WITHIN THE ISSUE Note from the Res Life Office Pride Month Events Dear WiseOne

A NOTE FROM

THE RES LIFE OFFICE Hello to Goodbyes It is with a heavy heart that I write my last newsletter as editor. A year ago, our first issue was published before our doors had even opened. CampusOne was still a dream.

My favourite part of living and working at CampusOne was you! The residents. From funny whiteboard conversations to intense Ping Pong games to chats in the elevator, you made CampusOne a reality. It is the small moments of community that make living here so special.

Move Out Checklist Building Updates & Reminders

If you find yourself moving on to new adventures, such as myself, I hope you take with you the relationships you built and experiences you had at CampusOne. If you are calling CampusOne home again next year, you will be integral in welcoming the new residents into our community. Goodbyes are also beginnings. So, goodbye #YearOne. Hello #YearTwo! May the WiFi speeds be fast and elevators rides smooth. Desiree Residence Life Coordinator

Dear WISEONE Dear WiseOne,

Dear WiseONE,

I just graduated and I am saying good-bye to friends. Most of us are leaving the city and going our separate ways. We lived together, ate together, studied together, stress cried together, and celebrated together. I want to stay in touch; but, I never really maintained a long distance friendship. What can I do?

I’ve been putting food in the common kitchen fridge all year long. Recently, I’ve had left-overs go missing. It’s really frustrating and starting to get expensive! What should I do? Sincerely, Leave My Left-Overs Alone Dear Leave My Left-Overs Alone,

Sincerely, Miss You Already Dear Miss You Already, I have some bad news and good news. Bad news: It is inevitable that your friendships will change as the circumstances in your life do. University has a way of bringing people together and leaving can change that. Good news: Now more than ever you can stay connected no matter the distance. Create a tradition – an annual meet up, a snail mail letter chain, a monthly Skype call. Put it in your calendars and stick to it. Still, life might get in the way of the best laid plans. Keep your fond memories close, but don’t be afraid to build new relationships! Good luck!

I am sorry to hear this! Please report any theft to the 2nd floor desk, your Don, or the Don on Duty. When reporting, make sure to include when you last saw the item, when you noticed it missing, and a description of the item. The Res Life Staff will investigate every report, but reviewing the footage can take time! That being said, putting food in a common space is always a risk. If it makes sense based on your length of stay, we highly recommend having a mini-fridge in your room.

Common Kitchen Update There has been a rash of fire alarms triggered by common area kitchen cooking. Some were due to improper kitchen cooking, many of the more recent alarms were simply triggered by general use in the common area kitchens. As a result of the numerous alarms the Toronto Fire Department provided the direction to CampusOne to shut off the stove tops until such time we can resolve this unforeseen situation. The building engineers and contractors are in review of all possible solutions. We recognize the frustration of all tenants caused by these kitchen amenities being disabled, yet our first priority is the safety of all residents. We will provide additional updates on this unfortunate circumstance as soon as they become available.
