PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE DU PRESIDENT

Time flies when you’re having fun, and as I write my final report as President of Jersey Canada it has given me the opportunity to reflect on the past 29 years that I have been actively involved in the Jersey breed, and the many great friendships that I have had the opportunity to build over that period of time throughout the dairy industry.

Enclosed with this magazine is a copy of the 2020 Jersey Canada Annual Report and notice of our annual meeting which is being held virtually on Thursday April 1 2021. On behalf of the board of directors, I would invite all members to attend.

It is my pleasure to welcome Rebekah Mathers to the Jersey Canada Board of Directors. Rebekah is representing Western Canada and filling the position that had been held by Marc Dalton. My term on the board of directors has also come to an end and I am pleased to announce that Jon Kingdon will be replacing me on the board representing Ontario.

I would like to thank Rhonda Hulan who has resigned from the board of Jersey Canada for her time and commitment to the organization in representing the Maritime provinces. We all look forward to a new person to represent the Maritimes and to help continue to drive this organization and the breed forward. In closing I personally would like to thank the board members and staff of Jersey Canada for your support and friendship during my time on the board, but especially during this past year. The most important people that I would to say thank you to is my family for their support and patience during my time on the board.

On ne voit pas le temps passer quand on a du bon temps ! J’écris mon dernier message comme Président de Jersey Canada et ça me donne l’occasion de me remémorer les 29 dernières années où j’ai été activement engagé auprès de la race Jersey et toutes mes grandes amitiés que j’ai eu l’occasion de bâtir au cours de cette période au sein de l’industrie laitière.

Dans cette édition du revue, vous trouverez le rapport annuel 2020 de Jersey Canada et l’avis de notre assemblée annuelle qui se tiendra de façon virtuelle le jeudi 1e avril 2021. Au nom du Conseil d’administration, j’invite tous les membres à y prendre part. Il me fait plaisir de souhaiter la bienvenue à Rebekah Mathers au sein du conseil d’administration de Jersey Canada, représentant l’Ouest du Canada et reprenant le siège laissé vacant par Marc Dalton. Mon mandat au conseil d’administration prend fin et je suis fier d’annoncer que Jon Kingdon me remplacera au conseil d'administration, représentant l’Ontario.

J’aimerais remercier Rhonda Hulan, qui a démissionné du conseil d'administration de Jersey Canada, pour son temps et son dévouement envers Jersey Canada, représentant les provinces maritimes. Nous avons hâte d’avoir une nouvelle personne représentant cette région au conseil d’administration pour continuer à propulser cette organisation et la race vers l’avant.

En terminant, j’aimerais remercier personnellement les membres du conseil d’administration et le personnel de Jersey Canada pour leur support et leur amitié au cours de mon mandat au conseil d'administration, mais spécialement au cours de la dernière année. Les personnes les plus importantes à qui j’aimerais dire un gros merci sont les membres de ma famille pour leur support et leur patience au cours de mon mandat au conseil d'administration.
