the details are staggering: The snow haul crews have been tackling 163 km of paved roadways and 22 km of gravel. Additionally, 44 km of paved alleys and 21 km of gravelled alleys have been cleaned or are slated for clearing. On a typical day 300-350 truckloads of snow are loaded and hauled by a fleet of three graders, a loader, four City of Camrose owned trucks and nine trucks operating under contract. As of noon Monday, the snow haul crew has hauled 3500 tandem-equivalent loads of snow to designated snow-dump areas. The massive clearing effort, much appreciated by local residents, comes with a hefty price – approximately $1,550 per operational hour. This aspect of the city’s snow clearing and related costs does not include highways, airport, trail system and routine sanding and blading. The impressive campaign could wrap up before the weekend. According to Ray Leiren, City of Camrose Public Works, three factors impact the speed of snow removal: “weather, mechanical breakdowns and the number of vehicles which remain parked on streets in designated snow removal areas. Realistically, every time someone does not move their vehicle out of our way, it costs us 10-15 minutes of additional time.”

About Time Productions celebrates opening of new studio By Dan Jensen
About Time Productions celebrated the opening of its brand new studio at 5013-46 Street Jan. 9. “It’s the perfect size for us,” explained About Time Productions artistic director Cathie Johnson. “We’ve been running our programs here since last September.” About Time Productions took possession of the space last May. “I was buying products from the Soap Stop and inquired with the owner as to whether it was available,” said Johnson. “It turned out we met his criteria because most of the courses we offer happen when his business is closed.” The majority of renovations were conducted during the summer with support received from generous individuals and the Camrose business community. Norm Mayer, from Central Agencies, sponsored the signage on the outside of the building, Helen Grattidge, Creative Interior and Floor Coverings Ltd. and the Troy Berg Memorial Fund paid for the cost of the new flooring, and Crystal Glass paid for the interior mirrors. A silent auction fundraiser at Boston Pizza raised approximately $25,000. About Time Productions president Sandra Howard expressed heartfelt appreciation at the ribbon cutting to all the generous donors.
Mayor Norm Mayer cut a boa to officially open the new About Time Productions studio last week. In the picture are, left to right, back, Sandra Howard, president, About Time Productions, George Parnell, Crystal Glass, Will McClellan, McClellan Wheaton Chevrolet Buick GMC, Mayor Mayer, Brenda Gurr, director, About Time Productions, Diane and Doug Berg, Troy Berg Memorial Fund, Cathie Johnson, About Time Productions director, centre row, left to right, Grace Braaten, Caden Leonhardt, Laken Biletski, Amber Bonter, sitting, left to right, Kayla Burns, Kyra Prevost, Cassidy Burns and Elyse Stang.
“Without your help we couldn’t have made this a reality,” said Howard. “I want to thank you on behalf of About Time Productions, on behalf of the teachers and on behalf of the children of About Time Productions.”
About Time Productions has gone from a small theatre group that planned and performed one musical nine years ago to one that, in addition to producing four shows per year (sponsored by McClellan Wheaton Chevrolet Buick
GMC), conducts numerous classes in a variety of disciplines. “It started out with me thinking that we could do a play with kids and luckily I ended up getting parents who believed in what I was doing,” said
Johnson. “We have people on our board now who work many hours doing things for children because of the love they have for children.” About Time Productions will present Suessical the Musical at the Bailey Theatre Feb. 28 to March 9.
Community Services faced with difficult balancing act By Dan Jensen
Camrose Community Services will be faced with the difficult task in 2014 of determining what is an acceptable price that the public should be asked to pay for accessing recreational programs and facilities. “We are trying to find acceptable price points without pushing people away,” said Community Services general manager Paul Nielsen in a presentation to committee of the whole council Jan. 6. “We want people to come out and use our facilities for wellness and the greater good of the community. We don’t want to be driving people away with our pricing structure.” The Camrose Aquatic Centre is one facility at which fees for programs are expected to increase in 2014. “We are recommending increases there,” said Nielsen, “because the programs are very good value and we are on the low side of what is happening in the marketplace.” Community services will at some point be seeking direction from council
on the percentage of the cost of operating facilities it should be recovering. “There are some benchmarks out there. The arena could be 60 or 70 per cent cost recovery. We have never set such a point and council has never set such a point for us,” said Nielsen. “If we were to go down that road we would have a target and from there we could manage and try to reach those goals. It would help us set our prices and determine how aggressive we can be with other aspects of our operation like advertising or selling names on our facilities.” Community Services will not be looking to increase staffing levels in 2014 despite the difficulty it sometimes faces in getting the work done while senior staff are away on vacation in the summer. “We are challenged to get all the work done but we manage. We are very flexible in terms of how we resource our staff out to the various areas,” said Nielsen. “Last year we did close the Community Centre on five occasions before its publicized closing time
of day because people were on holidays or someone had called in sick and there was no replacement. In those cases nobody was pre-empted and no program was affected.” Nielsen said the City of Camrose operated facilities offer good value for the dollar in terms of prevention of illnesses. “We know we have an obesity epidemic and that the best prevention for that is activity. Wii is not a substitute for sports and if you play Wii at home you are not getting your heart rate up.” City of Camrose primary facilities include the Camrose Recreation Centre with its three arenas and curling rink and Camrose Community Centre, which includes the field house or old Drill Hall. “The ice plant at the new arena continues to present problems,” said Nielsen. “We have had more issues with it than the 1967 ice plant (at Max McLean Arena). We switched service companies a few years ago, but last year we still spent $150,000 on upgrades. We shouldn’t have those problems in a building that is six or seven
years old, but there were some design flaws.” Secondary facilities include 26 City of Camrose-owned playground structures, the Stoney Creek Centre, public washrooms at Jubilee Park, Bill Fowler Centre and Stoney Creek Centre, Kin Park with its four ball diamonds and athletic field, Rudy Swanson Park with its five athletic fields, skateboard park, parking areas and buildings, Duggan Park with its two ball diamonds, and Grand Drive Park with its one ball diamond. “Playground facilities undergo weekly cursory inspections in the summer and a monthly rigorous inspection,” said Nielsen. “We are challenged to meet CSA inspection standards from a resource perspective.” Stand alone facilities operated by the City include Camrose Public Library, the Bill Fowler Centre, Golf Course clubhouse and grounds, the Fire Hall, Camrose Aquatic Centre, Chuck MacLean Arts Centre, Centennial Museum main building, Camrose Children’s Cen-
tre and Mirror Lake Centre. Nielsen said the concerns about water temperature at the Camrose Aquatic Centre are more of a perception than reality. “We maintain the water temperature at 29.5 degrees, which is higher by a half degree than eight other facilities in Alberta. If you go any higher than that you start to run into problems with bacteria. Other facilities have separate tanks with smaller volumes of water that can be drained more often.” Nielsen said that while the Camrose Swim Club cannot hold competitions at the Camrose Aquatic Centre because of depth issues (it has been declared to be 7.62 cm too shallow by FINA and Natation Canada and Swim Alberta), it is still able to practice diving starts in the deep end and conduct mock races with swimmers standing at the end of the pool. He said the City of Camrose pays the cost of pool rentals when the Camrose Swim Club hosts meets in other communities.

Ski Club presents funding request By Dan Jensen
The Camrose Ski Club presented a request for 2014 funding of $15,000 to Camrose City council Dec. 16. “We would appreciate a modest increase, said Camrose Ski Club president Morton Asfeldt. “It has been many years since the grant was last increased. The Camrose Ski Club received $13,000 from the City in 2013. Councillor Ray McIsaac said the grant request is not outlandish, and that he would be in favour of supporting it. Councillor Max Lindstrand agreed, noting that the City should be looking to help. “No other group provides more volunteer service than you folks, said Lindstrand. Camrose Ski Club currently has around 260 adult and youth members ranging in age from three to over 80 who participate in cross country skiing, biathlon, luge, running, snowboarding, mountain biking and triathlon programs. “We have experienced strong growth over the last three years, said Asfeldt. “Our memberships are $40 for individuals and $100 for families. The salaries of the cross country skiing and biathlon coaches are jointly funded by Augustana, Camrose Ski Club, Cross Country Alberta and Biathlon Alberta. “The renewal of the relationship between Augustana and the Ski Club with bonafide shared coaching is truly benefitting both organizations, said Asfeldt. Camrose Ski Club develops and maintains an extensive summer and winter valley trail system that is used by both members and non members, and is involved in hosting events such as the Ole Uffda Loppet, Ole’s Spring Runoff, Calforax Cups, the Over 55 Master’s Selection Race and 5 Peaks Race. Groups that use the facilities regularly include the Camrose Cadets, Wetaskiwin Cadets, Alder Flats 4-H, Battle River Schools, and Purple Martin Festival committee. “The annual operating budget is about $50,000 to maintain the basic operation (trail grooming, coaching salaries, volunteer support and development and basic facility maintenance), said Asfeldt. “Revenues and expenses above $50,000 generally represent grant funding for special programs such as trail enhancement, new grooming machinery, and coaching grants. Overall, the Camrose Ski Club is financially stable. Continued on page 30

North steps into new role at Bailey By Dan Jensen
Peter North remembers seeing the boarded up Bailey Theatre during one of his many visits to Main Street and thinking about its future potential. Today, he is one of the key people who will be helping turn that potential into reality. North started a new job this past Thursday as the Bailey Theatre Society’s manager and artistic director. “We are really delighted to be able to work with him in the year ahead,” said Bailey Theatre board member Jeremy Mouat, while introducing North to Camrose City council Jan. 6. North approached the Bailey Theatre board after helping out after hearing about the need for someone with his skills and connections who could promote and manage the theatre. “He told us he felt that the Bailey Theatre was a very important project, not only for Camrose, but for Alberta and Western Canada,” said Bailey Theatre Society president Judy McLean. North’s responsibilities will include programming and promotions.. “He will be booking the acts, working with local people and organizations who want to rent the theatre, and

setting up a season,” said McLean. North, who has been involved in the regional roots music scene for the last 30 years as a journalist in print, radio and television, and as a promoter of live music, believes that the Bailey Theatre is one of the three jewels of theatres of its size in western Canada, along with
the Empress Theatre in Fort McLeod, and the Capital Theatre in Nelson, B.C. “I don’t think there is any more beautiful and inviting venue that I have seen,” he said. “The fact that it is situated in the beautiful downtown that you have could make it a real destination point and a hub for a lot culture for a lot of different societies and organizations. It could just be a huge part of the fabric of Camrose given the proper opportunities.” North has had what he calls the privilege of renting the Bailey Theatre as a promoter a couple of times over the past two years, each time leaving with a positive impressions about both the theatre crew and the people who were attending the shows. “I am glad to say that we were in the black, so that is always a good thing,” he said. North knows it will take a little while to get his feet
wet, but expects to be in full swing by March. “I really look forward to becoming part of your community,” he said, “and seeing what I can do to further the cause of the Bailey.” McLean said she is ecstatic that North has decided to be part of what the Bailey wants to accomplish. “To have someone of his stature come on is extraordinary for Camrose. He is so well known in the music business all over western Canada.” North has been a print journalist for 22 years with major dailies, and for a decade covered folk, blues, blue grass and country music for the Edmonton Journal. His pieces have appeared in many national and regional magazines, and he has written the liner notes for over three dozen albums, including Herb Ellis
and Duke Robillard’s More Conversations in Swing Guitar, Prairie Oyster’s Greatest Hits and the Grammy nominated world/blues disc Slide to Freedom from Doug Cox and Salil Bhatt. In the field of television, North co-produced the weekly and nationally broadcast roots music show, Country Beat, on CBC. North was named Music Journalist of the Year in 1996 at the annual Canadian Music Industry Awards, and Radio, TV or Print Media Person of the Year in both 2004 and 2005. He annually organizes the acoustic blues series Front Porch Roots Revue and, along with Holger Peterson was an executive producer on an album project titled The Gift: A Tribute to Ian Tyson. North has hosted the CKUA radio program Dead Ends and Detours for a number of years.

All you want to know about the Olympics By Dan Jensen
Is it actually possible that Canada could “own the podium” at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia next month? That’s a question Augustana’s associate professor of physical education Stacey Lorenz will be attempting to answer during a special lunch and learn session entitled Myths, Medals and the Winter Olympics in the Augustana Forum building Thursday, Jan. 23. Lorenz will also be explaining some of the Olympic Games truths and fallacies, why professional athletes could be considered more legitimate Olympians than amateurs, as well as why countries spend so much money on hosting the Games and winning medals. The cost of the 2014 Olympics is expected to exceed $51 billion, making them by far the most expensive in history, summer or winter, and more than three times the budget of the 2012 London Games. The costs have soared way above previous projections amid allegations of financial mismanagement, corruption and the dispensation of favours. The lunch and learn session is expected to draw high interest from casual followers of the Games, marathon Olympic viewers, and sports enthusiasts. “They’ll be able to learn more about the myths, medals and meaning of the modern Olympics,” stated an Augustana poster. The session will be held in the Dr. Roger Epp Conference room on the upper floor of the Augustana Forum, starting at 12 noon. A $5 admission fee will include the cost of a lunch. Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to reserve a seat by calling Augustana
at 780-672-1626, or e-mailing alumni@augustana.ca. Local Olympians
Camrose has been the home of many Olympians over the years. Cross-country skier Carol Gibson-Coyne competed for Canada in the Calgary Winter Olympics in 1988 and was in Vancouver as a physiotherapist for our biathlon team. She offered colour commentary for the skiing, biathlon and Nordic combined events in Torino (2006) on CBC. She has long been an advocate and was a past coach for the Canadian junior and senior women’s cross-country ski teams. Jane Isakson competed in the biathlon at Albertville (1992) and Lillehammer (1994) and is now a painter and wilderness advocate in Whitehorse, Yukon. She earned her bachelor of arts in Norwegian language and literature at Augustana in 1989, where she learned about the sport. Susan (Stewart) Massitti, a physiotherapist with University of Calgary Sports Medicine Centre and the Canadian Sport Centre Calgary, was named Augustana’s athlete of the year in 1982. She accompanied the Canadian swim team to Atlanta (1996) and Sydney (2000). She was physiotherapist to Canada’s snowboarding team in Torino (2006) and went to Beijing (2008). Massitti competed in long track speed skating in Nagano in 1998. She has published two books to help people help themselves to better health. After competing in Albertville (1992), Canadian biathlon competitor Yvonne Visser was injured and unable to compete in Lillehammer (1994). Since then, the Nanaimo, B.C. massage therapist accompanied our
Olympians to Torino (2006), our Paralympians to Beijing (2008) and Vancouver (2010) to help our athletes perform at the top of their potential. Glenn Rupertus competed as a biathlete in the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, the 1992 Olympics in Albertville-Les Saisies, France, and the 1988 Olympics in Calgary. David Leoni competed as a biathlete in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, where he placed 41st in the men’s 10 km sprint, 45th in the men’s 12.5 km pursuit, and 64th in the men’s 20 km. Clarence Servold became Canada’s Junior Nordic Combined champion two years after graduating from Camrose Lutheran College in 1946. He studied engineering in Seattle and Denver, earning U.S. accolades and a 2004 induction to the University of Denver Ski Hall of Fame. Clarence competed for Canada at the 1956 and 1960 Olympic Winter Games. Afterwards he coached Canada’s Nordic Ski Team and continued to compete internationally. Through his long career, his engineering skills and passion for skiing were combined in efforts to design or rebuild ski facilities across Canada. Clarence was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 1980 and the Canadian Ski Hall of Fame in 1984, and received Augustana’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2001. At the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, he was invited to light the Canmore Nordic Centre’s Olympic torch. Irvin Servold won Canada’s first ski jumping championship while a student at Camrose Lutheran College, and twice represented Canada in the Winter Olympic Games: 1956 and 1960 in both
Cross Country and Nordic Combined. He won the International Intercollegiate Ski Meet in Banff three years in a row. He was Nordic Combined National Champion in 1955 and 1972, and the University of Alberta’s Outstanding Male Athlete in 1959. He continues to compete around Alberta and B.C. each winter, and also internationally every year in the Masters’ World Cup. Irvin is a life member of the Canadian Olympic Association and the Canadian Ski Association. He was one of the founding members of Cross Country Alberta, known in its early days as the Alberta Ski Division.. He has coached at national and international levels in Nordic Combined, Cross Country and Ski Jumping. In 1978 he helped with the initial site selection for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympic Games. Irvin was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 1980 and into the Canadian Ski Hall of Fame in 1985. He was recognized with a place on the University of Alberta Wall Of Fame in 1987, and received Augustana’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2001. Hans Skinstad, also helped developed the biathlon team from 1982 to 1986. An Olympian himself (crosscountry skiing, 1976 Innsbruck), he trained many of Augustana’s future Olympians, including Gibson, Isakson and Visser. He left Augustana to become the head coach of the Canadian Olympic biathlon team for the 1988 Olympics in Calgary and as Augustana’s head biathlon coach in 2009.

The real act of marriage takes place in the heart, not in the ballroom or church or synagogue. It’s a choice you make – not just on your wedding day, but over and over again – and that choice is reflected in the way you treat your husband or wife. – Barbara de Angelis
Symbolic gestures are commonplace during wedding ceremonies. The exchange of rings, stomping on a glass and lighting of candles are each among the various traditions associated with different faiths. Couples who would like to try something a bit different can opt for pouring sand. Choose two different
colored sands and decorative vessels that can hold the sand until a special time in the ceremony. You also will need another large, clear container that will contain the sand once it is poured. A glass vase or heart-shaped vessel works well. To symbolize the joining of two lives together, both the bride and groom can take
one of the colors of sand and begin pouring them together into the larger container. The ribbons of sand will join and meld together, much as the couple’s separate lives will now become one. The finished sand art can be kept on a mantle as a remembrance of the wedding day for years to come.

Preserve your wedding gown You spent weeks, maybe even months searching for it. And then you wore it in front of family, friends and your now husband. You were a vision of white topped with satin, lace, beads and more. Something as special as your wedding gown shouldn’t just be tossed in a closet after the big day. Protect your gown by having it professionally cleaned and preserved by an expert dry cleaner or gown preservationist. Have your gown preserved as soon as possible after the wedding so stains won’t have time to set in. Every gown needs to be cleaned, even if it looks pristine. Stains like body oil and perspiration are invisible, but can turn the fabric yellow over time. Question the cleaner or preservationist on his preservation process. Different cleaning solvents should be used on gowns than on regular clothing because traditional solutions are too harsh. If cleaned improperly, stains may appear or the fabric may yellow years down the road. After it’s cleaned, the gown will be wrapped and boxed. The folds of the dress and bodice should be stuffed with clean, acid-free tissue to prevent permanent wrinkles. Shoulder pads, perspiration shields or anything made of foam should be removed from the gown, because they can ruin the fabric when they eventually deteriorate. Then, the gown should be put in an acid-free box. Just be sure that you personally inspect the dress before it is boxed up to ensure that stains have been removed and that it has been packed properly. Once you get the box to your home, don’t just put it anywhere. Avoid stashing it in a hot attic, a cold basement, a trunk, a drawer or even the garage. Extreme temperatures can damage gowns. Instead, store it in a climate-controlled area of the home where there are few changes in humidity and temperature. Experts suggest you open the box once a year to make sure the dress hasn’t yellowed. When doing this inspection, wear white cotton gloves so oily fingers don’t touch the fabric. Then, refold the dress to prevent permanent creases. By following the right storage steps, you’ll be able to keep your gown for years. And maybe it can even be an heirloom for your daughter to wear at her wedding someday.

Brides to be received some great ideas for their big day during the 2013 Enchanted Bridal Show at the Camrose Regional Exhibition. The latest in wedding wear was modelled by Olivia Olsen and Camrose Kodiak Scott Ferguson.
Wedding photos more than just souvenirs One day, your wedding photos and video will be the most concrete memories you have of your wedding day. So you don’t want to entrust them to just anyone. Rely on experienced professionals who will ensure you get the images you want. While every bride and groom has their own unique wishes, there are certain classic images that you’ll surely want to have. Some scenes worth immortalizing include the bride getting ready at home for the big day, the bride’s arrival at the church, the wedding procession walking down the aisle, the bride and groom standing at the end of the aisle, exchanging the rings, the kiss, the decorations inside the church, the wedding procession leaving the church taken from both the inside and outside, a group shot of the wedding party outside the church, leaving for the reception, the reception hall (decorations, head table, wedding cake, etc.), the bride and groom’s entrance into the reception hall, the reception line, the wedding party seated at the head table, the raising of the glasses for toasts, the bride and groom drinking from each other’s glasses, the musicians (if there are any), the first dance, the guests dancing, the throwing of the bouquet and the garter belt, and finally, upon leaving the party. It’s best to take any photos that will be taken outside of the church or reception hall about a week before the wedding. This can double as an opportunity to make sure your dress fits properly one last time and do a final practice run of the wedding procession. It also means your guests won’t have to wait for you in the reception hall while you are off having those beautiful photos taken in the park. Plus, you’ll have more time to capture those perfect photos.

Karen Gibson and her Shetland sheepdog Booker (WillowGlyn Bluebook CGN, CD, RAE) will be looking to build on a highly successful 2013 when they begin a new year of competitions at the Alberta Kennel Club Dog Show at Spruce Meadows in Calgary this weekend. “We’re starting earlier so I am hopeful we can get to more than the 19 Rally Obedience Trials we did last year,” said Gibson. “Our goal is achieve the number one ranking Shetland Sheepdog in Alberta and Canada. CanuckDogs.com, an organization which tracks all show and trial results across Canada each year, currently ranks Booker as the country’s number two Shetland Sheepdog in Rally Obedience, the country’s number
three dog in the Herding Group in Rally Obedience, and country’s number 15 dog for all breeds in Rally Obedience. He is also ranked as number two among all Shetland Sheepdogs in Alberta, number two in the Herding Group (Alberta) and number six out of all breeds (also Alberta), all in Rally Obedience. Gibson purchased the four-year-old Booker about a year and a half ago from WillowGlyn Kennels (located north of Gwynne), which breeds and raises CKC registered Shetland Sheepdogs as companions and show dogs. “He is such a special dog in terms of intelligence and a desire to please,” said Gibson. “He is certainly the first dog I have had that has given me perfect scores in competitions.”
Booker is still on a breeding contract with Willow Glyn Kennels. “He’s passing on all his good qualities,” said Gibson. “He has already sired seven champions, which is pretty impressive for a dog of his age.” Gibson has been training and exhibiting dogs since 1956, a year in which she won her first two trophies – one in conformation and one for obedience. When she was living in Calgary she co-trained with Gail S. Duckworth at the Ambassadeur Canine Academy, teaching classes ranging
from puppy and novice to utility and open. “Working with dogs gives me such a sense of accomplishment,” said Gibson. “It is so rewarding to see how they learn and respond to your commands. Although I love training, showing and promoting purebred at different competitions throughout the year the most, I also enjoy training all dogs and developing their potential.” While Booker is the only dog in her life at the present time, Gibson has owned, trained and exhibited Collies, Shetland Sheepdogs, German Shepherds and Keeshonden.
“I have another dog that is coming but I don’t fully own her as of yet,” said Gibson. “She is still in the breeding program.” Gibson has let it be known she is looking for someone who would be interested in working with her as a trainer conducting quality competitive Traditional and Rally Obedience classes. “To bring out the best for each dog in a class situation, I personally believe a co-trainer is mandatory,” she said. “It has always worked very successfully for me. I have someone in mind but final arrangements have still to be completed.”
Organization). As long as the mind stays motivated, the body will stay healthy. Research on anxiety, depression and exercise shows that the psychological and physical benefits of exercise can also help reduce anxiety and improve mood. With suicide a rising issue in Alberta, it is important to treat the issues that are a root cause of such problems, such as depression, anxiety, and numerous other mental disorders. While neither diet nor exercise can be ignored when aiming for a healthy lifestyle, sometimes diet can be a difficult change to accept. Healthy food can be expensive, and on a tight budget it can be difficult. But there are a few different ways to capitalize on limited funds for a healthier diet. There are a few ways to do it, of the best ways to do so is to do a simple Google search on “Eating healthy on a budget” and you can find many different suggestions on how to do so. Some suggestions are to buy whole foods, as they tend to be more nutritious
and cheaper than one from the box. Buying cheap proteins like canned tuna, milk, ground beef, and whole eggs are good, cheap ways to get your protein on a budget. It also gives you total control over your ingredients. Once you manage to get that part straightened out, it’s a matter of falling into a routine. Increased energy levels are the immediate benefits of switching to a healthy diet. It’s not so much a matter of cutting unhealthy foods as it is replacing them with healthy foods. Eating a proper, nutritious diet offers numerous health benefits that keep you mentally and physically healthy. Proper nutrition doesn’t necessary mean eating less, but instead eating a diet balanced in all major nutritional substances. A diet that is low in fats, cholesterol and sodium can lower your risk of heart disease, while a diet rich in calcium keeps your bones and teeth strong and help with the prevention of bone loss associated with osteoporosis. Exercise is just as important
for healthy living. Exercise probably helps ease depression in a number of ways, which may include many different mental health benefits, such as releasing feelgood brain chemicals that may ease depression, on top of reducing immune system chemicals that can worsen depression and increasing body temperature, which may have calming effects. The word “exercise” may create the image of running laps around the gym. But exercise includes a wide range of activities that boost your activity level to help you feel better. Certainly running, lifting weights, playing basketball and other fitness activities that get your heart pumping can help. But so can gardening, washing your car, or strolling around the block and other less intense activities. Anything that gets you off the couch and moving is exercise that can help improve your health. You don’t have to do all your exercise all at one time either. Broaden how you
think of exercise and find ways to fit activity into your routine. One way to help out with this is to add small amounts of physical activity throughout your day. For example, take the stairs instead of the elevator, or park a little farther away from your work to fit in a short walk. When it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, exercise and a healthy diet can never be excluded from consideration. While at times difficult to implement, the benefits of such activities cannot be understated. Everything from preventing heart disease to battling depression are beneficial results of healthy living, and the combination of exercise and diet can lead to longer life and indeed a much happier life. As we ring in the New Year, remember that as we start over, the time is ripe for good changes, whether it be vegetables for lunch, taking the stairs, or doing that lengthy yet beautiful run around Mirror Lake.
Booker was one of the top dogs in Canada in 2013.
Healthy living a goal for which everyone should strive By Justin Brattinga, Camrose Booster
Healthy living is a goal that everyone should strive for. Whether one makes dietary changes or exercising habits (whether it be changing them or starting them), the benefits are marked and lifelong. As one year passes and another begins, many people will be searching for the best ways to improve their lifestyles, and the process for living healthy is not a magical combination of the two, but persistent and dedicated routine. A healthier way of living has too many benefits to count, whether it be exercise, which has benefits ranging from having more energy to preventing depression and other psychological diseases, or eating healthy, which can protect the human body against certain types of diseases. In particular, eating healthy can prevent noncommunicable diseases such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and some types of cancer and skeletal conditions (World Health

Since 1990, the band has performed over 4,000 shows across North America and beyond. With the founding members all hailing from various outport fishing communities, the original goal for the group was to take the music that they all learned and performed home in their kitchens, to the festival stages, pubs, and concert halls of their beloved Newfoundland. With 12 albums to their credit, and having performed for crowds around the world including Queen Elizabeth II, The Irish Descendants, led by founding member Con O’Brien, will take to the Regal Ballroom stage at 8 p.m. for an evening of east coast melodies and toe-tapping tunes. The pre-show buffet dinner runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and is included in the concert ticket price and are available by calling 780-679-2376. Adult learn to curl sessions held in Camrose every week By Murray Green
The Rose City Curling Club is offering a weekly Adult Learn to Curl series every Monday at 7 p.m. until March 16. “In Camrose, we are fortunate to have a great facility and top quality ice,” said club board member Darryl Rott. “The Adult Learn to Curl program is a project developed by the executive with the purpose of providing an opportunity for Camrose and its surrounding communities an intro-
duction to this active and highly social sport.” Curling can be an intimidating sport if you don’t have the skills in place to enjoy it. “We want people to learn proper techniques and we believe it will lead to more participation if they feel comfortable and have some skills. It’s the hope of the Adult Learn to Curl program to help people discover the sport that is not only an easy sport to get into, but relatively economical to play
that is highly contagious and fun,” said Darryl. The program will start with the basics for beginners. “We will cover all of the basics including which foot to put the slider on and how to throw a rock without falling down,” said Darryl. “Each evening will be spent entirely on the ice focussed on all the fun and fellowship that curling has to offer.” Although the curling club has had a significant role in recent years as host to various competitions at the
provincial level, it wants to expand to the national level with the hosting of the Canada Cup of Curling next fall. “With 2014 being the current Olympic Winter Games year, events like the Canada Cup and exposure to all sorts of regular televised events generates interest in the sport,” said Darryl. “We have local leagues and competitions and the Adult Learn to Curl program is a perfect resource for those wishing to get involved in this exciting sport, or at least
learn what curling is all about.” The Adult Learn to Curl program will have a weekly fee, but equipment will be provided to those who need it. “We want to make it easy for everyone to attend. If you miss a week because of commitments, then you can pick it up the next week. We have some brooms and sliders available,” said Darryl. For more information on the program and any curling leagues contact Ron at 780672-4152.

Kodiaks earn valuable points against Brooks and Okotoks By Murray Green
The Camrose Kodiaks collected three out of four possible points on Jan. 3 and 4. Camrose scored just over a minute into the game against the Okotoks Oilers and continued to apply pressure until they skated away with a 5-1 victory on Jan. 3. “Those were two big games for us coming back after Christmas and we able to get three out of four points,” said defenceman Luc Lemire. “We wanted to get the rust out right away and we came out strong against Okotoks. Against Brooks, we could have started a little better, but we finished really well, although it wasn’t quite enough.” Tanner MacMaster opened the 2014 side of the Alberta Junior Hockey League season with an early goal in the EnCana Arena. Spencer Kryczka made it 2-0 on a power play tally near the mid-way mark of the period and Braeden Salverda added another marker a minute later.
Although Okotoks closed the gap early in the second frame, Luc Vandale replied for the Kodiaks. Ryker Leer chipped in with an insurance tally in the third. “It is a good feeling to be able to contribute to the offence. I always like to bring my A game against Okotoks and Brooks. I try to every game, but I give a little extra against those teams,” said Luc, who was named the game star on Saturday night. “The standings are really close right now, so to be able to pick up three points is huge. We can catch some teams if we keep on a run here and we’ll see what happens.” Goalie Devin McDonald didn’t have a busy night, but he was solid with 17 saves on 18 shots. Camrose peppered the Oilers with 33 shots. = “We always have good games against Okotoks and they have a good goalie. We were able to solve him the other night,” added Luc. “Things went well right

from the start. Pucks were going in for us and (Devin) McDonald was playing well for us. It all came together for us.” The Kodiaks played hard against the Brooks Bandits, but settled for one point during a 3-2 overtime loss on Jan. 4. A parade to the penalty box by both teams caused a disruption in the flow of the game. Brooks scored late in the opening frame to take the lead. In the second, the teams exchanged power play tallies with Luc Lemire responding for the Kodiaks. Nelson Gadoury collected a shorthanded goal in the third with help from Luc Vandale. The marker sent
the game into overtime, but the Bandits stole the extra point with Camrose having the edge in shots, 35-18. “We try not to worry about other teams and just worry about ourselves,” Luc said. “We all realize how close the standings are and every game is huge, especially against teams in our division. We just have to make sure we don’t take any nights off and give 100 per cent in every game.” McDonald made 15 of 18 saves, but most of those were on the 10 power play opportunities handed to Brooks. “In the second half the game level goes up and everyone knows every game is important,” continued Luc.
“The speed goes up. Another thing is that we have been getting more fans out lately and that helps us a lot too. It’s great and it gives us extra motivation when there is more life in the building. We control our own fate now.” Camrose travels to Okotoks for a rematch on Jan. 17. The next home game for the Kodiaks is on Jan. 18 when the Drayton Valley Thunder provide the opposition at 7 p.m. in the EnCana Arena. Remember to wear your Calgary Flames jersey as a tribute on Joe Colborne night on Feb. 14. The Camrose Kodiaks will be retiring jersey number 12 that was worn last by Joe.

The annual 4-H Heifer Show at the Canadian Bull Congress in Camrose will provide exposure for club members as well as valuable life skills such as problem-solving, time management and public speaking. The congress will be held at the Camrose Regional Exhibition on Jan. 24 and 25. “It gives the kids an opportunity to bring their projects for display and meet other members from across Alberta,” said Charlie Gould, leader of the Rosalind 4-H Beef Club. “That’s what 4-H is all about, getting out and meeting people.” The participants, ages nine to 20 years old, will each compete with a one-year-old heifer ranging in size from 700 to 900 pounds. The heifers will be judged on their potential of becoming a milk producer and breeding cow as well as the frame of the animal, correctness in structure, legs and feet. Last year over 20 4-H club members took part in the event, and about the same number are expected to compete at this year’s event. The Heifer Show will be a warm up for Club Achievement Days in the spring as well as the Provincial Heifer Show in the summer. Gould said that the Heifer Show is an important way for youth to learn more about cattle. “They’re the future producers of cattle,” Gould said. Sixteen-year-old Bailey Dietrich, a member of the Hastings Coulee 4-H Club, will compete for the fourth time at the event. “It’s a good show and I like the cattle to have some exposure before our achievement day,” Dietrich said, noting that he has been showing cattle since he was four years old. “I’ve learned what you’d expect for a show, getting the cattle ready, the whole atmosphere and what people have to do to get their cattle at the top of their game.” Dietrich added that the show gives good exposure for 4-H members to the community. “There are quite a few people from Camrose who will come out and see what we’re up to and it will show what youth are doing in the beef industry and that we take pride in our cattle,” Dietrich said. Dietrich began working with his 860-pound heifer Firefly in November and said that leading up to the show it is important to ensure the heifer is fed, watered and their hair is ready. “The most important part is halter breaking them. like you, stand well and follow you around the ring,” Dietrich said, adding that this process takes from two to three weeks. Dietrich typically competes at three or four shows in the spring as well as achievement days in June and other shows in the summer. He said that it’s important to remain calm and handle the heifer with care. “They can read you without you even talking. They can tell when you’re sad or when you’re upset with them,” Dietrich said. Bob Prestage, Canadian Bull Congress committee member, said that it’s up to the participants to show off their animal’s best attributes to the three judges. “The judges look at conformation, structure, body shape.
Each judge has his own biases depending on where they live,” Prestage said, noting that in Great Britain and Europe, the temperature is seldom -20 C. “Their environment wouldn’t require the heavy coat of hair that we would have on our animals.” He added that the Heifer Show is an important way for youth to learn more about the industry and about heifers in particular. “They’re an integral part of the beef industry,” Prestage said. The club member with the top heifer will receive a $100 UFA gift certificate, a $300 cheque as well as a jacket and prize banner sponsored by Zoetis-Alverin. The reserve prize is the same, except it includes a $200 cheque.

Rosalind play hits the stage next week By Justin Brattinga Special to The Camrose Booster
The Rosalind Ag Society will be presenting four performances of An Unnecessary Farce at the Rosalind Hall Jan. 23 to 26. The first performances are all dinner theatres, with the Sunday performance involving a little more fun and improvisation. Many people buy two tickets, one for the dinner theatre and one for the final Sunday performance, because it has a more quirky aspect to it. An Unnecessary Farce is an award-winning stage comedy by Paul Slade Smith. The play is a contemporary American farce, in the tradition of other famous stage comedies such as Lend Me a Tenor (but contemporary) and Noises Off. An unofficial motto for the film is “Two cops, three crooks, eight doors. Go.” The play first had its premiere at the BoarsHead Theater in Lansing, Michigan in October, 2006. Since then it has been widely received, and has had over 100 productions to date. South Carolina Centre Stage described it as a play having “a cheap hotel room, two cops, three crooks and eight doors combine with a whole lot of lies and videotape and even a little sex appeal to create this smash hit of non-stop laughter. You’ll be laughing within the next 60 seconds and good luck catching your breath for the next two hours. “This performance has a bit of a twist; it has a slight Scottish motif, with kilts, bagpipes and other Scottish cultural conventions.” The Rosalind Agricultural Society has been putting on play performances for quite a while; they’ve been performing for 22 years. Since the original performance in 1992, they’ve been choosing, rehearsing and performing plays every other year. That performance, Arsenic and Old Lace, was a fundraiser put on at the time by the agricultural society in order for the entire Rosalind high school to go see one of history’s greatest and most famous plays, Phantom of the Opera. These performances have always been directed, and sometimes acted in, by the same person, Ken Valgardson. Ken, now a full time stand-up comic, was a teacher at the time, is an energetic and personable man whose love for drama and the stage shows even over the phone. He believes wholly in these performances, and his dedication and humorous way of talking prove that these have been, and will continue to be, shows to remember. Check out the Rosalind Agricultural Society’s performance of the play. There are two people who’ve been in every single one of its performances, and the performances are always highly reviewed. An Unnecessary Farce is a greatly amusing play, and this run-through promises to be highly enjoyable.

The master bedroom features a walk-in closet and the second good-sized bedroom has a generous closet. Both offer a great view to wake up to. You won't have to wait
in line in the mornings either because both bedrooms come with attached four-piece ensuite bathrooms. A wide staircase leads to the basement that is framed, drywalled and has painted exterior walls leaving very little to complete. The fully fenced backyard has an attractive deck for entertaining, space for children to play and a double detached garage. A large concrete pad big enough to park your truck and under ground wiring is located next to the garage, which leaves options for the handyman. Included with the purchase are the built-dishwasher, built-in microwave, fridge, stove, fireplace and garage door opener with control. This 2403A-Valleyview Drive home is listed to sell at $264,900. On January 18, she will depart for a week in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia, where she will join 50 of the top undergraduate students from around the world to present the results of her research. “No, I have never been to Saudi,” laughs Emily. “In fact, until this past spring’s national chemistry conference in Quebec, I had only ever seen Alberta and B.C.! This is going to be a serious adventure.” The King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is an international, graduate-level research university committed to advancing science and technology through trans-disciplinary research of global significance. She poured an amazing amount of effort into this project, so it is so gratifying to see her get the chance to present her results at an international conference. She will represent Augustana very well.” Emily plans to graduate this spring and apply to the University of Alberta’s Dentistry program or a chemistry-related graduate program.
United Church celebrates its members By Buffy DaSilva
On Nov. 24, 2013, the ConneXions committee of the Camrose United Church presented a Membership Recognition as part of the church’s anniversary celebrations. One individual and two couples were honoured. Casey Reed was born and raised in Camrose and confirmed in our church in 1999. She was an active member of Sunday School. In 2003, she joined the choir, in which she sings soprano. This past year she joined the handbells choir. Casey keeps the children’s ministry supply room organized and the inventory and attendance records up to date. Casey has also participated as a camp counsellor at Hardisty and Bar Harbour. Dave Steblyk and Kay Wallis were married in Camrose United Church in 1977. Their two sons, Tom and Dean, were baptized here as well. Dave and Kay Steblyk both taught Sunday School when their boys were ages two to five. Dave served on both the Christian development and property committees, and also has chaired the property committee. Kay has been involved with Camrose United Church since she was a child.
Alex Oliver Photo Receiving Camrose United Church recognition were from left to right, Dave and Kay Ste-
blyk, Casey Reed and Penny and Jim Sawchyn.
While in junior and senior high school, Kay sang in the church choir and remains today a proud member of the choir, rarely missing a practice or a Sunday service. She is presently chair of the worship committee, a position she has capably filled for many years. Penny and Jim Sawchyn met as teachers on staff at a village school in rural Manitoba. They have been married for 49 years and have been blessed with four children and seven grandchildren. After a
number of years teaching, Jim changed careers. He became an ultrasound technologist and, after moving to Camrose 25 years ago, worked at St. Mary’s Hospital. Penny continued teaching. They joined Camrose United Church eight years ago. Jim is a valued member of the property committee and has learned how to operate the sound system in the sanctuary. For the past two years he has worked on a mobile ultrasound machine, on a team from Doctors Without
Borders in Central America. Penny has served on presbytery, the ConneXions committee, and the pastoral care committee. She helped start the Healing Pathways program and also loves participating in Soul Weavers and playing in the handbells choir. We are most fortunate that these individuals are members of the Camrose United Church and are grateful beneficiaries of all that they do in our congregation and our community.

In loving memory of our dad
Francis Bobik who passed away on January 11, 2013 I’m Just A Farmer, Plain and Simple I’m just a farmer, plain and simple. Not of royal birth, but rather a worker of the earth. I know not of riches, but rather of patches on my britches. I’m just a farmer, plain and simple. I know of drought and rain, of pleasure and pain. I know the good, the bad, the happy and the sad. I’m a man of emotions. A man who loves this land and the beauty of its sand. I’m just a farmer, plain and simple. I know the spring’s fresh flow and autumn’s golden glow. Of a newborn calf ’s hesitation and an eagle’s destination. I’m just a farmer, plain and simple. I know of tall pines and long waiting lines. I know the warmth of campfires and the agony of flat tires. I’m just a farmer, plain and simple. I’m a man who loves his job And the life that I live. I’m just a farmer, plain and simple. And I’m a reaper of harvest. I’m the sower of seeds and I’m the tender of stock. I’m just a farmer, plain and simple. I know of planting corn and baling hay and animals going astray. I live in a complex world, but my faith guides me. I’m a farmer, plain and simple. I am a man who works for God. I cannot succeed without His help. For you see, I’m just a farmer, plain and simple. Thinking of you every day with much love, Your family In loving memory of our dear parents, grandparents and great-grandparents

I often lie awake at night, When the world is fast asleep And take a walk down memory lane, With tears upon my cheeks. Remembering you is easy, I do it every day, But missing you is heartache That never goes away. Dodge Journey Ultimate combination of form and function
Ed Rye By Dan Jensen
The 2014 Dodge Journey at Camrose Chrysler is the ultimate combination of form and function. Journey welcomes your travels with an interior that is designed with an amazing degree of versatility and bursting with technology, available all-wheel drive (AWD) and engine options that are as efficient as they are capable. Make the most of every day
Journey is the only crossover in Canada to offer the choice of either a fourcylinder or V6 engine. The 3.6 litre Pentastar V6 engine with Variable Valve Timing delivers 283 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, as well as some of the most advanced automotive engine technology. The estimated fuel ratings are 7.9 litres per 100 km on the highway. The 2.4 litre four cylinder features a strong balance of fuel economy (up to 7.7 litres per 100 km) and power (173 horsepower). Journey AWD not only grabs your attention, it grabs the road as well. The system makes easy work of snowy, wet or ice-laden road. When the system senses wheel slippage, it immediately responds with a transfer of power to the rear wheels for a very noticeable uptick in driving performance.
Flexibility
When it comes to storage, Journey's interior takes a back seat to no one. Every element of the interior was mapped and calculated to achieve optimal space for up to seven passengers and plenty of cargo room. Two second-row in-floor storage bins with removable, washable liners, each hold up to a dozen 385 ml cans plus ice. Latching lids also make these binds the perfect place for stowing valuable travel items or sports gear security out of sight. The available Flip 'n Stow fold-flat frontpassenger seat cushion flips forward to reveal a bin ideal for concealing a purse or personal items. With all the passenger seats folded, there's as much as 1,908 litres of cargo space. The map pockets, centre console and glove box provide
even more room to store the things you just can't leave home without. Ride comfort
Journey makes every ride more comfortable with plenty of lounge room, amazing interior flexibility and stadium seating. Need room for more than five passengers? Journey's got you covered with the available Flexible Seating Group that expands seating to seven. The standard 60/40 splitfolding and reclining secondrow seating offers spacious comfort, while its flexibility easily accommodates large loads. Your passengers will have easy access to the available 50/50 split-folding thirdrow seats thanks to rear doors that open 90 degrees and the Tilt 'n Slide secondrow seats. The premium six-speaker Alpine sound system pro-
vides optimal audio enjoyment, while the available 115-volt two-prong power outlet allows passengers to plug in portable game systems or audio devices. The available awardwinning Uconnect system with 8.4-inch touch screen (the largest in its class) features easy-to-navigate access icons for radio, as well as available features like SirriusXM Satellite Radio navigation and hands-free communication. Bring along your own tunes via remote SD card slot, remote USB port with mobile device control or Bluetooth streaming. The USB port can also charge your compatible devices. Safety
Journey offers over 50 safety and security features. Electronic Stability Control helps the driver maintain vehicle directional stability and limits oversteer or understeer. ESC includes All-Speed Traction Control, Brake Assist, Electronic Roll Mitigation, and Trailer Sway Control. The standard four-wheel disc antilock brakes sense and prevent wheel lockup, offering improved steering control under extreme braking and/or slippery conditions. The available Parkview rear back-up camera displays an accurate visual reference
of what is behind you when you are in reverse. The standard Enhanced Accident Response System makes it easier for emergency personnel to see and reach occupants in the event of an accident by turning on interior lighting, flashing hazard lamps and unlocking doors after air bag deployment. It also shuts off the flow of fuel to the engine. Journey's air bags offer protection for all rows of seating. Air bags include multistage driver and frontpassenger, supplemental side-curtain for all rows, a driver's inflatable kneeblocker, and supplemental front-seat side-mounted. A standard warning system in the instrument cluster alerts the driver to tires with either too high or too low pressure with displays for each individual tire pressure. Blacktop Group
Journey's Blacktop Group provides custom flair for a more distinctive look, straight from the factory. Exterior highlights includes Gross Black 19-inch aluminum wheels, front grille, lower front fascia accents and exterior mirrors, as well as Black headlamp accents. You can see the 2014 Dodge Journey at Camrose Chrysler on Highway 13 east, Camrose. Phone 780672-2476 and ask for one of the friendly sales professionals.

Ski Club funding request Continued from page 8
Camrose Ski Club recently completed a ski trail enhancement project that included the widening of trails, the construction of three new bridges, new fences and range work at the biathlon facility, the creation of a new mountain bike trail, and the development of a new ski play park. Recent equipment purchases include two new snow machines, a groomer and a trailer that permits the transportation of grooming equipment. A future dream is the expansion of the current Stoney Creek Centre. “We have simply outgrown this space,” said Asfeldt. “On some evenings we have over 90 kids in programs and when joined by parents and coaches, we simply do not fit into the facility any longer.” Asfeldt said the Camrose Ski Club would be happy to engage in discussions with Camrose City council on what to do with the ski jump, which it feels is no longer usable. Mayor Mayer said one possibility is to replace the jump with a cairn which would acknowledge some of the club’s early members when ski jumping was popular. “If we provide an acknowledgement for those early years that may be the saving grace,” said Mayer.
WAXING FOR SPEED
Murray Green, Camrose Booster Camrose Ski Club member Emily Eggink received some help waxing her skis from Tim Wintoniw, coach of the Alberta Winter Games Zone 4 team prior to the Great Monkey Race at the Stoney Creek Centre on Dec. 14. Emily placed second in the squirrel monkey division.

Police stopped and checked a vehicle for an equipment violation and determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The 19-year-old man provided a sample into the Roadside Screening Device and as a result, was issued a 30 day provincial GDL license suspension and had his vehicle seized for seven days. January 3
Police are investigating after a business in the Duggan Mall advised that a male had stolen some jewelry and fled the store. The male had dropped some of the store property while fleeing and left in a white, four-door, mid-nineties Toyota Camry. The male is described as Caucasian, over 6’0”, wearing blue jeans and a black ski-doo jacket with a white stripe. If you have any information please contact police. On January 2 police received a report that a vehicle had been stolen from a residence in Camrose. As a result of the investigation into this matter, the stolen vehicle was recovered in Wetaskiwin and a 23-year-old male was taken into custody. The male was consequently charged with the theft of the vehicle, as well as several other related charges.

Police responded to a residence after a complaint from an occupant that a physical altercation had just taken place inside. Both involved parties were uncooperative with the investigation but the 53-year-old Edmonton woman who was determined to be the aggressor agreed to leave the residence. A short time later police responded to the same residence after a report that this same female was back and causing a disturbance outside. She was located and subsequently arrested to prevent the further breach of peace. Police responded to a residence upon request to check on the welfare of an occupant. While at the residence, a 46-year-old Camrose man was determined to be breaching court ordered conditions and was subsequently arrested.

Helpful Tips for Writing Classified Ads Which Get Results! Be Thorough
Sure you want your ad to stand out from the rest, but don’t skimp on the sort of information that sells. The item’s condition, size, age, brand name, and color are some of the basics readers want to know. Without them, your ad may be overlooked.
Steer Clear of Abbreviations
Okay, so you want to include all the important basics. Don’t use strange abbreviations because our ads are designed to spell all the important details. Besides, you are not paying by the line, but by the word, so there is really no need to abbreviate.
Be Honest
Exaggerating your item’s finer points may bring in a lot of responses, but a buyer who’s misled won’t appreciate it and will take his business somewhere else.
State Your Price
The cost of an item is one of the most important concerns of want ad readers. Ads showing prices are ones which get results. Giving a price also serves to “weed out” those buyers not in your price range.
Be Accessible
Including a telephone number or address puts you in touch with potential buyers. Be sure to state the hours you can be reached: a caller who can’t get through the first time often won’t call again.
Don’t hesitate to call us with any questions or problems you may have regarding advertising. Our professionally trained sales staff know the ropes, and would be happy to pass their know-how on to you. That’s why we’re here, to help you get the results you deserve.

response was to speed up – and venture to the middle of the road without assessing for hazards or why a person might be trying to obtain their attention. For those people who safely pulled to the side – assessed the situation and
successfully passed when I waived them by, I sincerely thank you. The deer moved to the side of the road and sought shelter in the nearby bushes. There were two other guys who stayed to help me – the non emergency police num-
