Industrial design 2013-17

hello!

I’m cansu tuzcu.

Design is not just a job, it is a life choice. It is capturing the details that other people do not notice. The most satisfying aspect is that product touches people's lives. I consider myself as a passionate, responsible and funny person / team player. Outside of work; I like to cook, spent time with my dog and make handmade stuffs.

It offers a set of equipment that is easy to use during rough natural disaster.

Brief Turmoil is the inevitable result of disasters. People face constant fear, danger, death, hunger and sickness; they strive to continue their lives in search of new normalcies in unsettling, unhomely and unfriendly environments. But unfortunately, disaster is always possible and irrepressible. The aim of project is to analyze the post-disaster conditions and look for the opportunities that design can alleviate turmoil conditions.

Benetton represents independence, friendliness, simplicity, feeling of being natural and especially sense of colours.

Concept

clothes for humans Benetton's design spirit is on this motto; 'clothes for human'. They are saying that; we are designing what you wear on before you go out from home, not clothes on the exaggerated podium. So, the keywords are natural and real.

Pharus Multi-tool for Scuba-diving OVERVIEW It’s a multi-tool that integrate different diving tools that are important to carry during diving in one product.

Brief Tools are objects that are used by hand(s) to help to user, they help where the anatomy and physiology of the user fails to complete the task. A recent trend is combining different tools for similar tasks under one product. This project required to design a multi-tool for a designated professional with specific task descriptions. (DIVING)

The divers need to take some small but important tools for safety with them during the diving. After the meeting with professional diver, i decided tools which are available to integrate in one tool. These are; torch, oring, shaker and buoy (surface marker).

Research Underwater torches can be vital, especially when deep diving or cave diving. As you get further below the water’s surface you’re surroundings become dark due to the depth you are at.

TORCH

An O-ring is a doughnut shaped seal typically used to prevent the passing of air or fluid. O-rings prevent leaks at the seams of scuba gear and are a vital part of your life support equipment while diving.

O-RING

This handheld underwater signaling device is sure to get your dive buddy's attention. Give it a good shake and its loud rattling sound will turn heads. A magnetic stopper on the end keeps the shaker from rattling when you want to keep quiet.

SHAKER

A surface marker buoy, SMB or simply a blob is a buoy used by scuba divers, with a line, to indicate the diver's position to their surface safety boat while the diver is underwater.

SMB

(Surface Marker Buoy)

Process

Form studies were carried out to be combined these 4 product functions without losing anything from their efficiency. The sketches were supported by model experiments and hand tool ergonomics were checked.

Storyboard

When you have a problem with your o-ring that is damaged, change it with new one that you have in your Pharus! When you do night or cave diving, your eyes can fail and need a light. It’s crucial for safety but you have also torch in your Pharus! You had with an unexpected situation during diving and want to get your buddy’s attention, you just shake your Pharus! Then; your diving is ok, you get out your SMB from your Pharus and blow a little air from your alternate air source to fill the buoy with air. So, it marks your location to surface!

Final prototype

Production process

On the left side, there are photos showing the product's different angles and grabbing it with hand. On the right page, it is explained why Pharus was designed in this form and how it serves to 4 product’s function.

Torch area and its button have a yellow color because of serving same function on multi-tool. Button is located to reach easily when you grab it.

TORCH

There is a area to put your o-rings. It is available for all o-ring sizes that using at diving tubes. It has needle of its cap. So, o-ring can fixed on tube easily.

O-RING

It is underwater noisemaker to use at emergency situations or grab your buddy’s attention. Because of that it’s red color. Also, if you want to shake it underwater, there is a silicon surface to grab it better on your hand. It’s red color too to reference same function.

SHAKER

There is a canal to put smb. It has a reel for thread of buoy on its cap.
