Thesis: The Greek influence of outstanding culture, gods, and their beautiful art to the Romans' they took this inspiration on to their own creation. Both ancient build devotion to their gods they would bring the most precious things to them temples, however, they would focus on making large empire to rule and to take control of their city–states.

Ancient Greek and Rome started out as small city–states they both grew into large empires. From the similar roles they agree on religion, both ancient civilizations approach quite successful. Ancient Greek and Roman admit being polytheistic, adoration of many gods and goddesses. Devotions to all the gods increase importance of recognition of their honorable deeds when they were alive. Donald L. Wasson said, "At the end of the day were concerned with the relationship between the gods and humans, differing in this regard from fairytales and folktales." Inexperienced teachers have a good subject specialism, this is generally fresh from their training, however not much practical experience in the classroom and dealing with difficult situations. When we compare, we show our readers a subject's similarities. When we contrast, we show our readers a subject's differences.

Compare and Contrast essays are learning–process essays. You learn about your subject as you gather and organize information.

This type of essay takes a bit of organization, and it's this organizational process, this gathering of facts, that helps you learn as you go. You will create lists of qualities or traits that each of your subjects has, and as you do this, you will discover insights to your subject that, at first glance, you may not have realized were there.

Be careful, sometimes going point by point can make your writing sound tedious and repetitive. Watch your language and transition words. Use several points at a time.

In the short story, "Everyday Use" by Alice Walker, a foil is shown between the two sisters in the story. While the two sisters, Maggie and Dee, are two way different girls, they are not completely different and they share some similarities like all sisters do. Instructions of How to Write a Compare and Contrast Essay

First look at the items you are supposed to compare and contrast. Do you understand them? If you are writing an essay outside of class, look them up. Start with your text book but also look at your notes from class, and even go and check them out at Wikipedia. If you are taking a test, and can't look things up, pause and think over what these things mean. The next two steps will help you remember.

Make a list of ways the two items are the same. This is the "compare" part of a compare and contrast essay. (For an in class essay, it will be good if you can bring in extra paper. If you can't, you can make some notes on the back of your blue book.)

Look at your list items that support you, and write about them all, and why they are important.

With compare and contrast essays, the conclusion will be a lot like the introduction. You summarize what you just said. You may find that some points came up in writing that you hadn't put in your intro. This is a good time to refer back to those.

If this is not an in–class essay test, you should try to set the essay aside after you finish, so you can go back later with your mind fresh. You may come up with a few other items you want to talk about on your compare or contrast list. You may come up with a better way to write your introduction or conclusion.

If you can master how to write compare and contrast essays, you will find that you can use that form for a lot of other essays when the instructor doesn't give you a format.

'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge' and 'The Red Convertible' 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge' by Ambrose Bierce and 'The Red Convertible' by Louise Erdrich both recount sorrowful tales of men during times of war. The stories differ in that 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge' is a story written in reverse, where the readers do not truly know the plot until the end– whereas 'The Red Convertible' is just a man recounting the story of his long lost brother. However despite their differences, both of the stories continue to build up hope in the reader only to find nothing but a sorrowful story at the end.

The entire story was just a snapshot that occurred in his mind before his death. Ambrose Bierce purposefully continues to build the anticipation that the devout Union soldier had escaped, only to drop the reader into a tale of demise and overall doom. 'The Red Convertible' by Louise Endrich was written in 1984 and revolves around a Vietnam veteran and his brother. Lyman Lamartine is a young man whose brother has just returned from the Vietnam War and has been traumatized by what he had seen overseas.

Before the war, Lyman and his brother Henry were extremely close. Before Henry departed for the war, and as Lyman recounts in the story, the two bonded over a red convertible. This car proves to be symbolic, both throughout, and at the end of the story, due to the change in Henry's behavior, illustrated by this quote from when Henry returns: "We had always been together before. But he was such a loner now that I didn't know how to take it."

When Henry returns, he has no desire to ride in the red convertible, no desire to wear the bright colored clothes he used to dawn instead Henry just liked to sit around and sob about the war.
