We are committed to working with our students to build a more sustainable future.
If, like us, you care about the environment, you’ll be able to get involved with ‘Us in the World’: a collaboration between our students, staff and the Students’ Union, working together to embed the UN Sustainable Development
Goals (SDG) into everything we do. We were one of the first UK universities to sign the SDG Accord and in the spring of 2019 Christ Church joined other universities, cities and the government in the declaration of a Climate Emergency.
These are just a few of the thing we’ve achieved together so far. We’ve: • reduced our electricity and gas consumption by 24% since 2010 • been a 0% waste to landfill University since January 2013, working hard to promote reusable alternatives to single-use plastics • reduced use of disposable cups by 60% across all sites • won an International Green Gown Award for our work in ‘Institutional Change’ on sustainability.
If you’re passionate about ensuring a sustainable future, there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved through our Student Green Office.

Sustainability is as much about social issues as it is about the environment. I’m proud and excited to be working with the Student Green Office, because not only will I spread awareness and hopefully inspire others, but most importantly I will keep on educating myself.
