WELCOME Ranch Ready Bull Sale Welcome to the 7th Annual Ranch Ready Hereford Bull Sale. We started this sale six years ago, during some of the industry's toughest times; now we are about to see some of its best. At Braun Ranch we retain 35 bulls out of 160 purebred cows. We are proud of our bulls; but we're just as proud of our steers. We know the importance of a knife at branding time and we are not afraid to use it. The bulls are fed a high roughage ration of 2/3 hay, 1/3 straw and 8lbs of oats for the calves and 12lbs of oats for the long yearlings. The long yearling bulls run on grass from late May to late October and have a chance to grow out. Our bulls are all tie broke, horse broke and dog broke. Check out our website for more information @ www.braunranch.com Some background on Gillespie Ranch bulls: We retain 25 bulls out of 120 females. The steers are sold in October. The bull calves are weaned in November and are fed 1% of their body weight of a 17% screening pellet along with free choice hay. Over half the bull pen will be sold as yearlings. We select about 10 bulls to be carried over as long yearlings. They are put on grass June 1st and brought back in October 1st (no supplementing during summer). We then gradually get them up to 15 lbs of screening pellets along with free choice hay. We feel this grows them out, yet does not burn them up. The cows are fed 35 lbs of hay and hay alone. No silage trucks or barley bins on the place. The cows have to survive the same as yours would. We are reserving the right to draw semen on ANY of our bulls sold through the sale at the buyers’ convenience and our expense. If you are unable to attend the sale, please feel free to contact any of the contributors or Donnie Peacock. We would be happy to help you select a bull and have a representative bid on your behalf. We invite you to join us on March 24, to take in the strong offering of bulls. Thanks to everyone who has expressed interest in previous sales as well as the 2011 edition. Hope to see you at the sale! Craig Braun & Donnie Gillespie

Favorite among all visitors this summer. 14X is long spined, eye-appealing, thick butted, and has a top Superman cow to back him. She is one of our best and all daughters have been retained. Visitors told me she is what a Hereford cow should look like. Deep ribbed, good udder and feet and yellow. The kind of cow that holds condition while nursing a calf and wont hump up in -40 weather. Dam is a full sister to dam of GIL 13X and her Granddam in mom to GIL 14X. How is that for consistency?? Shows some cow power!! The dam to 18X has as good as udder as we have on the place. She is bred this year to our $25,000 CL 929 bull and we are hoping for a herd sire to retain for ourselves out of her. Kind of cow that I want to build a herd around.
