Welcome to an ocean of flavours

SKOTHOLMEN Welcome

On an unique islet we provide for a characteristic experience. At Skotholmen the atmosphere is jovial and elegant, informal and professional. Welcome to an ocean of flavours

SKOTHOLMEN History

Through centuries Skotholmen has been all about fish and fishermen. Fishing store and country store, boat society and a haven for fishing.

From the middle of the 1600s the islet was a smallholding. In 1770 the islet is mentioned as a trade post and farmhand. Into the 1800s the trade was driven by the Rønneberg family. In 1847 they built the warehouse where you today find the restaurant Kami Skotholmen.

Christoffer M. Rønneberg (1832 - 1863)

1937 three Remøy brothers Adolf, Gerhard and Joakim Remøy purchased the islet. Their business was the salting of herring. The salt basins were used for hiding guns during the Second World War and Skotholmen was a stopover for the MTB named Vigra, used in the dramatic war crossings between Norway and England.

Albert Larsen Bakke (1865 - 1883) Olaf Evanger (1921 - 30s) Brørne Adolf, Gerhard and Joakim Remøy (1937 - 1996) Erling og Atle Remøy (1996 - 2009) Skotholmen AS (2009 -YTD)

Skotholmen is now ready for a new chapter, where fish and seafood remain the key ingredients in the recipe for creating further history.

SKOTHOLMEN Food

Kami Skotholmen is a seafood restaurant lapping against the waterline a stone’s throw away from Fosnavaag and a glance away from Aalesund.

We would like to welcome you to an islet full of good taste, with a kitchen that follows the season and the sunset. The kitchen finds the views from the ocean and the horizon as a living mural. This is the place where quality local food is harvested and made from the blue field. We have carefully selected wines from France, and offer our unique beverages to go with the food. We are able to set the table for around 100 guests in the boathouse where our kitchen and restaurant are both located. Or we may even serve you at the table in the slightly rougher smokehouse, with space for 24 people by the long table. The near 100-year-old concrete walls there provide for cooler and rougher menus. This is the place for breaking crab claws.

SKOTHOLMEN Adventures

Sometimes there’s simply a need for more than food. At Skotholmen we intend to provide a good food experience for birthdays and other days, confirmations and weddings, boat trips and surprise trips. Kami Skotholmen welcomes private individuals and company guests.

A 10-minute boat trip from Fosnavaag will take you to your own little island, your specific course, your unique conference. We will assist you with the custom-made and complete package. Furthermore, we have agreements with companies that deliver decoration services, provide photography, entertainment and anything else you may wish for, in order to meet and fulfill your unique celebration. If you wish to further experience the sea, we arrange for a high-powered RIB-boat experience, - or you can also enjoy the stylish Skreddaren, an open boat with a pointed fore and flat aft, at a slower pace, towards Runde bird island. And of course, why not join us in catching your own dinner straight from the ocean?
