Welcome all to the 10th Anniversary of our “Tip the Scale” bull sale! It amazes me were the years have gone and I am sure lots of us can relate to that. To be able to raise our family on the farm and share it with them and now our grandchildren is a real blessing. The memories of emotion can never be matched of happy times and some incredible difficult times. To be able to raise animals, grow crops and put up feed have provided some breath taking great memories for all of us in the farming communities. Incredible cherished family moments have come from these years!

We see many young farm families starting and it truly excites me as we all know they also will make their mark in history and be able to make their passions come alive.

I believed the cattle prices would go up and many of you have read and heard me talk about where and what the future holds in the cattle industry. We’ve seen so many herds disperse over the years due to age, health, or income to keep those farm families afloat. Don’t be alarmed at these dispersals! If your planning on staying active take it as a positive.

We are at an all time shortage of cow numbers in North America and the numbers still continue to decrease. There has been a real strong urbanization in China with many Chinese moving to the cities. They have had an increase in wages and also a taste for beef. Last year Canada made a new agreement with China and we will see the demand for beef increase.

There’s no way we can know for sure but I see the cattle markets not only staying strong for many many years (8) or possibly even getting stronger as more shortages appear.

We are very fortunate to be able to raise crops, cattle and children on our farm. We take pride in it and invite you to come and celebrate with us and live it with us on February 16th!

Barndance had an incredible show career winning many shows, but I think his greatest show career is what he’s done for the breed.

Barndance was Grand Champion Red Angus at Olds, Farmfair, and Agribution and Supreme Champion Over All Breeds in Edmonton and named “Red Angus Show Bull of the Year”. His sons all express tremendous growth, appetite and muscle shape. We are very proud to be able to offer sons out of this “Truly Legendary Sire”.

This is 168W ‘s first son and we’re really excited about him! We have two daughters in our herd and a daughter went to Alton Century Farms in Lucknow, ON. 73B is definitely a Feature Bull and a pen favorite.

She had a feature daughter sell at Red Roundup to Sunberry Farms at Sundre (she was also awarded the “People’s Choice Award” at Red Roundup). 8R can raise sons and daughters that top our herd every time and with steller weaning weights. 78B’s 205 Day Weight was a whopping 914 lbs. off a ten year old dam!

The Barndance sons all have exceptional 205 Day Weights and very acceptable Birth Weights. When we can have 81 lb. Birth Weight and an 843 lb. 205 Day Weaning Weight, you’ve got to be extremely happy with that.

When you study 83B you really appreciate his length of body, his length from hooks to pins and how he carries his muscle down into his hind quarter.

WeLcome to our 2015 BuLL SALe! Welcome everyone to 2015 bull sale! What an awesome year to be in the cattle business, prices have been great! It looks like cattle industry is on an up word swing which is really awesome news.

This year has been an emotional roller coaster. It is hard to write my corner. We have had some wonderful family times – Jesse and Jac’s wedding on the river pasture was beautiful. Kyle & Nicole got engaged – so happy to have Kyle join our family. We went to Quebec & Ontario and visited some amazing ranches and got to know some great people! Very rewarding to see our progeny working all across Canada and see new ideas.

On the other side of emotion we sadly lost our granddaughter, Esme Violet, and it has been very hard on the whole family, especially Mike & Amanda. Bulls: Every animal entering the ring will be sold to the highest bidder.

In the case of a dispute the auctioneer’s decision is final.

Any changes from information in this catalogue will be announced from the auction block, such changes will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue.

Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Insurance will be available sale day.

Delivery: Free delivery of bulls to central points. We will winter bulls free of charge until May 1, 2015. Bulls left after this date will be charged a fee of $1.50/day for board.

Liability: Everyone that attends the sale does so at their own risk without any liability to the owners.

Breeder’s Guarantee All animals sold are guaranteed breeders. Any animal that has not proven himself during the 2015 breeding season and was not neglected by the buyer can be returned and replaced with a warranty bull or given credit toward next year’s sale.

VIKSE FAMILY FARM reserves the right to collect semen on ANY bull in the sale at our expense and the buyer’s convenience

in loving Memory of our Beautiful “esme” To express the emotion when our neighbors and friends showed up with combines, post pounders, balers, augers, picture crew and food... it’s hard to express our overwhelming relief and thank you’s! To watch fathers, mothers and grandparents showing their children and grandchildren the importance of helping neighbors in a time of need is very surreal and are very cherished memories.

Nicole had us watch the movie, “Pay It Forward”, which is basically a movie of doing something nice for someone for no reason except hoping they will pass it on.

We would like to pay it forward in memory of Esme and from all our family…

She was my brown eyed girl, my princess. I will always remember her independent personality, the way she had me wrapped around her beautiful little finger. She knew daddy would always say yes.

She never seemed to settle down and was like a wind that couldn’t be tamed she had the most vibrant spirit, but every once in a while… like a calm breeze it could feel as though she embraced your whole body with one gentle touch, a touch that somehow put every aching muscle in your body, the day’s stresses, and thoughts in your mind away somewhere safe. All that was left was a smile that melted your heart.

Her hand on my cheek was warm even in the hottest of summer days. I could feel it make my skin glow. And whenever I was away for days, or even a minute, the way she ran to me and exclaimed “DADDY!!!” would make my heart leap and fill my soul with an unforgettable joy.

Her eyelashes were soo long and she loved to brush my cheek with them… our butterfly kisses. (but she loved to make you ask for them even if she wanted to give them just as bad as you wanted them). There are so many things she did that brought light to my life that it now seems dark without her. Her big personality makes everywhere seem empty without her. I am now seeing, even in her absence, the light she shed on everyone else and continues to do so. Sweet dreams my Violet ,you are in heaven’s garden and I know you are a beautiful addition please keep sending your Daddy your light and love so he can be strong for Mom and Mommy’s guardian angel because she will miss you just as your Daddy does and will need you each and every day. Please play with your brother every day. Jump with him, laugh with him and grow within his heart!

We will never forget you.
