based on a durable ceramic milling mechanism built for many years of use. Versatile in function as well as form, it works with salt, pepper and the array of spices found in a larder or cupboard.

Take advantage of its modular design and explore different bottoms, middles and tops, as well as a beautiful curated colour pallet. A precise grinder that’s built to last. For Totem Mill’s grinding mechanism, we chose CrushGrind® – the original ceramic mechanism by Danish company IDEAS. Like Totem Mill itself, this mechanism is designed and manufactured with absolute precision. Unlike steel, it will not oxide, meaning your spices will stay fresh and tasty for much longer. Designer behind the product. The Totem Mill is the brainchild of Krystian Kowalski, a renowned Polish designer whose work focuses on finding intelligent, humancentered solutions that go beyond what is obvious. Krystian graduated from the Design Products department at the Royal College of Art in London. Today, Krystian works with leading international furniture and product brands through his own design practice based in Warsaw.
