HOME & YARD IMPROVEMENT EDITION Home Renovator’s Prayer Dear Higher Power (AKA internet, Home Hardware, family): Grant me the courage to fix the things I can, the humility to call in the pros when I’m in over my head, and the wisdom to know the difference.
I was doing some home renovations and I was knocking down a wall, only to find a secret unfurnished room behind it. Then I remembered we live in a duplex.
A plumber was working in a house when the lady of the house said to him, “Would it be okay for me to take a bath while you’re eating lunch?” The plumber stopped working, sat on the toilet and replied, “It’s okay with me, lady, as long as you don’t splash my sandwiches.” My renovator asked me if he could remove the mirrors in my living room. I asked him to wait, I need time to reflect.
Gardening is cheaper than therapy … and you get tomatoes! Why did the nosey roofer do such a bad job? He kept eavesdropping.
I love home improvements! The best one I ever did was disconnect the doorbell. (Fortunately, the pizza delivery man knocks.)
When our lawn mower broke and wouldn’t run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed. But, somehow I always had something else to take care of first, the shed, the boat, watching TV. Finally, she thought of a clever way to make her point. When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house. I was gone only a minute, and when I came out again I handed her a toothbrush. I said, “When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the driveway.” The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.
Husbands can be like lawn mowers. They are difficult to get started, emit foul smells, and don’t work half the time. I garden in the nude. It’s a lot cheaper than a scarecrow.
I think I’m going to hire the same landscaper I used last year. He was really easy to get a lawn with.
I was at my local home improvement store yesterday looking in the window section. An employee came over and asked if I needed any help. I responded “No thanks, I’m just window shopping.” Planning to do some gardening today. I’m going to plant myself on the couch.
A man goes to the bank and asks for a home-improvement loan. The loan officer asks him what home improvements he plans to do. The man responds, “Well, I’d like to send my wife on a six-month vacation.” The loan officer replies, “Sir, a vacation for your wife isn’t a home improvement.” The man says, “Well, have you seen my wife?”

Hose Cutter- used to make hoses too short – but only usually at one end. Hammer - a divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object you are trying to hit. Pliers - designed for rounding off bolt heads.
