Canungra Remembers

Local ANZAC Day services attracted large crowds after the cancellation of events in 2020 due to COVID. This year we undoubtedly saw one of the biggest Dawn and Main Services in Canungra for many a year. Visitors from Brisbane, Gold Coast and local areas were in attendance.

Canungra RSL Sub Branch President, David Day said the Sub Branch is indebt-

ed to those members and local supporters for their help in organising the services.

“We are grateful to those businesses who supported the day via generous donations, the band and a local resident who made available a vintage restored Harley Davidson bike for display,” he said.

Loretta Mineo is certainly one of Canungra’s quiet achievers. She has spent many years doing charity sewing for families who have lost young children, for Wildcare during the bushfires and more recently sewing masks during COVID 19. A humble and giving person, Loretta starts the interview by saying, “I don’t think I’ll be very interesting”. How wrong she was.

The Angel Gowns you make are very unusual.

I am the only person I know of in Australia who makes burial clothes for children between birth and six years. I also make angel gowns for stillborn babies between 12 weeks and birth.

Recently I met with another funeral home and they were amazed that I don’t charge for my work.

I was initially making clothes for children who lost their life through abuse and neglect, because if you’ve been abused or neglected you generally don’t have a little outfit to be buried in.

We lose one to two children a week in Australia, the figures are similar to women’s deaths from domestic violence, but we don’t hear about it.

It’s one of the last taboos…

I also see many parents who lose children due to accident and disease and I couldn’t deny any parent who needs an outfit, I’m available 24

hours a day.

I want to keep it local, Gold Coast and Brisbane. I think it is important to be available for these things - time matters. I’ve been a regional coordinator for another Angel Gowns group. I’ve been in the hospitals, worked with the nursing staff, I can see the good it does.

How did you start?

Working with abused children has always been close to my heart.

I was volunteering at Tamborine Mountain College in the Uniform Shop for seven years while my children went to school there. When I left, I wasn’t sure what to do with myself. I don’t like doing nothing (that’s a fate worse than death) and I don’t like doing things for me… there’s no reward in that.

There was a need, so I just stepped into it. I can sew.

Now I have my own charity, Purple Hearts of Love. I have never charged for my charity work in over 20 years.

I never will. It is a privilege to do the work.

At the moment I need a new sewing machine.

Both my sewing machines blew up during the bushfires when I was sewing pouches for wildlife.

With the delicate fabrics I use, I need a specific machine, otherwise it’s kind of like fixing your mobile phone with a big screwdriver - it’s just not going to work, you need the right tool for the right job.

How are you able to keep doing this now?

I’ve got a very old dinosaur, I call it the fabric muncher. Once the needle comes down it pulls the fabric in and chews it up (laughs), it is a painful process. Shona has a little tin in The Hub taking donations for a new machine. My last machine lasted 25 years; I hope the new machine will last me another 25 years of charity sewing.

Is it quite emotional doing this kind of work?

I’ve been working in the child abuse sector,

Loretta Mineo on and off, since I was 17. I came out of high school, did a childcare course and saw so much abuse that was being ignored by both the childcare centres and Departments. All the abusers had to do was say they would get help and the children stayed in the same situation.

It got to the point that I couldn’t work in there anymore. I took a break and went into electronics.

I always wanted to get back working with abused children, but with Roddie being so unwell, it’s better for me to do the work I’m doing now.

You make the angel gowns from wedding dresses?

Angel gowns have given people a way of making a difference. Giving up your wedding dress from the happiest day of your life to support a woman who is having the worst day of her life is such a beautiful thing to do.

A lot of people find it hard to talk about.

It’s emotional for me.

Some friends asked me when I was younger how I deal with working with this. Whether I’m there or not, these precious children are still going through this, I would rather be there and be a voice for them, than turn my back because I can’t deal with it.

Every child deserves to be safe and loved.

Scenic Rim Eat Local Week is Back

Canungra farmers are rejoicing about the return of annual food festival, Scenic Rim Eat Local Week.

There are more than 125 events across the Scenic Rim throughout 2021 Eat Local Week, which makes its postCovid comeback from 26 June to 4 July.

On 26 and 27 June, Canungra Visitor Information Centre will share their Tasting Tables.

On 27 June there’ll be the Longest Lunch at O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyard, Canungra Beer, Food and Wine Festival at Moriarty Park and Picnic in the Petals and Walk an Alpaca at Pretty Produce and Mountview Alpaca Farm.

Club Canungra held their first event on ANZAC Day, catering for 300 people for the Gunfire Breakfast and lunch at the Canungra School of Arts Hall.

Vice President, Louis Jones, said they are looking forward to hosting more events in the future.

“We would like to thank the volunteers who helped on the day and in the lead up, especially Karen McGuiness and Kara O’Toole,” he said.

“We had great support from local businesses, including FoodWorks, the Hub Café, Pit Stop Nerang and Eagle Eye Signs.”

Op Shop Renovations

LOCAL NEWS Canungra Op Shop carried out major renovations in April, with volunteers helping to paint and renovate the front of the shop.

Op Shop Manager, Caroline Andrew said she had been hoping for some time to replace the carpet and when the shop was emptied out it made sense to give it a whole new look.

The Op Shop has continued to open throughout the renovations, operating from the two back sheds. Caroline thanked all the volunteers involved and said she is excited about reopening in the shop with a new look, making the fashion retail side of the community organisation much more appealing to customers.

Chamber Dinner Supports Wildcare

Over $1,000 was raised for local wildlife carers at a fundraising dinner held at Canungra Bowls Club on Friday 16 April.

Phil Chadwick, an executive member of the Canungra Chamber of Commerce and owner of Canungra Auto Clinic, organised the fundraiser on behalf of the Chamber.

The event was well attended and during the evening, Bren Dalby gave an excellent presentation on her volunteer work with Wildcare, caring for and saving injured animals.

Chamber President, Monique Morcus said Bren’s speech was inspiring, with moments of humour and sadness.

Shortly after Bren’s presentation, a raffle to support Wildlife carers with their ongoing work was held.

had such an effect on those in attendance when the raffle proceeds were finally counted, the sum of over $1,000 was the result.

Monique said she hoped this would be the first of many such evenings for the Chamber, who have been actively working with Council to relieve some of the parking problems in the town.

“We are also excited that the new “P” signs have been installed at the Canungra School of Arts Hall and Lions Park to hopefully assist with parking,” she said.

“We do encourage business owners and their staff to park at these locations if possible to allow the street parking for customers and visitors.”

“Both parking areas are a short stroll to all businesses and parks in town.”

Six of Zanzibar Hairstyling’s customers became models for a day when the salon had their annual photo shoot.

Salon owner, Di Robson said the photo shoot gave her team the opportunity to experiment with different styles, colours and techniques.

“We wanted to showcase a variety of hairstyles and allow our team to be free to demonstrate their own interpretation of the latest trends and styles,” she said.

The models included brother and sister Millie and Jack Bryant, who are long term clients of Di’s, as well as Zanzibar’s stylist Danni’s brother Anthony. Local make up artist Lucinda Curtis did the models’ make up.

Council received approximately $800,000 dollars in state funding from the QRA after ex tropical cyclone Oswald in 2013 to upgrade all ten causeways on Sarabah Road. This work was carried out in 2015 on causeways one to eight (causeway eight is on the section of road in dispute).

After ex tropical cyclone Debbie in 2017, Council received further funding to upgrade the approach to causeways nine and ten, both of which are on the section of road in dispute.

Mr Moriarty says many of the creek crossings are blocked, causing water to run over the crossings even when there has been little rain.

Mr Moriarty said he suggested the road become a private road, however Council refused this suggestion, stating the unconstructed section of Sarabah Road lies within the vicinity of a gazetted road reserve.

A Story of Community

When author Ben Allmon and photographer Carin Garland set out to explore the history of Scenic Rim roads on foot, they had no idea they would be travelling through at a time when the worst bushfires in living memory were raging.

Ben’s plan to traverse 700 kilometres of roads in order to meet the people and collect the stories of the Scenic Rim has been perfectly captured in The Black and White Braid.

The two volume book was launched as part of the Artists’ Journey Exhibition at The Centre, Beaudesert last month which runs until mid May. Carin’s photographs perfectly capture the characters of the area and emotion of the landscape at a time when the parched earth was burning underfoot.

Ben and Carin begin their journey on Tamborine Mountain, where they both live, and continue throughout the Scenic Rim, weaving the story of each area from Beechmont and Canungra through to the Western side of the region.

Ben says he wanted it to be more than just a boring history book, full

of facts. To tell the stories of the areas, he has different characters, all real members of the Scenic Rim community, appear as ghost figures, walking beside him and Carin as they move through each area.

It is a technique that works very well and provides a historical and personal reflection of the history of the area, as well as giving insight into the character of each part of the Scenic Rim. The Artists’ Journey Exhibition is currently open at The Centre Beaudesert until mid-May. It showcases four local artists - Ben Allmon and Carin Garland who walked the roads of our region recording local stories of people and place; JeanJacques Vaschalde, a master potter and craftsman; and Felix Cehak, a spectacular filmmaker.

Local artist, Dave Groom has been named as a finalist in the inaugural Lethbridge Landscape Prize.

Dave’s oil on canvas work Waterfalls Late Summer, was selected as one of 84 finalists from 800 entries that were received for the prize.

Dave’s contemporary landscapes are concerned with the mountains and valleys on Beechmont where he lives and works.

“I believe the best way to capture the essence of the landscape is to live in it. This enables me to observe the constantly changing forms, colours, textures and light at different times of day and to watch the processes of nature.”

“My work is a personal journey of observing our natural landscape.”

An exhibition of entries is held at Lethbridge Gallery, 136 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington and Latrobe Art Space, 134 Latrobe Terrace, Pad-

dington from 29 April to 9 May 2021.

Simone from Lethbridge Gallery said there was a tremendous response to the prize.

“With a $20,000 first prize, the award was open to all forms of 2D and 3D artwork including, but not limited to, all paint mediums, drawings, digital works, works on paper, sculpture and installation,” she said.

“Landscape is conventionally defined as an area of natural scenery.”

For the prize, Lethbridge Gallery extended the definition to include urban-scapes, cityscapes, seascapes and interiors.

The prize invited traditional, innovative and unconventional interpretations of Australian landscape.

The winner of the Lethbridge Landscape prize was Karl De Wall for The Land of the Sausage Sizzle.

Regeneration Through Artwork

The Regeneration Mural project kicked off in April when All City Walls hosted a workshop for artists at the Old School Site.

The workshop trained artists to create murals across Beechmont over the coming months. Participants created a practice mural which is now on display at the Old School site.

More workshops will be held on 22 and 23 May when community members can paint steel cut butterflies to be added to the Beechmont Butterfly trail mural, create community quilt blocks, and be part of mural design with Kim Walmsley.

Canungra’s History Canungra has been a tourist town since 1916.

Lahey’s sawmill had been working since 1884 and Canungra was run as a ‘company town’. Laheys had built Leighton House on the north side of Pine Road as accommodation for workers and the occasional visitor.

On 1 May 1916 the Lahey Company held an auction of 107 allotments (30 with comfortable cottages) thus opening up the town for settlement by the general public.

Laheys built a two storied guest house (on the site of the current Canungra Hotel) and named it Bellissima which was the name of the ship the Lahey family had travelled on when they migrated to Australia.

The letterhead for Bel-

lissima included the following information: Beautiful Situation, Commodious, Well Ventilated Rooms, Electric Light Throughout, Tennis Court, Motor Garages, Modern Sanitation, Wood Fires in Winter, Cool in Summer.

In 1915 the railway line had been extended from Logan Village to Canungra to service the timber industry.

This meant that train travel was available for the public and at times special trains were organised just for tourist travel.

In 1927, the Lahey Company gave Bellissima to David Lahey who sold it to Bernie Conaghan.

Bernie quickly converted it into Canungra’s first Hotel, adding an extension to the house

A smaller version of Bellissima was built on the site which is now

Canungra Hotel.

This has, of course, had extensions and upgrades over the years, including a large function area that was added

to the Hotel in 2014.

The Canungra Motel was built in 1978 thus expanding the available tourist accommodation in Canungra.

Artists’ Journey This spectacular exhibition is currently open at The Centre Beaudesert and will run until midMay. It showcases four local artists - Ben Allmon and Carin Garland who walked the roads of our region recording local stories of people and place; Jean-Jacques Vaschalde, a master potter and craftsman; and Felix Cehak, a spectacular filmmaker.

This is a must see exhibition. The two books written by Ben and Carin make interesting reading and are keepsakes of our region. I believe the books will be on sale in Canungra in the coming weeks.

Christie Street I know the shop owners along Christie St will be relieved to hear that a contractor has now been approved to conduct regular mowing of the nature strip. The town centre has become so busy from such an early hour, which makes a safety risk to mow after 6am as vehi-

Men’s Shed Congratulations to Colin Ford and his committee who took the initiative to set up a Men’s Shed in town. They have now achieved incorporation as an organisation and have both a meeting venue and a place to ‘call their own’ as they continue to grow. These are my own personal views. I do not purport to speak on behalf of Council.

Council In my last column I spoke about the need for the Councillors to work with the Mayor to ensure we have a cohesive and functional Council.

That also goes the other way as well, with the Mayor needing to work with the Councillors who are elected by each division.

The Council is a democracy where each Councillor is given one vote and a majority is needed to pass any motion. If the Mayor is to achieve his vision, then he requires the support of a majority of Councillors.

We as Councillors are not there to just rubber stamp the working of Council but to check and make sure it is in the best inter-

ests of the wider community.

Obviously, we will always have to pass motions that some in the community will not like, but we must look at the long-term strategic view.

The Scenic Rim is a growing region, and we are expecting another 10,000 new houses over the next 20 years.

The State Government has required that Council have a Growth Management Strategy to facilitate this increase and the community consultation has just closed. I wish to thank all those who submitted their suggestions.

Upcoming Budget Over the next few months, the Council will be working on the

FY21/22 Budget.

Beaudesert Revitalisation The first stage of the $8.4m Beaudesert revitalisation has been approved and with a massive grant funding boost by the Federal and State governments of $7.9m, this leaves ratepayers with only $450,000

which is a great deal.

The Council have opened a pop-up shop across from the Council building in Beaudesert for those who would like more detail on the project.

The second stage will be the Beaudesert Community Hub and Library which will be a huge boost not only for Beaudesert but for the Region.

Council will again be requesting funding support from the State and Federal governments for this stage of the project.

Tamborine Memorial Hall It was great to see the hall granted $53,000 in state funding for some much-needed upgrades which include a full roof paint, interior painting, new LED lighting (reducing the power bills) and moving underground some powerlines.

Garlic Fresh healthy produce is continuing to get more expensive. I have noticed how much garlic has risen recently and it is not that difficult to grow.

Have a go at planting out garlic this season, you still have time. We plant out our garlic between late March right through to May. You can plant later but those months are the ideal.

Try to source locally from one of garden centres or nurseries if possible, but if not look online.

We grow Purple Garlic and some Giant Russian where we are in Kerry and they do extra well in our climate.

If you start with a full garlic bunch, just break

them up into cloves leaving the skin on but removing any of the dead flaky peel.

We plant ours about 15 centimetres apart, as you can see in the photo.

These were planted midMarch. You plant the fatter end to the bottom (make a bit of a hole) and the skinny end to the top.

You plant just below the surface.

Garlic doesn’t need as much water as other vegetables but we water quite well until established and reduce the watering as they mature.

They will be ready to harvest after four or five months but you can and will get some variance.

The best guide to knowing when ready to harvest is the size and the green

Garlic growing well at Tullamore Farm. stalks / leaves will start to discolour and die back.

You can harvest one plant at a time and you will quickly get the feel for when they are ready.

In earlier years we dried our garlic and then

stored them in our cellar.

In recent years, after some research, we now break into the individual cloves, leaving the peel on.

We just store in a suitable container in our

freezer and grab a clove or two when needed.

A clove defrosts quickly and the skin comes off very easily. The cloves keep a very long time in the freezer.

WHAT IS DRY NEEDLING? Dry needling is a technique which has been adopted in recent decades by physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists and other healthcare professionals.

NATURE’S GEMS Turquoise Parrot (Neophema pulchella)

By Melissa Whitby The Turquoise Parrot is an extremely beautiful bird which captivated me when I first saw it but I had no camera to take photos.

Finding Turquoise Parrots can be hit and miss but I eventually managed to get some decent photos. Turquoise Parrots are relatively easy to identify if they sit still. The male has a vivid turquoise facemask, yellow underbelly and scarlet-red wing patch.

Female birds have some blue on the forehead, green breast and have no red wing patch. They are small parrots and are usually seen in pairs.

The range of Turquoise

Parrots extends from southern Queensland through New South Wales to parts of Victoria. These birds can be uncommon through their range, however, in some areas can be seen relatively well.

Turquoise Parrots favour a number of habitats including forested country with open grassy areas, heath and pastures/ roadsides.

When observing them, it is best to move quietly. I have watched birds walking along open ground and feeding in grasses for long periods. If the birds feel pushed, they will usually fly ahead and land again or fly into nearby trees.

One of the best ways to find this parrot species is to know their calls. All

Neophema genus parrots have distinctive sweet tinkling calls, which give away their presence. In southern Queensland, there is no other species of parrot that is similar in looks to the Turquoise Parrots.

The best place to look for this beautiful bird in southern Queensland is in the Girraween National Park. Visiting in September or October is a good time and has the added bonus of seeing the wildflowers in full bloom.

Knowing the call of this bird is vital to locating its presence in thick habitat.

These beautiful parrots are well worth putting in the effort to see. They are truly breathtaking and after all these years, I still get an amazing thrill observing them in the wild.

Giant Panda Snail Hedleyella falconeri

The eyes on the end of the stalks of this Giant Panda Snail seem to be examining the photographer. The recent rain in our district brought out some slimy creatures, giant snails from the rainforests and gigantic earthworms from deep in their burrows. This is Australia’s largest land snail, the shell of which may reach nine centimetres. This species of snail is common in the rainforests around our Hinterland.

They are nocturnal and often seen at night after rain when they are out feeding on fungi and occasionally scavenging on dead animals. They spend their days under rotting logs or covered in leaf litter at the base of rainforest trees.

They are known to live for about five years and are eaten by scrub turkeys, lyre birds, feral pigs and Pitta birds. Pitta birds are known for the collection of shells around their ‘anvil’ rocks used to smash open the hard shell.

Snails are a variety of mollusc with two body parts, the shell and the foot. The shell is a refuge during dry periods as well as a hiding place. The foot is soft and fleshy containing all of their organs.

This snail has four tentacles, the longer pair are tipped by a pair of eyes and the shorter pair the feelers. Most intriguingly, these snails are hermaphroditic, needing only to meet another snail and exchange sperm for each other’s eggs, in order to reproduce.

They then ‘dig’ a shallow hole, lay 20 to 30 giant eggs, 18 millimetres in length and two grams in weight. These hatch three to six weeks later as one to two centimetre baby snails.

These snails are found in Gondwana rainforests from Barrington Tops NSW to Gympie North of Brisbane.

The snail was first named in Australia in 1860, the choice of ‘panda’ is not descriptive but generally believed to have been an early misnomer.

Rodeo Set to Sell Out The 2021 Canungra Hotel Rodeo is set to sell out with almost half the allocated tickets sold within two weeks.

Tickets went on sale on 20th April and Marketing Manager Lee McKenzie-McKinnon said locals are urged to buy their tickets quickly if they are going to attend.

“The Rodeo will be held on Saturday 10 July this year but due to concerns around COVID numbers are very limited,” he said.

“The Committee feels it is important to hold the event for the local community, as well as for the rodeo competitors. Last year many of the rodeos were cancelled due to COVID so we have decided to go ahead with a full points rodeo.”

“This means we will be holding all of the great rodeo competitions from saddle bronc and bull ride through to barrel racing.

As has been the case in previous years, all nominations for competitors are to be made through the National Rodeo Association.”

What a wonderful time this is, beautiful Autumn weather and occasions to gather together.

ANZAC Day has just been, and it was truly encouraging to see the involvement of so many ADF members, school children and the community in general.

This ANZAC day St Luke’s Guild handed out homemade Anzac Biscuits to the crowd gathered in D J Smith Park for the march and service, and these were very well received.

Mother’s Day will be celebrated this month and is a time to recognize the value of women in our lives. We all have motherly instincts to help nurture and care for our society. Consider some of the women in the Bible, Mary and Martha who were very important during the death and rising again of Jesus. Women are vital in our society. May all ladies feel valued and loved on Mother’s Day. The popularity of our Monday after school “Little Lukies” group is growing each week. Jan Armstrong who is the organiser, would appreciate some extra help, especially for the older children from grades five and six. If you would like to lend a hand each Monday afternoon (term time) you would be most welcome.

ADOPTION OF A MINOR AMENDMENT

Notice is given that on 23 March 2021, Scenic Rim Regional Council adopted an Administrative Amendment to the Scenic Rim Planning Scheme 2020 (Planning Scheme).

The Administrative Amendment is made in accordance with Chapter 2, Part 1 of the Minister’s Guidelines and Rules (Version 1.1) made under the Planning Act 2016 and prescribed in the Planning Regulation 2017.

The purpose of the Administrative Amendment is to correct or change matters that have been identified through the implementation of the Planning Scheme and include: a) an explanatory matter about the Planning Scheme; b) the format or presentation of the Planning Scheme; c) a spelling or grammatical error in the planning scheme that does not materially affect the remainder of the Planning Scheme; d) a factual matter incorrectly stated in the Planning Scheme; e) a redundant or out-dated term in the Planning Scheme; f) inconsistent numbering of provisions in the Planning Scheme; or g) cross-references in the Planning Scheme.

Moriarty Park News Our hall and grounds are being utilised in so many ways now which is why it was generously donated to Scenic Rim Regional Council by Dick and Pam Moriarty so many years ago to be used by the community for the community in particularly for sports and recreation.

This is wonderful to see and the committee are working hard to make the facility even more of a place to go!

The Book a Court system has been installed and will be up and running probably by the time you are reading this, whereby you can go on line to book a court to play tennis and pay on line.

Social tennis is available within a little group of locals always looking for more players of any ability.

Soon we will have a notice board up by the main door upstairs to let everyone know what’s happening and when.

We fairly regularly hold trivia nights as fundraisers for all manner of valuable causes and now and again a Bingo night.

This is a fun cheap night out as you can bring your own drinks and nibblies (there may be some refreshments available on the night also) and always wrapped up around nine-ish.

Sports group will be holding an event in the evening to which you are welcome to come along and spectate.

I hope it would be obvious that no dogs are permitted at this event however!

Respect is also expected from others who are walking dogs and not spectating to keep clear of the park to allow the competing dogs to work to the best of their ability with no canine distraction. This will be appreciated by all greatly.

travelled to Tally Valley on Monday 21 April to compete in the 1st Round of the Chix with Sticks Competition between Boomerang Farm, Tallebudgera (Coplicks), Tally Valley and Canungra. Congratulations to Tallebudgera who won the 1st round. We look forward to the next round at Tallebudgera in June.

Canungra Owls Soccer News

By Bren Dalby Our Wednesday night men’s games are becoming popular with steak burgers, curries etc available from the canteen and a crowd is beginning to form to encourage our team.

They are playing very well and are great to watch so get yourselves down!

The Men’s Metro League has been graded to incorporate a Division Three so we are waiting for the new draw to come out to let you know when to come but keep an eye out and we will endeavour to put notifications up at Foodworks, on Facebook and hopefully soon on our very own notice board at Moriarty Park.

We had nine teams playing at home for the

first Junior weekend of the season which was great to see and be part of.

After the numbers last year it is so good to have 11 teams playing this year, and all playing well, and hoping to have more next year.

Friday nights will see our Under 15s playing so another opportunity to have dinner cooked for you and support our youth.

We want to recreate a super club culture again after this, to a degree, fell by the wayside with COVID so try to come along and help us!

We wish to thank Scenic Rim Regional Council for funding through their Smarty Grant program, a new fridge for the canteen; this was very much needed and we are very grateful.

Stephanie Competes Naturally Local Personal Trainer, Stephanie Eriksen has qualified for the Australian ICN (I Compete Naturally) Body Building Championships to be held on the Gold Coast in October.

Stephanie competed in the 2021 ICN All Female Brisbane Classic on 16th May and was delighted to qualify for the Australian Championships in her first competition.

She competed in two classes in the body sculpting competition - Bikini and Sports Model. The body sculpting judging criteria are slightly different for each class and Stephanie says this is where her knowledge of poses came in to play.

“I trained for both classes and was slightly too lean for the bikini class but was able to compensate through my poses,” she said.

“In the Sports Model class I was able to go with harder, more defined poses.”

Stephanie was working with

horses as an eventing groom until COVID hit last year. She decided she needed more balance in her life after working six or seven days a week travelling and decided to follow her interest in personal training.

“I started studying and then began working at Live Fit Gym in September 2020.”

“I’ve always enjoyed working out at the gym and it has been very rewarding to see clients progressing as I train them.”

Stephanie said she is grateful to the Live Fit Gym team for their support.

“Steve, Kym and the team and the Live Fit Gym members who trained with me were great.”

“It is an intricate process, building muscle and dieting the way you do. Having the support of my coach, Courtney McConnell and Live Fit Gym has made a huge difference.”

Stephanie will compete at the ICN Australian Championships at Star Casino in October.
