A PROUD HISTORY AECL PRESIDENT & CEO On behalf of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL), welcome to Canada’s largest science and technology complex! The Chalk River Laboratories have served Canada through decades of nuclear innovation. As we celebrate AECL’s 70th anniversary, we are particularly proud of our achievements and enthused about our future. We foresee improved cancer therapy, new forms of emissions-free energy, and new applications to protect the environment and improve security and safety. We also foresee meaningful, beneficial relationships with Indigenous communities in the pursuit of reconciliation. AECL is grateful to the Algonquin Anishinabe Peoples on whose traditional land we gather today. Enjoy your visit! Fred Dermarkar, President and CEO Atomic Energy of Canada Limited
A BRAND NEW CNL CNL PRESIDENT & CEO On behalf of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, I want to offer you a very warm welcome to the 2022 Open House at Chalk River Laboratories here in the Ottawa Valley. It is not often that we get to open our doors to the public, and you are visiting the Chalk River campus at a particularly exciting time in its history. These past few years, CNL has been building the groundwork for a new era of scientific discovery at Chalk River Laboratories, focusing on what we do best as a research organization, enabled by a modern and revitalized national nuclear campus, and delivered by the very best and brightest scientists, engineers and technical professionals in Canada. So, we hope you will make the most of this rare opportunity to see Canada’s national nuclear laboratories up close. We encourage you to tour the new laboratories and research facilities, talk to our scientists and engineers, and get a better understanding of everything we do to improve the lives of Canadians. That means ask questions, get involved, and make the most of the opportunity! Thank you again for coming, and we hope you and your family have a fun, informative day exploring the Chalk River Laboratories. Joe McBrearty, President & CEO Canadian Nuclear Laboratories
