PROJECT SCOPE

Hollywood and Highland today is a well known tourist destination of Los Angeles. While it is a popular spot for those visiting Los Angeles, it is a place that many native Angelenos try to avoid. The client’s main goal was to transform the space into place that appeals to local resi dents. The outdoor space was originally decorated with archaic and xenophobic memorabilia, lacked in comfortable seating, and absent of a well designed courtyard space. In collaboration with Gensler, OJB Landscape Architecture, and more, I worked on creating floor plans and hand-drawn renderings for the new outdoor design of Ovation at Hollywood and Highland.
Hollywood isn’t a place, it’s a way of life
Hollywood has an extensive history that is showcased throughout the original outdoor courtyard space. The re-design was inspired by the aesthetics of old Hollywood films and events. This design acknowledges the history of Hollywood while creating a warm and inviting environment to match the modern, sophisticated LA lifestyle. The new Ovation at Hollywood and Highland is a place to hang out, view, and get of glimpse of what its like to be a local.
Located in between Chinatown and the Arts District, Blank Space is a co-working space to allow for collabo ration for all creatives that reside in neighboring studios, restaurants, and art galleries. The space was originally a large, vacant parking lot used as a gathering space for the creatives working in the surrounding area. This co-working space is a terraced building offering flexible indoor and outdoor spaces. The building has several key features including an indoor and outdoor auditorium, meeting rooms, cafe, gallery space and plenty of open work spaces. Welcome to Blank Canvas, let our space be your canvas.
The site for this design is located along the infamous Los Angeles river. While the LA river isn’t the most aesthetically appealing scenery, buildings along the river such as this co-working space is integral in activating the area. CLT or cross laminated timber is the key material used throughout this building. CLT is integral in creating sustainable buildings as it is lightweight, fire resistant, and great under seismic activities. By using CLT it alows for a clean minimal look and gives the indoor greenery a space to thrive. The minimalist design will allow for the empty walls to be utilized by the creatives while creating a calming ambiance with the greenery.
I had the unique opportunity to work on this 17,000 square foot hillside home from the early schematic designs all the way to the completion of the construction. I learned so much through the years working on this project, especially about interior design. The elegant architectural facade and layout needed to translate into the interior of the space. This property embodies lux ury with its 20 car garage, elevators, sauna, and self-sustaining garden so you never have to leave home.
This home is well known for its spectacular views from beaches all the way to downtown LA. The architecture of the home frames the amazing views that you see in every singe vantage point. While the design of each room is unique, panoramic views of Los Angeles is the primary inspiration behind each room. Each room showcases different qualities inspired from the view from the natural elements of the beach to the twinkling city lights of downtown LA. The design of this home embodies the idea of a luxury LA lifestyle.
This home built in the late 1930s by architect Gerard Colcord, showcases his signature country colonial style. The clients wanted to pay homage to the architects intended designs while upgrading the home to be sus tainable and showcasing the clients’ personalities. This project focused heavily on the fine details from the cus tom crown moldings, hardware, custom furniture and much more.
The architectural details of this home, including the beautiful gothic archways and the striking grand exposed beams all played an integral part of the inspiration in the interior design. The interior plays between traditional and contemporary motifs to feelings of elegance and warmth in each space. Every piece through out the home including the crown molding, metal mesh, hardware, and light fixtures were all custom made by my design team or sourced through vintage findings.
