Vikings Community Basketball Academy The Vikings Community Basketball Academy is aimed at developmentally appropriate skill development using skill practice and small-sided games. Vikings players and community coaches will lead the groups through skill development and competitive scenarios designed to improve physical literacy, basketball skill, game awareness and foster a love of the game. Participants in the Advance Academy will participate in a demonstration night during halftime of a Vikings Basketball home game.

Vikings on the Move: Gymnastics Movement Programs The Vikings on the Move: Gymnastics Movement Program encourages the overall development of physical literacy. This is a non-competitive program where kids ages 3 to 12 can learn body movement and be active in a fun and educational atmosphere. Participants interact with coaches in small groups and become familiar with equipment. Gymnastics Movement targets and strengthens all muscles of the body and is an active way to stay healthy and burn off some of that energy! Register early as space is limited.

Workshops in building cAPacity for reconciliation WORKSHOPS IN BUILDING CAPACITY FOR RECONCILIATION Augustana’s Workshops in Building Capacity for Reconciliation is a cocurricular certificate program for those who want to learn more about the Indigenous peoples of Canada. Through a series of six thematic workshops, participants will learn from experts, engage in meaningful dialogue, and consider the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Final Report and 94 Calls to Action. With a focus on how Augustana can be a leader in reconciliation at the post-secondary level, these workshops will also build participants’ personal capacities to engage in reconciliation work. Two ways to participate: 1. Register for the co-curricular certificate program. Subsidized cost to participate is $75.00 for members of the public. 2. Participate in lectures associated with each workshop and open to the public to attend. Although this will not lead to the certificate, you will be exposed to

a range of knowledge and experiences from across Canada relating to reconciliation. Lectures are free for all to attend. Residential Schools & History – October, 2017: Ms Susanne Calliou and Ms Delilah Potts of the Métis Settlements General Council will share history and information on the Métis residential school experience. Education – January 29, 2018: Dr. Jan Hare, Associate Dean of Indigenous Education, University of British Columbia. Community Conservatory Programs Music Lessons For all ages we offer a variety of private lessons including brass, piano, clarinet, saxophone, flute, recorder, violin, guitar and voice. Music Together Infants, toddlers and preschoolers exploring music in family style classes with their parents or caregivers through songs, instruments, rhythm chants and movement activities. Ages: 0-4 Music With Children An early childhood music program for 3-7 year olds in which they discover music in a natural way through games, songs, rhymes, movement, and rhythm instruments. Keyboard Explorers For children 6-9 years of age who have completed the Music with Children program and wish to continue their musical training through piano instruction.
