SAVVY SENIORS TO GET TECHY
Thompsons Caring
Becoming tech-savvy will be a cinch for all when Council’s Age-Friendly Savvy Kiosks pop up throughout the Scenic Rim. Learn how to use a mobile device, download reading material or navigate websites with the help of staff who will explain in easy to understand terms. Mayor Greg Christensen said this was an excellent opportunity for seniors to enhance their digital literacy. “These Savvy Kiosks enable a supportive environment to teach our older community members more about their electronic devices, the internet and the numerous resources available to them,” he said. “It is important that Scenic Rim seniors are able to conduct more personal business online due to the ever-changing digital landscape of today’s society.” The Age-Friendly Savvy Kiosks will pop up from 9am to 1pm on the following days at these locations: • Harrisville School of Arts: Tuesday 7th May and 16th July; • Kalbar School of Arts: Wednesday 15th May and 24th July; • Kooralbyn Hall: Monday 27th May and 29th July; • Rathdowney Hall: Tuesday 4th June and 6th August; • Tamborine Village Hall: Thursday 20th June and 22nd August; • Beechmont Community Centre: Tuesday 25th June and 27th August. Each kiosk will also have information available from service organisations, health professionals and assistance programs. This Age-Friendly Scenic Rim project is funded by the Queensland Government.
