In the News: A talented artist that has built a strong fan following should not be blackballed by certain radio stations because of her personal life. She is dating a nationally syndicated radio host. Well that is the case with Lindsay Ell and we bring you up to date on the latest including a word or two from Bobby Bones.

Tommy West Band’s “Perfect Holiday” Tommy West is proud to release ‘Perfect Holiday’ as his 2nd single to Country Radio late May. This is a Perfect song to add this summer. “Tommy West is thinking big and moving fast.” said Tom Harrison from The Vancouver Province on January 29, 2017. My music is one of the biggest things about who I am,” says Tommy. “The stories within the songs reflect my attitude about growing up on the west coast. ‘Perfect Holiday’ is reflective of Tommy’s lifestyle and deep values of family, friends and fun ! “All of Tommy’s songs are uncontrived; their sincerity believable. They’re what sets him apart.” said Tom Harrison, Vancouver Province music columnist who wrote a review of Tommy West on January 29, 2017.

Tareya “Summer Wheels” Country music star Tareya has been scaling the heights of the Canadian music industry since 2012, with multiple JUNO and CCMA award nominations and chart topping singles earned through her former popular country duo, Autumn Hill. With her debut single, “Summer Wheels”, Tareya is exploring the edges of her music roots. This dashboard drumming cruise tune is a celebration of her romance-filled introduction to southern beaches and her love for a man who digs classic cars

ANDREW FRELICK “THROWBACK”

“Dynamic and determined” are just two words that can best describe country artist, Andrew Frelick! Born in Halifax, NS and having grown up in the nearby town of Bridgewater, Andrew has rapidly built momentum after showcase performances during the 2015 CMA & CCMA festival weeks “Throwback” is one of those songs where you want to turn the radio up whether you are at the beach, sitting in the backyard or on a road trip and sing along. This makes for a perfect add to your playlist. You will be able to catch Andrew at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival this summer and many other summer events. Check out his dates at https://www.facebook.com/ pg/andrewfrelickmusic/events/

Beyond The Sun “Cruisin’ Round Town” A Great song for time at the beach or sitting around the pool or on a road trip where you want to turn the radio up loud. We see this as a single that will make it’s way up the charts, While Canadian bred band Beyond the Sun may be new to the country scene, they are far from strangers to the musical spotlight. Made up of three tight-knit brothers, the group of singer Colin, guitarist Phil and drummer Dalton Radu grew up in the small town of Bowmanville, Ontario. It all started with plastic guitars and living room concerts for their parents at the ages of 6, 8 and 11. Little did the three know at the time that just over a decade later they would be hearing themselves on Sirius XM radio and performing for a 7,000 person sold-out crowd at Puerto Rico’s Wild Summer Festival. With traces of their influences – which include artists like Coldplay, Billy Currington, Bruce Springsteen and Florida Georgia Line – threaded into each one of their songs, their sound is a progressive mix that is attracting both diehard country fans and pop enthusiasts. On the heels of acts like Chris Lane, COIN and Ryan Follese, the trio has relocated to Nashville, Tenn. where they are celebrating the release of their new [CanCon] single, “Cruisin’ Round Town,” a head-bobbing country anthem hitting radio airwaves this summer. “This is a Canadian brother trio. Their debut single is a summertime, bob-that-head, anthem. It is also super tuneful and wildly addictive. The bro’s have recently moved to Music City. If the rest of their songs are this good, roll out a great big welcome mat.” – Music Row Magazine

Lauren Mayell “Small Town Weekend” In the last 12 months Lauren has performed 82 shows and events, including 40 radio stations and two TV shows across Canada, released two singles to radio (“The Good Guy” and “Better Believe”) and finished her EP “I’ve Changed” which includes 5 of her own co-written songs. “I’ve Changed” will be released in 2017. Her new single is called “Small Town Weekend” and is at radio now. Lauren was recently crowned Country 105’s “Rising Star” entitling her to a main stage performance at Country Thunder Music Festival - Calgary August 19, 2017. She also won Cowboys’ Country Thunder contest entitling her to a second show at the festival on August 19, 2017.

DEAN YOUNG “GET YOUR COUNTRY ON” Dean Young was raised in a musical family and he was even showcasing his talents at square dances by age 3. While no musical journey is ever an easy one, Young has had his fair share of trials and tribulations. Despite everything he has persevered and poured his heart and soul into creating his music. With this newest single, Dean asks... “ARE YOU READY TO...?” Get Your Country On is about taking a break from the fast pace of life. Making the time to reflect on what really matters, while spending time with the people who mean the most. A meaningful message that listeners will surely appreciate. Dean is releasing his new CD “Makin A Life” Dean will be holding a CD release party. It will be held on Saturday September 2nd at Sessions on the River in Fort Erie, doors open at 7 p.m. Dean will be on around 9 pm. The venue also has the ability to stream the event, so it will be online too!

Gord has the right idea sitting by the lake wth a cold drink in your hand which I am sure a lot of us will be doing on Canada Day. Obviously there are major events in each province, city and small town across Canada. Get out and enjoy the events. We are going to take some time off. We will still have our daily newsletter all next week but we will not have our magazine. We will be back after Canada Day with a brand new issue. We hope you enjoy your long weekend and we wish you all safe travels where ever you may be going. Enjoy the fireworks and enjoy your time off. Reflect on what a great country we have and how lucky we are. Happy Canada Day everyboy.

CANADIAN Lindsay Ell Caught In Middle Of Sacramento Country Radio Battle Is radio really this insecure? One also has to think two things knowing Brad Paisley he would not be to happy and the second thing is two other stations in the market made a big deal and won the audience. The Country battle in SACRAMENTO suddenly became a national news story FRIDAY (6/16) following CBS RADIO Country KNCI’s decision to uninvite STONEY CREEK RECORDS’ LINDSAY ELL to a previously advertised performance at the station. ELL and label mate CHASE BRYANT were in town as openers for BRAD PAISLEY’s “WEEKEND WARRIOR WORLD TOUR” stop in SACRAMENTO on FRIDAY night. As the WASHINGTON POST soon reported, the cancellation stemmed from ELL’s relationship with boyfriend BOBBY BONES, whose PREMIERE syndicated morning show is carried by iHEARTMEDIA crosstown Country KBEB. Shortly after noon (PT), ELL tweeted, “Had a scheduled performance in SACRAMENTO today for listeners. The radio station asked me not to come [because] of my personal life. Sorry guys.” Never one to shy away from controversy, or a good TWITTER dialogue, BONES laid low on this one, tweeting, “I’ve stayed out of this. Not my fight, and frankly, [LINDSAY] can handle herself. But this is funny.” KBEB acted quickly, taking to social media and inviting ELL fans to the station for a performance, also declaring FRIDAY as “LINDSAY ELL Day in SACRAMENTO” and vowing to play her latest sin-

gle, “Waiting On You,” every hour until midnight on FRIDAY. ENTRAVISION Country KNTY followed suit, inviting listeners to a 1:30p performance by ELL. Like the KNCI performance, both KBEB and KNTY appearances by ELL had been scheduled ahead of time. KNCI issued an apology late FRIDAY afternoon, saying, “LINDSAY is an amazingly talented up-andcoming artist, and TODAY, we regrettably made a bad decision to cancel her show. We only hope that she - and our listeners - will forgive us, and her team will allow us to reschedule the show.” Bobby Bones pinned the blame for a vengeful radio tactic on a specific person during the June 19 broadcast of iHeartMedia’s The Bobby Bones Show and threatened to expose as many as a dozen other executives who have reportedly admitted to blackballing Stoney Creek artist Lindsay Ell over her personal relationship with Bones. Bones warned Ell when they started dating in June 2016 that rival stations might use the relationship as an excuse not to play her singles. During a 10-minute segment on his June 19 show, he berated “Chad” -presumably CBS/Sacramento vp programming Chad Rufer -- for the decision. Bones also indicated that he and Ell had been told by 13 terrestrial and nonterrestrial programmers that they would not play her music because of the relationship. Bones claims to have audio recordings and/or notes of those conversations and threatened to divulge more names.

CORIZON HEALTH PARTNERS WITH NATIONAL RECORDING ARTIST AND ACTOR MARK COLLIE TO LAUNCH UNIQUE PRISON MUSIC EXPRESSION PROGRAM Corizon Health CEO Karey Witty today announced an innovative partnership with critically acclaimed country singer-songwriter Mark Collie to incorporate music into the correctional healthcare company’s behavioral health program. Collie will serve as Corizon’s Music Therapy Ambassador and will be working with Corizon’s behavioral health team to develop evidence-based best practices for integrating music into group counseling sessions. A pilot program focused on inmates diagnosed with a variety of mental illnesses such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety, and Substance Abuse Disorder has launched at two Tennessee correctional facilities. The initiative will involve groups receiving a trauma-focused curriculum with music activities to highlight teaching points from the program. During weekly sessions, Collie will lead music expression through a variety of techniques including songwriting, singing and playing musical instruments. “In my opinion, music is one of the strongest and most effective medicines we can prescribe toward mental health and behavioral treatment,” shares Collie. “I’ve witnessed first hand the amazing results of music helping to restore and repair broken lives. The inspirational words and melody of a song can encourage and rekindle our faith, unlocking the doors of trust that

can lead us onto a path of greater understanding and healing. “ A guitar and a song saved my life and helped to heal me, and I believe it will do the same to many of those we are called to help inside and outside of prison walls,” he continued. “I am humbled and thankful for the opportunity to work with Corizon Health on this very important and promising endeavor.” The approach was inspired in part by Collie’s recently released documentary “The Mountain”, which premiered on the Blaze and DISH network last year in conjunction with the re-release of his critically acclaimed live album recording Mark Collie & His Reckless Companions: Alive At Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary (Eagle Rock Entertainment). The album was originally recorded in 2001 live for the inmates at Brushy Mountain, carrying on the legacy of Collie’s friend and inspiration Johnny Cash. “As a company we are constantly looking for innovative approaches to improve the health of our patients and help ensure their successful re-entry into society,” Corizon CEO Witty said. “Mark’s prior work clearly had a profound impact on those individuals with whom he engaged and we are excited to collaborate with him on a national scale.”

THE SISTERHOOD What do you get when you mix the blood of Ballie and The Boys and Rod Stewart? You get The Sisterhood and they just sign a deal with Sony Nashville. The Sisterhood are an organic bled of the open melodies of classic West Coast folk and the magnetic swagger of timeless rock n’ roll, powered by Alyssa and Ruby’s soaring richly textured harmonies and effortless chemistry. Both ladies have strong musical DNA. Alyssa is the daughter of Kathie Baillie & Michael Bonagura (the core of country band Baillie & The Boys) and Ruby’s father is rock icon Rod Stewart. The pair met through a group of musical friends while both working on their solo careers. Immediately bonding over growing up in the music business and sharing a mutual love and idolization of folk goddess Joni Mitchell, it wasn’t obvious to them that their friendship should turn professional until they were jamming on some Joni songs backstage after seeing a Rod Stewart gig together. He listened to their glistening harmonies of a song or two and told them “You two should start a band.” After only a year of knowing each other, the duo are capturing attention immediately all over the globe.

They’ve written and recorded their first EP which features the theme song “Tenderize My Heart” for the Stewarts & Hamilton’s show on E!, performed at Fashion Weeks in Milan and Miami, made guest appearances at Rod Stewart’s Vegas show at Caesar’s palace, landed a slot on the main stage at one of Australia’s biggest country music festivals, opened up for Gary Clark Jr., and now have just returned from their first 10 date UK stadium tour opening for Rod Stewart. Their meeting was happenstance, but the music they create together can only mean that nothing is ever truly coincidence. Voices of sirens, lyrics of poets; these two musical heirs are soul sisters are messengers of the music in their hearts. Two very different worlds colliding with one common thread makes the music they create one of a kind. Fresh sounds, haunting melodies, and signature voices and harmonies are what set The Sisterhood apart from any other female group in today’s popular music.

CHASE RICE INKS NEW DEAL WITH BBR MUSIC GROUP/BMG Chase Rice has quickly gained a reputation as a bit of an outsider with a wide independent streak in the country music world. Now, as initially reported by Rolling Stone’s Marissa Moss, he’s joining a record label that sees his point of view, inking a new deal with BBR Music Group/ BMG, and that means new music for fans, and soon. Rice has been assigned to the Broken Bow Records imprint, where he joins labelmates Jason Aldean and Dustin Lynch. Rice joined BBR executives at their Music Row offices for the signing (see this week’s episode of CR24/7 here). “I can’t tell you how excited I am to join the BBR family,” Rice said. “I knew from the moment we began talking that the people here understand where I’m coming from, and I can’t wait to share all the new songs we’re about to make together. In fact, we’re so excited, we promise we’ll have new music for you within a month.” Rice has been one of country music’s most exciting figures since arriving in Nashville. He co-wrote Florida Georgia Line’s megahit Diamond certified “Cruise” and his 2014 major label debut album, Ignite the Night, opened at No. 1 and yielded two Top 5 hits with “Ready Set Roll” and “Gonna Wanna Tonight,” in addition to over 900,000 in album sales. Rice initially released “Ready Set Roll” through his own Dack Janiels label and later partnered with Columbia Nashville for a wider release, though he never gave up control of his music to sign a long-term deal.

He selected BBR because of the label’s proven track record of fostering an independent spirit while still helping deliver hits for its acts. BBR is the home to country music outliers like Aldean, Lynch, Randy Houser, and Granger Smith, all artists who began as independents and continue to chart their own paths with millions of songs and albums sold. “Chase has a track record of connecting with fans whether it is socials, concert tickets, singles, or album sales,” said Jon Loba, EVP BBR Music Group. “He knows himself and his audience and has formed a rabid following. We are so excited to have him join our family and can’t wait for everyone to hear some incredible new music.” The 31-year-old singer-songwriter has had an eclectic life, playing football at the University of North Carolina, serving as a NASCAR pit crew member, even a role on a season of Survivor, all before finding success as a singer/songwriter/entertainer. His unrivaled live show has led to numerous sold out tours, a slot performing on Kenny Chesney’s stadium tour stops in 2015, and to ESPN’s Marty Smith noting in that sense, “Rice is an anomaly.”
