POWER LINES No estoy seguro de cuándo ocurrió exactamente. Quiero decir, nunca fui de ese tipo de gente que cree que las bicis eléctricas son lo peor. En todo caso, si alguna vez me molestaba en pensar en ellas, pensaba que el hecho de ser capaces de rescatar a la gente de las garras de sus pantallas brillantes y llevarlas a la emoción de los senderos y la belleza de los bosques es un punto a su favor. Aún así, en mi opinión las bicis eléctricas eran para otras personas. No me preguntes qué significa eso, sencillamente sabía que no eran para mí (o eso pensaba). Desde que me quitaron los ruedines, he vivido toda mi vida sobre dos ruedas, y siempre me he exigido el máximo, física y mentalmente, viendo de lo que soy capaz, lo rápido o lo lejos que puedo ir. Tener un motor nunca entró en mis planes. Además, las E-MTB que había montado antes eran divertidas... pero no tan divertidas al mismo tiempo. Sí, tener toda esa potencia estaba bastante bien, pero en cuanto pasó la novedad, pues bueno, digamos que no era montar de verdad. Era divertido como puede serlo atar una Briggs & Stratton de 2 tiempos a un carrito de la compra: mucha velocidad, pero control... no tanto.

Sin embargo en algún lugar a lo largo de este camino, en algún lugar a lo largo de esta sinuosa y monstruosa pista en la que estamos probando esta nueva bici, dejé de pensar en la potencia, en el manejo, en el centro de gravedad bajo y en todas las demás cosas de las que me hablaban los ingenieros. Dejé de ser consciente de la extraña sensación de tener que frenar en las curvas ascendentes. Dejé de pensar en el hecho de que llevaba una e-bike. Dejé de pensar, punto. Era simplemente ciclismo. Puro ciclismo. Carrera pura. Acción constante. A todo gas. Cada recta, cada esquina, enfoque puro. Solo respirar y mantener el pulso. Cuesta arriba, cuesta abajo, diluido en una subida continua, centrado en la siguiente parte, después en la siguiente y en la otra. Sin parar. Creo que me gusta...
