BEYOND Disciplines LINDA NAZAR CANADA RESEARCH CHAIR IN SOLID STATE ENERGY MATERIALS PROFESSOR OF CHEMISTRY, FACULTY OF SCIENCE

There is no single solution to sustainably power our world – that’s why we’re working on so many.

Our researchers build bridges between disciplines, rethinking how we solve some of the greatest challenges of the 21st century – including better ways to generate, store and dispatch renewable energy. University of Waterloo chemist and Canada Research Chair Linda Nazar and her team have developed technology that may one day replace costly lithium-ion batteries to store electrochemical energy. Her globally cited research and discoveries led to her being named an Officer of the Order of Canada. By redefining sustainable transportation and making energy accessible to everyone, Nazar and her fellow researchers at the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy and the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology prove that when we work beyond disciplines, our impact is beyond powerful.
