Filling those famous red and green shoeboxes, which may become the first gift ever received by a child in an impoverished country, are little Maddison Caudron, Lead Pastor Ed Lehman and Edna Klaus.
Operation Christmas Child is a hands-on way for Canadians to bless struggling children in the developing world by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies and other items that will be useful or will delight a boy or girl who is under fourteen years of age. Century Meadows Baptist Church is once again one of 400 collections centres in Canada aiming to gather hundreds of thousands of gifts. They will then be distributed in advance of Christmas Day by the international relief agency Samaritan’s Purse. Pick up your shoebox and fill it with crafts and activities, toys, personal care items, clothing, accessories and a “wow” item that will be remembered for life by someone less fortunate. Empty boxes can be picked up, filled and then dropped off again at a wide variety of local businesses.
Shoebox Collection Week is November 12 to 18, 2018

Ursa Major Gold, Silver & Coin
Direct to Smelter – Precious Metals Recycling Roadshow returns to Camrose Ursa Major Gold, Silver & Coin will be back in Camrose on Oct. 31st and Nov. 1st. You can bring your gold, silver, coins and Canadian paper money to the Camrose Elks Lodge between 10am and 5pm on Wednesday and between 10am and 4pm on Thursday. No appointment is required. Barry Dick is a precious metals buyer and President of Ursa Major Gold, Silver & Coin. “Ursa Major has the unique advantage of dealing direct with a smelter,” said Dick. “That allows us to cut out one or even two middlemen. Ursa Major purchases gold and silver from other gold buyers, pawn shops, dentists, jewellers and jewellery makers as well as the general
public.” In terms of the US dollar, gold and silver prices appear low but the weak Canadian dollar means prices are strong. Ursa Major analyzes your gold, silver, coins and paper money while you watch, with the process explained to you in detail. Coins with numismatic value are graded and set aside from those with a ‘melt’ value. Silver items such as jewellery and flatware are analyzed for hallmark identification. Items thought to contain gold will also be analyzed for hallmarks, and then confirmed using precise testing that is done while you watch. Then a cash offer is made and you decide to sell or not. “If you decide to sell after hearing the quote, great, but it is also about information” says Dick. “A lot of times people just need to know a ballpark of what things are worth; we don’t pressure anyone into selling”. Dick took out his first gold claim when he turned 16 in the 1970s and has been involved with precious metals ever since. An ardent gold panner, he was a regular at the world championship gold panning competition with a personal best of 3rd place in 1984.
“Nearly half of the world’s annual gold harvest comes from recycled gold. Energy costs are about $500 to mine a new ounce of gold where recycled gold is about $10 per ounce. That prevents a lot of diesel from being burned.” Gold and silver purchased at the show and later melted goes back into the market without incurring that environmental cost. Out of fashion jewellery, single earrings, broken chains, unloved jewellery, charm bracelets, dental gold, nuggets and fine gold are all accepted. “We can assess any coin ever made for collector or precious metal value, including world coins and ancient coins.” People are encouraged to bring in any and all coins for assessment. Ursa Major also assesses and purchases Canadian and Dominion of Canada Paper Money. They have extensive experience working with estates, executors, widows and widowers in a respectful and caring manner. No appointment necessary.

Reflecting on bad behaviour—mine
It’s not easy, being the kind of person you aspire to be–courteous, considerate, respectful regardless of age, position, blah blah blah…I’m sitting here reflecting on a short phone call I had a few minutes ago. I’m reflecting on my bad behaviour. I don’t answer phone calls from area codes I don’t recognize. In this case, the phone number started with 780 so I knew it was from Alberta somewhere north of Red Deer. I answered. “Is this Bonnie Hutchinson?” a youngsounding woman’s voice asked. “Yes,” I said. The young woman told me her name, the organization she works for, and her job title. Ah. The job title had several words that were code for “fundraiser.” “How are you this evening?” she asked in a chirpy voice. “Not interested in making a donation,” I said, and clicked off. And instantly felt terrible. ***
There is a back story. Once upon a time, I used to support her organization. Over the years, I decided I would no longer support the organization because of what I observed of its business practices and its relationship with our local community. I happened to know the organization took months to pay its local vendors and contractors. The last straw for me was when, three months after I’d mailed a donation cheque, the organization still hadn’t deposited it. A local person verified that the cheque was received, but local people had no control over what happened after that. Two months after the organization deposited my cheque (five months after I’d mailed it), they still hadn’t sent a receipt and I wasn’t able to claim the donation on that year’s tax return. I decided the organization must not need money if they could be that cavalier. Worse, if they were that sloppy and inconsiderate, I lost all faith that the money would be put to good use. They were crossed off my list of organizations I’m willing to support. The unfortunate young woman on the phone would not know any of that, of course. She was merely doing her job. She did not deserve my rudeness.

The Camrose Booster thanks you for your interest in the letters page and encourages your comments. Dumpster diving
It has been brought to my attention about people here in this city that dumpster dive for a hobby. I do often wonder if this sort of activity is even legal? There has been several sightings of a gentleman who likes to rip open private garbages in private dumpsters looking for items of value. Identity theft is on the
rise here in Canada. What would stop this gentleman from stealing private security numbers in order to commit fraud against these people? I do urge every person here in Camrose to keep an eye on who is making themselves at home in their dumpster. When you put garbage into your dumpster,
make sure there is nothing of value which a thief can steal. That is one way someone can find out all about you. It is through the data which you have left in your garbage. This is just something for you to think about. Lorne W.P. Vanderwoude, Camrose
Smook runs for Alberta Party By Murray Green
Beaver County councillor and real estate broker Kevin Smook is seeking the nomination for the Alberta Party’s new Camrose riding. “Camrose and our surrounding communities have a bright future and I want to represent the new Camrose riding at the provincial level. I believe we need a strong, positive, respectful voice to stand up for the challenges we face in rural Alberta,” said Smook. “Sheila and I have had two of our children graduate from the University of Alberta Augustana Campus and we know what an important role the university plays in our region.”
Kevin Smook
Smook was first elected to Beaver County council in 2013 and served as the reeve from 2014-17. He was re-elected to council last
year. Smook is the chair of the Beaver Emergency Services Commission and the Tofield and Area Health Services Foundation and is a member of the Battle River Alliance for Economic Development. He obtained his real estate license in 1994 and opened his own brokerage (Home-Time Realty) in 1999. Smook is also a member of the Arbitration and Professional Standards Committee with the Realtors Association of Edmonton. Smook has also been involved with the Camrose Kodiaks since 2009 as the back up play by play voice for its radio broadcasts.

A friend advises young women who are dating young men, “Watch how they treat people with less power than themselves–say, the serving staff in a restaurant. If they’re rude or inconsiderate or dismissive, run, don’t walk, in the other direction. They’ll eventually treat you that way too.” Excellent advice. It came back to haunt me as I thought about how I’d treated the young woman on the phone. I have every right to choose who I’m willing to support and who not. But I didn’t have the right to be rude to that young woman. There would have been a courteous and respectful way to decline to donate; a way that did not diminish her. But on the phone–it was so easy just to click off. On the phone, the other person is invisible so not really “real”. More to the point, so am I invisible, as in, “I won’t be visible being rude.” I wondered, would I have been as rude if she’d been in my presence? Or if she’d been someone I perceived as having equal power? Or if I’d been with someone whose opinion of me mattered to me? Uncomfortable reflections. ***
Recently I read, “What you refer to as evil comes in many forms. When it appears, it does not reveal itself as a monster. It is seldom even recognized as evil. Evil is surreptitious and small, or at least initially it appears small.” We gear up for the big things. The little things can catch us. If I know I’m going to be with someone I’m likely to judge, I do everything in my power to stay in “curious and non-judging” mode. I’m vigilant about being courteous and respectful. But a fundraiser on the phone? Not so much. As someone has said, “The devil is in the details.” ***
I’d love to hear from you! If you have comments about this column or suggestions for future topics, send a note to Bonnie@BonnieHutchinson.com. I’ll happily reply within one business day.
NO STRESS
Submitted Kailey, front left, and Kyler Sharkey are eight-year-old twins who raised $1,000 towards Covenant Health St. Mary’s Hospital Camrose for the chemo clinic. They created homemade stress balls and a large mess, but they were very excited to come up with a plan using balloons, straws, pop bottles and flour to create stress balls. They then sold them for $5 a piece at local Camrose businesses. There were 73 created in total to raise $365. When the community heard they were donating the money to the local chemo clinic, a lot of donations were made toward their cause. On Oct. 5, they joined their grandma Lorrie Sharkey and presented the cheque to unit manager Joann Reinhart, back left, and site administrator Cherylyn Antymniuk. They are hoping maybe the money could go towards a fountain or maybe some soothing music as patients receive their treatments. Their grandma is very proud of the work they have done towards the cause.

Three Camrose community leaders received the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers in recognition of their exceptional volunteer contributions in a wide range of fields. The award tributes the passion, dedication and commitment of volunteers, and recognizes their achievements in the community. The medals were presented at an Edmonton ceremony co-hosted by Lieutenant Governor Lois Mitchell and Legislative Assembly of Alberta Speaker Robert Wanner. The medal recipients are from Calgary, Camrose, Cochrane, DeBolt, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Innisfail, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Sherwood Park, Stony Plain and Whitecourt. “These hard-working citizens are focused on building strong, caring and vibrant communities that allow all members to thrive. One of my favourite parts of the role of lieutenant governor is the opportunity to meet with outstanding Albertans and recognize individuals who embody the best of what it means to be Canadian,” said Mitchell, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta. “It is an honour to recognize the commitment and dedication of these deserving community leaders from across the province. These volunteers enrich the lives of Albertans and make a positive impact in our communities,” added Wanner, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. The Sovereign’s Medal
for Volunteers was first presented in Ottawa in April 2016. An official honour created by the Crown and part of the Canadian Honours System, the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers incorporates and replaces the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award and builds on that award’s legacy and spirit by honouring volunteerism in Canada. Lieutenant Governor Mitchell presented the medals at the Edmonton ceremony on behalf of the Governor General of Canada. Carol Wideman of Camrose stepped in to assist at a Special Olympics ball tournament more than 10 years ago. Since then, she has coached and served as chair of the organization’s Camrose affiliate, implementing several new initiatives and sports programs to benefit young athletes. Agnes Minnes of Camrose has been a dedicated member of the Camrose branch of the Royal Canadian Legion for more than 40 years. Her selfless devotion and compassion can be seen in her active participation on numerous committees, her fundraising efforts and her visits with sick people convalescing at home or in hospital. Dean Edwards of Camrose, through the growing sport of pickleball, promotes and encourages active citizenship, wellness and fitness among people of all ages. As president of the Camrose Pickleball Club for the past five years, he has dedicated his time to organizing the many facets of the club’s activities.

www.solecityshoes.com Submitted Camrose Special Olympics softball team Camrose Cardinals win Team of the Year Award. By Murray Green
Submitted Special Olympics Camrose coach Jim Ofrim, right centre, receives Male Coach of the Year award. Camrose Special Olympic athlete Jon Gurr, left centre, helps present the award.
Special Olympics Camrose won three major awards at the annual general meeting in Calgary on Oct. 13. Camrose earned the highly coveted Murray Koch Youth Development Award for the Active Start and FUNdamentals program. Camrose has offered the Active Start program for three years with coordinators who have gone above and beyond to ensure the success of the early age program. The coaches are committed to helping the athletes develop their physical skills quickly and allow them to transition to regular Special Olympics programs. Camrose has always strived to improve young athletes, resulting in it being a staple of the Active Start programs across the province.
Male Coach of the Year award went to Jim Ofrim, who coaches and coordinates bocce, cross-country skiing, golf, soccer and softball programs. Jim is one of the most engaged coaches and during his six years with Camrose, has coached virtually every sport at one time or another. As the program coordinator, he plans events, recruits new volunteers and ensures there is improvements in both the athletes and the programs. What separates Jim from the rest is his commitment to get to know each athlete and his willingness to support them in sport and personal endeavors. Team of the Year award went to the Camrose Cardinals softball team. Coached by Roland Richard, the team’s members
(Jon Gurr, Sawyer Kendall, Noah Lehman, Chris Sutter, Chad Rombough, Kyle Atkinson, Mitchell Banks, Corey Boettger, George Hagel, Chris Hoecherl, Brian Keller, Justin Sitler, Preston Wideman, Bryce Ames and Dustin Lindberg) are true ambassadors for their community on and off the field. Each player is proud to be a Cardinal and they are dedicated to upholding their sportsmanship reputation. They are often found cheering on other teams and are quick to shake hands of opponents. When teammates make mistakes, they rally around that player to build them up and let them know they have his back. This team won a gold medal at the 2017 Summer Games in Medicine Hat.

Beware and be safe on All Hallows’ Eve By Lori Larsen
Ghosts and goblins, witches and warlocks, super heros, princesses and everything in between will be roaming the streets on Oct. 31 in search of a treat for a trick. Residents are reminded of a few tips to keep all those little trick-or-treaters safe and protect your property at the same time. Safe tricksters
Plan ahead by having a route picked out that is familiar to your children and well lit. Ensure your trick-ortreaters are wearing safe and comfortable clothing. Costumes should not cover the eyes or face if at all possible and should be short enough to avoid tripping hazards. A long night of running from house to house can mean sore feet, so ensure proper footwear is worn. “Be sure to light them up by attaching reflective strips onto costumes, using non-toxic glow-in-the-dark paint on costumes or have trick-or-treaters wear glowin-the-dark bracelets or necklaces,” advised Camrose Police Service crime p r e ve nt io n / c o m mu n it y relations Constable Kelly

Bauer. “Anyone accompanying trick-or-treaters should also be carrying a working flashlight.” Have a few bottles of water, because walking in heavy costumes can be warm and easily dehydrate trick-or-treaters. Feed the monsters a nutritious meal before they leave for trick-or-treating. This way they may be less tempted to fill up on treats. “Never allow children to consume treats before they are checked by a parent or guardian,” said Bauer. “Treats that are not sealed or contain holes in the packaging or are home-
made by someone you are not familiar with, should not be consumed.” To keep trick or treaters safe when coming to your home, remove all tripping hazards on your lawn and the path to your door, light up your front door and the path to it and keep your pets safely away from trick or treaters. Your pet could scare some children and some children could scare your pet. Avoid real candles at all costs. Battery operated candles are reasonably inexpensive and will save you the costs of an accidental fire.
Slow down
All motorists are reminded to slow down, turn on vehicle lights (even before dark), abide by all traffic laws and be extra vigilant to all pedestrian traffic. “We advise motorists to keep a close eye out both mid block and at crosswalks,” said Bauer. by locking all vehicles, sheds, garages and outbuildings. If you have a garage park your vehicle(s) inside; if you do not have a garage, park them as close to your home as possible and under street lights. Keep your treats close at hand near the front door. Leaving a door open while you go to retrieve treats, could invite trouble. Turn on your outside lights and a few lights inside the home as well. If you do not participate in Halloween celebrations, turn off your front outdoor lights to discourage trickor-treaters from coming to your door. When you are out of treats or ready to shut down for the evening, bring any loose decorations (carved pumpkins) inside, and turn off your decorative lighting. If you will be away from your residence on Halloween, ask a neighbour to hand out treats on your behalf and keep a watchful eye on your property, or use a home surveillance system. Make this Halloween a safe and happy experience for all the trick-or-treaters. “Boo”tter safe than sorry.

A principal agent of serving in an elected capacity is that of hearing and understanding. Along with Shelley, an amazing friend and volunteer, I embarked on a journey across our constituency over the month of September to talk to people and gain valuable perspective on their thoughts and concerns. Our travels included Pelican Point, Meeting Creek, Edberg, Bashaw, Duhamel, New Norway, Bawlf, Daysland, Rosalind, Heisler, Forestburg, Galahad, Alliance, Hardisty, Lougheed, Sedgewick, Killam, Tofield, Viking and Camrose and many farmyards in between. We used Shelley’s RV as transportation, accommodation, mobile meeting space and as a travelling billboard. People in these communities overwhelmingly thanked us for making the effort to come out and speak to them. Expanding the pipes By Lori Larsen
The Rotary Skateboard Park expansion was officially opened on Oct. 17 to the delight of some board and bike sport enthusiasts. “This project came about a few years ago when a small group of skatepark users approached me to request that we expand the skatepark,” explained City of Camrose community services general manager Ryan Poole. The original skatepark was designed pretty tight with a lot of features that are really close together, which posed a couple issues for users. “When it’s busy, which is often, there is not enough room for everyone to use the park at the same time and the original design was intended more for competition-style trick riding, not street scape type riding,” said Poole.
Lori Larsen, Camrose Booster A trick rider enjoys the new expansion at the skate park.
In an effort to determine whether or not expanding the park would benefit users, the community services department conducted an informal survey that concluded an expansion would not only be useful, but appreciated. “The community services department administration proposed the project to City council during the budget process (for 201719) suggesting funding be used that had already been allocated for future skatepark upgrades.” After council’s approval and consultation with a few frequent users of the skatepark, and with the use of City in-house services, a design for the expansion was finalized. “We were able to come up with a design that mimicked more of a street scape layout. Some of the features were even modeled after the front of City Hall.” The City contracted local company Jo’s Concrete Services to complete the job. “They did a wonderful job, compared to having hired a specific skatepark design crew. The users and staff agree that the finished product is very good.” As a trick rider balances on the handlebars of his bike mid-air, a skateboarder whizzes by grinding on one of the park’s rails. It is apparent the expansion is another way the City is meeting the wants and needs of residents.

Singer still supporting farmers By Murray Green
Good singers and songwriters stand the test of time. Murray McLauchlan is still doing what he loves best into his 70s because he is still having fun. “I’ve been to Camrose, I just don’t remember when,” said Murray, prior to his three week tour of western Canada. “I’m 70 years old now, so I’m not sure of anything anymore,” he laughed. What we know is that he will be on stage at the Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. “I absolutely love playing music. I can paint and write, but I like to get out in front of people in order to find out what works or not. The litmus test is playing in front of an audience. If people are running and screaming out of the theatre, or throw stuff at you, you know you’re not getting it right. I like to think of a concert tour as a kind of roving gallery to test your art and your ideas. I try to do my very best to make it worthwhile for folks to be there and to perhaps look at things in a new way when they leave.” His music resonates with everyday people because he writes about fellow Canadians. “I’m always on a learning curve. The last few years I’ve been learning on different guitars and it is like learning a whole new language, so I can play different types of music that I have never played. I had to learn them for the Love Can’t Tell Time album.” Murray is touring the Prairies to re-connect with his fans in Western Canada. He is one of Canada’s most highly regarded singer/songwriters over a 45-year career. Murray has released 19 albums and has been awarded 11 Juno awards. His songs “Farmer’s Song,” “Down by the Henry Moore,” “Whispering Rain” and “Sweeping the Spotlight Away” are considered Canadian standards. “I love all kinds of music as long as it is good. Everything from Ricky Nelson to Aretha Franklin. I’m always discovering people I didn’t know I liked. I can sit and listen to John Mayer for hours.” Murray is also a painter, an author, an actor, a radio host; he’s been bestowed an honourary doctor of laws and appointed to The Order of Canada. That’s quite a ride. Until recently, Murray’s touring had been restricted to Lunch At Allen’s, whose members also include Ian Thomas, Marc Jordan and Cindy Church. But with the release earlier this year of his critically acclaimed Love Can’t Tell Time, he’s back on the road treating concert goers to a seamless blend of old and new. “I don’t get tired of play-

ing the ‘Farmers’ Song.’ It really connects with people and is multi-generational. I’ve had old men with hard hands shake my hand for writing it and their grandchildren do too. It is a song that says something important to me, which is thank you,” explained Murray. “I don’t think there is enough of that going around – people appreciated for what they do.” He is planning to play songs that people expect to hear in the first set and move towards songs from his latest album. “ ‘Whispering Rain’ is the first attempt I ever made at impressionistic poetry. It is a song about the uncertainty of life. It’s about mystery, uncertainty and not being about to see what is behind the veil of the future.” Murray will open the second half of the show with a special song. “It is special for me (the title track of the new album) and I wrote it with a friend of mine who passed
away recently. She was one of the first woman sports writers to cover MLB at the time, Alyson Gordon. She found love later in life and this song is about love that doesn’t just happen to 18-year-olds. It can happen anytime in your life,” said Murray. He will be performing with Victor Bateman, who plays upright bass. “I travel fairly minimally so I can be heard as a musician, but with enough accompaniment to make the music big enough to be satisfying.” He likes to share stories about the songs and add antidotes. “It is important to share stories and memories along the way.” He belongs to Route 17 (Voices That Care), an organization in Toronto that believes music can be used in therapy for dementia and Alzheimers’ patients. Jann Arden is going to be the headliner next April.

Vollrath brings award winning fiddle music to Bailey By Murray Green
Calvin Vollrath was named the Grand North American Fiddle Champion on two occasions. He will be performing at the Bailey Theatre on Thursday, Nov. 1 beginning at 8 p.m. The Calvin Vollrath Show mixes great fiddle tunes with piano and dancing favourites. “I grew up with the music of Don Messer’s Jubilee and they called that old-time music. From there, I branched out into country music and was in many bands. I played some swing music and ethnic Ukrainian,” said Calvin. His love for music began at an early age. At eight he received his first fiddle and
mimicked his father, a great fiddler in his own right. “I play many styles, so you can hear everything from Messer to Elvis Presley. I started out being in bands, but since 1990 I have had my own band and show. I’ve composed lots of music, so I get to share them, as well as the old favourites.” Calvin has composed 700 originals tunes; 68 albums and written several music books. Vollrath was commissioned to compose fiddle tunes for the Vancouver Winter Olympics. “The Vancouver Olympics asked me to compose five fiddle tunes that reflected the cultures and fiddle styles of people across Canada. They were showcased
in the opening ceremonies, so that was a great honour for me,” revealed Calvin. “We are playing in the Maritimes for three weeks and every show is sold out. People love old-time fiddle music and we play lots of old songs as well as my new ones. People like my songs and I get requests for Calvin tunes, not just old ones. Its happy music, so it isn’t just for older people, I have songs for everyone in the family. It is a good family show.” Calvin will be bringing two special guests to the Bailey Theatre, Jeremy Rusu (Calvin calls him a musical genius because he can play any instrument) playing the piano, guitar and accordion and Rhea Labrie (Calvin’s
Calvin Vollrath
wife)a French Canadian step-dancer, who is a great entertainer as well. “When I play fiddle and she is dancing, people go crazy. The fiddle was made for dancing and she shows it off.” Calvin grew up in
Alberta and is ready to tour his home province. “I’m excited to play in Camrose. I played at the Bailey three or four years ago with Russell DeCarle. It is just beautiful and perfect for old-time music,” said Calvin. His nephew Tyler Vollrath lived in Bawlf for a few years, but now has moved to New Brunswick (where his wife is from) and is part of the Brett Kissel band. Kissel played the same venue in Cape Breton the day before Calvin was there. Ironically, Tyler will be playing in Sedgewick not long after Calvin is in Camrose. Continued on page 16

34th Annual Chamber Business Awards By Lori Larsen
Celebrating the achievements and contributions of Camrose and area small businesses was done in style at the 34th annual Chamber Business Awards Gala held on Oct. 18 at the Camrose Resort Casino. Honourees, dignitaries and a representation of business owners, staff, family and friends, gathered together to support the continued success and growth of small business in Camrose and area. Master of Ceremony for the evening, Shauna Feth (past president of Camrose and District Chamber of Commerce and Alberta Chamber of Commerce chair) along with Trevor Vinet (Camrose and District Chamber of Commerce first vice-president) welcomed everyone and congratulated all nominees. “We are celebrating the people, businesses, organizations that make our community and our area the vibrant, strong, prosperous community that it is,” said Vinet. Mayor Norm Mayer brought congratulations on behalf of the City of Camrose and City council. “Small business is what makes the economy of, not only Camrose, but Canada. Your efforts and input into the community is what makes Camrose a community that we can all be proud of.” Camrose County councillor Doug Lyseng brought greetings and congratulations on behalf of Camrose County Reeve Don Gregorwich and all council members. “Being a small-business man myself I have always admired the work the Chamber does to promote private enterprize here and across Canada. Recognizing businesses in and around Camrose is a great way to offer positive reinforcement to business owners, who, in my opinion, often run into obstacles which may leave them wondering why they are doing what they are doing. So it offers a little bit of incentive to keep going.”

Lovely ready to be your UCP rep By Murray Green
Jackie Lovely is one of five candidates running for the United Conservative Camrose Constituency nomination. She now lives in Camrose, but she previously was the Wildrose Party candidate in Edmonton-Ellerslie in the 2012 and 2015 elections. She is a former Wildrose Caucus staffer. “I was asked to run in Camrose in the last election, but my daughter was finishing high school in Edmonton at that time and I felt that she needed to be my priority,” said Lovely. “I didn’t win, but we earned the highest number of Wildrose votes in Edmonton in the last election.” She opened the Edmonton-Ellerslie Wildrose Constituency Association serving as president for several terms, building the board, gathering donations and hosting events for the leader. In Camrose, Jackie served as the secretary of the UCP board. “After an NDP government, Brad Wall in Saskatchewan said the greatest export for that province was young people. That’s why I had to move to Alberta. I don’t want that to happen in Alberta. We (bus driver Shelly and herself) have toured all of the little towns east of Camrose, door knocking, and the people all have financial concerns. Seniors have to choose between medication and food. People want to move away from Alberta, but they can’t sell their house because no one wants to buy it. The carbon tax has just made things very difficult,” said Lovely. Jackie was born in Saskatchewan where she grew up on the farm helping with the family business. She attended the University of
POLITICAL CHAT
Murray Green, Camrose Booster United Conservative Party potential candidate Jackie Lovely, left, discusses provincial concerns with Daysland area residents Marilyn and Bob Matthiessen in Camrose during her stop in Camrose on Sept. 24.
Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. After completing the hotel and restaurant administration program, she worked as a director of sales and regional director of sales for several hotel chains in Alberta. “With my job, I have the luxury of travelling all over Alberta. I have been going through Camrose for many years and I have fallen in love with this place. It’s the people who are the most fabulous. I feel comfortable here with so many great friendships and I feel at home here,” she said about moving here. Lovely’s stance is clear. “I want to repeal the carbon tax, I want to balance the budget and I want to defend parental choice in education. We owe it to our future generations to be responsible stewards of our provinces finances.” Lovely is a returning provincial election nominee and has listened to many opinions. “I’ve door knocked in communities before, but this carbon tax has really put the pressure on families.
We have to pay for more with the same amount and get by with less. That is very difficult right now. “We need to balance the budget. Companies have left Alberta at an alarming rate because taxes are less in other places. We need to create an environment that is open for business. We need jobs, not only in the cities, but in the rural areas as well. A higher minimum wage has put people in a higher tax bracket. Others have cut hours, so the employees are no further ahead. It hasn’t been a good solution. People don’t have as much of a disposable income, so they have cut back and don’t eat out as much. It is a trickle down effect.” You can purchase memberships by calling Jackie at 780-782-4047 or email info@ jackielovely.ca. Membership sales closing date for the privilege of voting is Nov. 1. A new, potentially dangerous era is dawning By Kevin Sorenson, MP, Battle River-Crowfoot
On Oct. 17, marijuana became legal in Canada and I, for one, was not celebrating this new era. I have serious concerns about the potential consequences of the Liberal government’s failed approach to this legalization including; the serious health repercussions, safety on our roads and the unruly and confusing patchwork of regulations across the country. In a rush to meet his self-imposed political deadline, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau failed to adequately address the many concerns of municipalities, law enforcement, employers, scientists and doctors about the use and abuse of legalized cannabis. Just days before legalization came into force, the Trudeau government admitted there is no conclusive way to determine if someone is driving high. This has left our law enforcement officials in limbo, with several police forces across the country refusing to use governmentapproved testers. While on the eve of legalization the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) said they are prepared to deal with drug impaired driving. During testimony before the Standing Committee on Health, D/Chief Mike Serr, of the CACP Drug Advisory Committee said, “The lesson we learned from Colorado and Washington State was that you need to start (public education) now. We needed to start a year ago, quite frankly. There are some misconceptions out there about youth and drug-impaired driving and the dangers.” An editorial from a recent Canadian Medical Association Journal was cited in the National Post on Oct. 17, in which there was the warning “that Canada was launching a national, uncontrolled experiment in which the profits of cannabis producers and tax revenues are squarely pitched against the health of Canadians.” The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) strongly cautioned that the legal sale of cannabis could result in a problem for one in three adults and an addiction for one in 10, with higher risks for youth. During their testimony before the Standing Committee on Health on Sept. 11, the CMA said “we still want to set the age at 21, and maybe 25, because the damage done to the brain will be permanent.” Also on the day of “free the weed,” the National Post, after doing their “homework” listed what they believe will be just some of the “unexpected consequences of pot legalization” including “in many places, it’s actually going to get much harder to score weed; it won’t make the government all that much money; you’re going to stop hearing pot referred to as medicine; car crashes are likely to go up; a whole lot more newborns are poised to fail drug tests; and get ready for lots of stoned dogs and children.” To get the full rationale behind these consequences, I encourage you to read the Oct. 17 edition of the Post. While I continue to oppose the legalization of marijuana, I do recognize that the horse, so-to-speak, is out of the barn. I therefore, encourage the Liberal government to finally initiate a strong and effective public education campaign, to ensure all Canadians are aware of the new rules as well as the potentially dangerous consequences of the use and abuse of marijuana. I also suggest they continue to work with the provinces and territories to create standardized rules to alleviate the uncertainty and confusion from coast to coast. Joseph Lawrence Sieben January 28, 1945 ~ October 13, 2018 Joseph Lawrence Sieben of Camrose, Alberta, formerly of Cosine, SK and Provost, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the age of 73 years. Joseph Lawrence Sieben was born to John and Mary Sieben on January 28, 1945 in Macklin, SK. He spent his first three years in Cosine, SK before relocating to Provost, Alberta with his parents and eight siblings. He quickly became a young man and found the woman of his dreams, Dianne Katherine Keller, whom he married on July 28, 1965. They started their family almost immediately, giving life to two boys: Grant on October 21, 1966 and Todd on August 14, 1970. Joe was a hardworking young man who started pulling wrenches at a very early age and earned his automotive mechanic journeyman certificate on November 5, 1969. Although Joseph and Dianne loved their lives in Provost, they moved to Camrose where Joseph happily spent the last 23 years. Joseph was an early riser who loved his garage and his yard. A man with many talents, he thrived at whatever challenge with which he was faced. He was a selfless person who gave openly and graciously whenever there was someone hurting or in need. He was the biggest fan during all the sporting events he so willingly attended and missed very few road trips to the various sporting venues. More importantly, he was always his grandchildren’s biggest advocate. Joseph left this world so suddenly. He leaves to cherish his memory his son Grant and his three children Michael (Alexis), Emily and Hannah; his son Todd and his two children Kyle and Chad; his sisters Loretta and Marie; and her brothers John and Danny. He will be welcomed into heaven by Dianne, his wife of 48 years; his parents Mary and John; and his siblings Dorothy, Salomon, Josie and Catherine. Joseph will always be loved and will be missed by so many. Besides cars and sports, family and friends were his greatest passion, and he was very fortunate to have so many. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 5010-48A Avenue, Camrose with Father Larry Pederson officiating. Inurnment will take place in Valleyview Cemetery, Camrose. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Joseph’s memory may be made to KidSport Camrose. Gordon “Ross” Edwards Gordon “Ross” Edwards, of Camrose, Alberta, died at St. Mary’s Hospital, Camrose, Alberta surrounded by his family, on Friday, October 5, 2018. Ross was 87 years old. Ross is survived by: his children, Brenda, Randy (Jody), Doug (Lana) and Corinne (Chris); his granddaughters, Laurel, Erika, Isabelle and Sophie; his brothers-in-law, John Sproule and Wayne (Gisele) Reinboldt; and several nieces and nephews. Ross was predeceased by: his wife, Laurene; his parents, Ernie and Chrissie (Gordon); his brother, Lloyd; and his sisters, Shirley Landreth and Lorraine Sproule. Ross was born on August 21, 1931 in Lashburn, Saskatchewan and grew up in Marsden, Saskatchewan. He was an active sports participant as player and coach, especially curling, baseball and golf. For over 51 consecutive years, he participated in the Marsden Mens’ Curling Bonspiel. He joined his father in the grocery business in Marsden in 1949, becoming a partner in 1955. The store was known as A.E. Edwards & Son until 1967 when his father retired. Then it became known as Edwards Shop-Rite; thus, he was known to many as “Shop-Rite”. In 1976, after 54 years of operation by the Edwards’ family, the store was sold. On October 16, 1957, he married Laurene Reinbolt on a Wednesday afternoon because that was the usual time that the store was closed. In very short order, their four children were born. In 1977, Ross and Laurene opened Edwards’ Variety Store in Maidstone, Saskatchewan which they operated until 1996. After they sold that business, they retired in Camrose, Alberta to be closer to their family while avoiding the big city life. Ross continued to actively curl and golf for as long as he was physically able. Celebration of Life in memory of Ross was conducted from Marsden Community Hall, Marsden, Saskatchewan on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Don Retzlaff officiating. Memories were shared by family and friends. The active pallbearers were Brenda Edwards, Randy Edwards, Doug Edwards, Corinne Edwards, Kevin Sproule and Blair Sproule. Private family graveside was held at the Wycollar Cemetery, near Marsden, Saskatchewan. Donations in memory of Ross may be made to STARS or Charity of your Choice. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta, administered the funeral arrangements. The family of the late Ross Edwards wish to extend our sincere thanks for your many kindnesses, and for the condolences and support that we have received. We also send our gratitude and appreciation to the staff of St. Mary’s Hospital at Camrose, Alberta, Don Retzlaff, and Joel, Dave and staff at McCaw Funeral Service.
Olsons honoured as community builders By Murray Green
Mardell and Verlyn Olson were honoured by the Battle River Community Foundation as the 2018 Community Builders at the 15th annual celebration at the Norsemen Inn on Oct. 19. Together they have made a difference in politics, hockey, with the Viking Cup, community functions and launched the Nordlys Film Festival. In his opening remarks, David Ofrim, chairman of the BRCF board, noted that since the foundation was launched in 1995, it has accumulated an endowment of $14.5 million as of June 30. To date, the foundation has delivered more than $5.8 million for worthwhile projects and initiatives throughout the area served by the foundation. Vermilion-Lloydminster
MLA Richard Starke said, “Camrose, thank you for sharing this amazing couple with the rest of Alberta. Mardell and Verlyn, thank you for the friendship, always being there, for being the people you are.” Emcee Keith Lyseng said about Verlyn’s impact on the agricultural industry, “Since Verlyn has left the agricultural ministerial position, we have had the worst three harvest seasons. I don’t know if that is a coincidence or not.” Mardell’s cousin Val Sims added, “They (Mardell and Verlyn) are the perfect couple and citizens to help communities stay strong.” After exploiting some of Veryln’s deficiencies, friend and former partner Bill Andreassen had this to say. “What I’m going to leave you with is that if you have defects and you’re

a little slow (running), you can learn from people and pick up things from people; you can take time out from your family for community benefit; be energetic; you don’t have to be aggressive and arrogant; you can be yourself; you can be quietly competent; and Verlyn has all of these examples. Between
Verlyn and Mardell, they were pretty instrumental in organizing community events. Sons Hans and Erik recalled life at home. “They always enjoyed welcoming people into their home. We can confirm they are community builders. The calendar above the phone desk always looks
like an encyclopedia of random events and volunteer commitments. For us, they have been a model of citizenship, integrity and honesty,” said Hans. Mardell and Verlyn responded, “We feel sheepish being honoured in this room full of community builders. We feel the Foundation is a gift to the community. When you think of the hundreds of grants given to organizations every year to enable them to do great things for people, it is truly remarkable,” said Mardell. Net proceeds for the Olson Community Builders Dinner will be in the neighborhood of $81,000. This amount will be used to establish the Mardell and Verlyn Olson Fund, which will become a part of the BRCF Community Fund, devoted to meeting emerging needs in the Battle River area forever.

Q.
How does the Battle River Community Foundation decide how much to grant each year?
A.
Canada Revenue dictates a minimum of 3.5% of our endowments be granted each year. The capital preservation of the funds is closely monitored by the BRCF to ensure the funds never become eroded, while granting as much as possible to the worthwhile causes.

Old Plymouth Fury brought back to life By Murray Green
Tom Calhoun of Camrose thought his 1960 Plymouth Fury two-door hardtop was a lost cause. A meeting with a deer didn’t end well for the car and Tom had to stop driving it. It sat for a long time with the glory days behind it. “I bought the car in 1968 when I moved from New Brunswick. I drove it until October 1969 when I hit a deer and the transmission went on it,” recalled Tom. “The engine was already shot, so I stored it at my father-in-law’s for awhile, then my brother-in-law’s. It was stored in a field from 1969 to about 2011.” Back in the day, his car was popular and he proudly drove it when he was dating Leona, who became his wife. “It was our dating car. Then we got married and after the accident, I had to stop driving it. I just stored it because I couldn’t afford to fix it,” said Tom. “There wasn’t very many of them around (1960 Plymouth) so it was hard to get parts. It originally had a four-barrel carburetor, but the engine was gone. They found a 318 motor with a two-barrel carburetor, but I said it had to be the same as the original, so we had to search for the right carburetor.” Then, out of the blue, his son Dave pulled it out and fixed the classic and reintroduced it to his dad Tom, who was overwhelmed with the restoration. “Our son pulled it out about 10 years ago because he didn’t think his dad would ever restore it,” said Leona. “At the time, he couldn’t afford to do it. Our son thought it would be too much for him to do, so he took it to his cousin in Saskatoon to restore. It took

Murray Green, Camrose Booster Tom Calhoun and his wife Leona have special memories of their 1960 Plymouth Fury “dating car.” It was parked for long time after colliding with a deer. Their son Dave had it restored for them as a surprise.
more than three years to complete. He presented it to us last December.” The car has traveled almost coast to coast, but survived all those years. “It was very emotional for Tom when he saw the car again. He had lost his mom and both of his brothers, so he was going through a rough patch when Dave decided to cheer him up with the restored Plymouth,” added Leona. “Everything is as original as possible. He did have to get a donor car to get a bumper because he found
FUN FACTS
The Plymouth Fury is a model of automobile which was produced by Plymouth from 1955 to 1989. It was introduced for the 1956 model year as a sub-series of the Plymouth Belvedere, becoming a separate series one level above the contemporary Belvedere for 1959. The Fury was a full-size car from 1959 to 1961. The 1960 model was the first year for unibody construction, the first year for Chrysler’s ram induction system, and new Slant-Six engine. The original 318 and 383 were available, along with a 361. The Fury remained Plymouth’s sales volume model through the early 1960s. Tail fins were removed for 1961, as per trends of the time.
one and then someone stole it. He had to get a different one. It has the original seats, but the upholstery was re-done to exactly the way it was.” Leona also remembered that back in 1968, Tom couldn’t afford much so he bought this car that was eight years old on the lot. “He paid $300 for it and we drove it for a year-and-ahalf until we hit the deer. We couldn’t afford to restore back then, so we ended up buying a little car from my brother.” Leona and Tom have helped Dave over the years, so restoring the vehicle was a nice payback. “I remember playing with the seat lever one day, thinking it would go up and down. As it turns out, the seat swivels, so it is much easier for a lady to get out with a dress on. I was hoping it would move back, but this is a nice option you don’t see in other cars,” she added. The car was kept with
the same colours as it had when it rolled off the lot. “Our son wanted a different colour, but we wanted it original. It has so many memories and we wanted to preserve those,” said Leona.
“I’m always in the garage cleaning it. Leona asked how come I don’t clean the other vehicles. But, it isn’t as much fun,” laughed Tom.

Kodiaks fall short By Murray Green
The Brooks Bandits built up a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes and hung on to win 5-4 over the Camrose Kodiaks on Oct. 16. Brooks scored the only goal in the first and then poured it on in the second after Adam Kolcon replied for the Kodiaks. Zach Vinnell (recently committed to Merrimack College) started the offence rolling in the third and a minute and a half later Nick Mantai kept the momentum going with another tally. A Kodiaks power play two minutes later produced a goal from Dawson Schwengler to tie the game. All three goals came from defencemen. However, the comeback fell short when Brooks replied 17 seconds after the equalizer to regain the lead. Camrose goalie Roddy Ross stole the show by turning away 44 of 49 shots. The Kodiaks collected 17 shots in the contest. The Kodiaks lost twice to the Canmore Eagles, 4-2 and 5-4. In the Oct. 13 4-2 loss, the teams exchanged goals in the first two frames as Vinnell and Damon Zimmer scored for Camrose. The teams had a path to the penalty box well worn in the third and it was the Bandits that stole a goal on a power play opportunity early in the third to set the pace. They added another tally in the middle of the period. Goalie Griffin Bowerman stopped 27 of 31 shots. Camrose fired 31 shots on net. In the first meeting with Canmore, the Eagles went ahead 4-1 in the first and held off a Camrose comeback. Declan Whillans scored for Camrose in the first and Kyler Kupka notched a tally in the second. The Kodiaks rallied in the third with markers from Whillans and Vinnell. Ross started in goal for Camrose, but his 10 saves on 14 shots wasn’t good enough. Bowerman came in and turned away 24 of 25 shots. The Kodiaks host Drumheller on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. in the net home game. Bear facts

Sullivan has a r-e-a-l-l-y big show By Murray Green
The Bailey Theatre’s version of the Ed Sullivan show will be returning for two encore shows on Nov. 17 and 18. The first show last spring was a sold-out hit with Ken Valgaardson as the host. “This fall, Dale Adam will be our host and we have a good lineup of local talent in the show,” said Dan Olofson, one of the producers of the show. “This year, we have two shows because of the demand and some people who wanted to go couldn’t get tickets. The Saturday
performance is at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday it will be the same show at 2 p.m.” The show features local talent on stage in a similar format that made the Ed Sullivan Show famous on television from 1948 to 1971. “People will be singing songs that were on the show. This year, we even have a dance performance to add some more variety. The intent is to showcase the talented people we have in the community,” explained Dan. Edward Vincent Sullivan (Sept. 28, 1901 to Oct.
13, 1974) was an American television personality, sports and entertainment reporter, and syndicated columnist for the New York Daily News and the Chicago Tribune. He is principally remembered as the creator and host of the television variety program The Toast of the Town, eventually renamed The Ed Sullivan Show. It was broadcast for 23 years and set a record as the longest-running variety show in US broadcast history. “The funds generated from the Ed Sulli-
van Variety Show will go towards the Bailey Theatre to assist with costs of keeping the facility operating. The theatre brings in good shows over the year and we want that to continue downtown.” The Joel Grey Horns, the best horn section from Edmonton, will join the house band to make it an eight-piece band to back up acts. They have appeared around Camrose before with various bands and at the Bailey Theatre with the Xtatix.

OLMP Royals host football semifinal contest By Murray Green
The Our Lady of Mount Pleasant Royals finished with a 5-1 record in the Alberta Six Man Football League regular season. The football squad defeated Edson 68-52 in a high scoring affair and beat Hinton 30-28. “Our team played very well as a whole
in our last game. We won against Hinton without either of our quarterbacks,” said coach Jamie Stacey. “We are in our third year and building a good program. I’m only in my first year as head coach, but we have a solid coaching staff,” he said. The 5-1 record put the
Royals into the playoffs. They will face Edson again in the semifinals in Camrose. Playoffs will begin about Oct. 25 or 26. “We are led by quarterback Will Knopf, linebacker Mason Kucy and running back Luke Johnson. We have good young rookies with slotback Jaxon Ball
and safety Kaiden Leach. We also have a young deep threat with Devon Kucy and we are developing a

The École Camrose Composite High School Trojans defeated Rocky Mountain House Rebels 28-7, Oct. 16. The ÉCCHS Trojans needed a big team effort and that is what they got. The passing attack, led by quarterback Drew Loosemore, went 8-16 for 234 yards and two touchdowns, both to Aiden Brown. “Brown was stellar for the Trojans with three catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns,” said coach Adam Belanger. “He also picked off the Rocky quarterback twice and had another pass knockdown.” Denton Robertson, Drew Forester, Ryan Pauls, Terryl Sherman and lineman Carson Fountain all caught passes in the Trojan win. Loosemore
was nicked up on the last drive and Forester left his receiver spot to complete a shovel pass to Sherman who scored the final touchdown. Sherman was busy on the night. In addition to the touchdown, he kicked two field goals and all three extra points as well as a rouge on a punt. Sherman also led the defence in tackles with seven. Jason Bennet had five tackles (three of them quarterback sacks) and Ethan Matthews and Brock Dalke added four each. “With the win, the Trojans set up a home playoff game against the Rebels at Harry Andreassen Field in Kin Park. The game is tentatively scheduled for Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.,” said coach Belanger.

Grant spoke on the AHS Health & Business Plan four main goals. “The unique thing that Camrose brings to the plan is delivering a health plan in a collaborative fashion with various partners. We also see the value that each one of you brings to that collaboration.” She described the first goal of improving patients’ and families’ experiences, and specifically what is Leanne Grant

Man charged with possession child porn Oct. 18
Camrose Police assisted the Alberta Integrated Child Exploitation unit in the arrest of a male from Camrose. The investigation resulted in the 57-year-old being charged with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography. A bail hearing resulted in the male being released with conditions not to be around children under the age of 16 and not to attend locations where children are known to be present.
Grant began by explaining that AHS is partnered with Alberta Health who provides the legislation and direction of health care throughout the province. “AHS ensures the health services are delivered throughout the province.” The Health & Business Plan was developed by AHS and Alberta Health, along with public engagement within the province, to build an understanding of what is occurring in communities, such as Camrose and area, and how AHS can best meet the health needs of Albertans. “We are trying to change the focus from an illness-based model, which we have had over the past years, to how can we improve Albertans’ health and well being,” remarked Grant. “Not only how do we make people healthy, but we are looking at the
happening in Camrose and area. “Every month, we have a health leadership meeting between Covenant Health, AHS, Bethany, Seasons and Primary Care Network. We determine what people in the community are saying and how can we make things better and troubleshoot any concerns.”
“T
he unique thing that Camrose brings to the plan is delivering a health plan in a collaborative fashion with various partners.
”
Grant said AHS also has a seniors’ health advocate who is listening for stories on how AHS can make improvements along with a health advisory that meets several times a year.
She spoke of some of the services being offered for Camrose and area, including the Community Paramedic Program, Home Care Services (services over 700 clients in their homes), Respite Services in the home, Children Rehabilitation Program, Flu Immunization Program, Employers Healthy Living Centre and they are working towards a 24-hour care service in Camrose. “With regards to the second goal of improving patient population health outcomes and getting people out and being more active, our main goal is helping Albertans take proactive roles in their own health care.” The third goal of the AHS plan involves improving the experience and safety of people and Grant indicated part of the strategy for AHS is to listen to small business owners and focus on looking at enhancing the site and social safety emergency department. Grant said for the final goal of improving financial health and value for money, AHS is very much aware they are spending Albertans’ money and a lot of money goes towards health care. “There is a lot of opportunity to expand what is best value for each person. We can increase spending in our community to help ease the demand of acute care centres. We want healthy Albertans in their homes. “Here in Camrose, we have close to 400 facility care spaces and what we are really trying to do is make those care spaces their home – getting them into the right service of care when they need it. Grant noted that AHS has been able to enhance programs and still stay within spending from last year. “We are going in a different direction of wellness versus illness and keeping people in their homes and want to collaborate with what you see as needs in your community.” City of Camrose manager Malcolm Boyd suggested to Grant there may be more opportunities for Camrose to be used as a “test bed” for AHS with regards to new programs and services. Grant indicated the community is already thinking outside of the box and are leaders in being part of new and innovative programs and services. Helpful Tips for Writing Classified Ads Which Get Results! Be Thorough
Sure you want your ad to stand out from the rest, but don’t skimp on the sort of information that sells. The item’s condition, size, age, brand name, and colour are some of the basics readers want to know. Without them, your ad may be overlooked.
Steer Clear of Abbreviations
Okay, so you want to include all the important basics. Don’t use strange abbreviations because our ads are designed to spell all the important details. Besides, you are not paying by the line, but by the word, so there is really no need to abbreviate.
Be Honest
Exaggerating your item’s finer points may bring in a lot of responses, but a buyer who’s misled won’t appreciate it and will take his business somewhere else.
State Your Price
The cost of an item is one of the most important concerns of want ad readers. Ads showing prices are ones which get results. Giving a price also serves to “weed out” those buyers not in your price range.
Be Accessible
Including a telephone number or address puts you in touch with potential buyers. Be sure to state the hours you can be reached: a caller who can’t get through the first time often won’t call again.
Don’t hesitate to call us with any questions or problems you may have regarding advertising. Our professionally trained sales staff know the ropes, and would be happy to pass their know-how on to you. That’s why we’re here to help you get the results you deserve.
