The opening panel will set the scene by looking at the benefits of separating regulation from service provision.

This session will learn from the experiences of different CAAs and ANSPs that have separated service provision from regulation and those that have not separated. We will learn about funding mechanisms, governance structures and the extent of autonomy.

CANSO Africa Conference Dinner

This session looks at matching equipage with the Aviation System Block Upgrades (ASBU).

We will look at how sovereignty is compatible with the delivery of cross border service provision; the session will also review the State’s obligations under the Chicago Convention, and at how efficient performance can be ensured.

Different players in the aviation industry will present us with their views of how CDM is currently managed in their environment and what needs to be done to improve collaboration across all parts of the aviation industry in Africa.

Implementation of Safety Management Systems in Africa

This session will focus on ensuring an understanding of the CANSO Standard of Excellence and its benefits. It will also hear how one ANSP implemented SMS; and a workshop will help Members prioritise actions in line with both the CANSO Standard of Excellence and ICAO Annex 19: Safety.
