DIRECTOR – SUSTAINABILITY

SUSTAINABILITY 48

SUSTAINABILITY

WHAT DOES ACTION LOOK LIKE FOR CWG?

We have identified three focus areas for our Sustainability Strategy:

Tackling our emissions throughout our value chain, including our direct operations onsite and our indirect emissions through our supply chain, tenants and customers.

Support nature to develop places where people can live and work in harmony with nature.

Reducing waste throughout our operations and creating a circular economy where nothing is wasted, materials are kept in circulation at their highest level for as long as possible.

49
CLIMATE ACTION NATURE POSITIVE DRIVING CIRCULARITY

WHAT ARE OUR SCIENCE BASED TARGETS?

Science-based targets (SBTs) are a set of goals developed by a business to provide it with a clear route to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. An emissions reduction target is defined as ‘science-based’ if it is developed in line with the scale of reductions required to keep global warming below 2C from pre-industrial levels.

65% ABSOLUTE TARGET

Absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions reduction from  downstream leased assets by 2030 from a 2017 baseline

CANARY WHARF GROUP COMMITMENT

SUPPLIER ENGAGEMENT TARGET

60% of our suppliers covering purchased goods and services emissions, will have SBTs by 2025

HOW ARE WE DELIVERING AGAINST THESE TARGETS?

Improving operational performance of our buildings

– Reduce energy use intensity (EUI) in existing buildings through refurbishment and using design for performance standards in new developments

Supporting tenants in switching to renewable energy

– Engagement with tenants and support in switching to renewable electricity schemes such as Power Purchase Aggreements (PPAs)

Supply chain engagement

– Supporting our supply chain in setting their own Science Based Targets, through workshops and tools like the Supply Chain Sustainability School

GREEN SCHEME X CANARY WHARF

The Felix project was founded in 2016, we collect or receive food from over 539 suppliers, we rescue surplus food from across the food industry from farms to supermarkets and all manufacturing in between. This is high-quality, nutritious food, including a high proportion of fresh fruit and vegetables, baked goods, salads, meat and fish.

We have grown from rescuing 6 million meals a year in 2019 to 30 million meals in 2022.
