3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment Family Care Team (FCT) Volunteer Position Description SUPERVISOR: BN Rear Detachment Commander OBJECTIVE: Support the Next of Kin, Soldier, or other Family Member following official notification of the death, injury or other crisis matter that deeply alters the Family’s health and welfare.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  Provide immediate assistance and basic emotional support and comfort to the family until further help can arrive.  Ensure Children are picked up from school (if applicable)  Ensure Spouses place of employment is notified (if applicable)  Secure or provide immediate home supplies (if applicable)  Place or answer phone calls, take messages and screen calls/visitors at request of the NOK  Maintain a log of incoming phone calls and visitors  Record questions/issues expressed by the NOK for resolution by appropriate officials (i.e.

Casualty Affairs Officer, BN RDC, etc)  Use of a Government vehicle is authorized for this position. Use of Government vehicle is provided without detriment to the accomplishment of the unit’s mission.  Provide periodic updates to the BN FCT Coordinator and/or Rear Detachment Commander  Other duties as requested by the NOK, BN Family Care Team Coordinator, or Rear Detachment Commander SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION: Primary supervision is by the Rear Detachment Commander and secondary supervision is by the BN FCT Coordinator. An After Action Review (AAR) of each activation occurrence will be completed upon completion of a debrief.

TIME REQUIRED: Varies. May range anywhere from 6 to 72 hours after a casualty.

QUALIFICATIONS: Maturity, discretion, maintains confidentiality, emotional stability. A motor vehicle is required for this position; volunteer must have their own POV. Volunteers without small children are preferred; however, it is acceptable if the Volunteer has a solid childcare plan.

POSITIONS TERMS: One-year commitment. Volunteer will commit to being “On Call” as activations could occur at anytime. Volunteer will inform the BN CRT Coordinator and/or the FRSA if they will be unavailable or away from station for any period of time.
