The Spirit of Canterbury A Culture of Giving & Getting Involved

Our Mission The Canterbury School is dedicated to academic excellence within a caring and supportive community emphasizing character, leadership and service.

Welcome!

Tony Paulus, Head of School

We are more eager than ever to begin the 2013-14 school year and excited to have you as part of the Canterbury family. Canterbury is unique, holding a rich tradition of giving and getting involved – in fact it’s been a founding hallmark for nearly 50 years. We are a community that shares common values and beliefs. We hold true to a mission that places academic excellence at the pinnacle of our work; developing students of strong character, who are leaders and hold a strong commitment to service. Educating a child requires more than a great faculty and curriculum – it requires active and generous parental involvement. Canterbury relies on the philanthropic support and involvement of our entire community – including trustees, parents, alumni, faculty and staff, grandparents and alumni parents. Through coordinated fund-raising efforts and special events, there is a wide variety of meaningful ways to become involved. Canterbury’s culture of giving and getting involved drives our mission. It is a remarkable partnership of financial support, participation, and involvement. So, I invite you to take a look at the opportunities that await, and find ways to connect to the mission and vision of Canterbury. Here’s an opportunity for passion and purpose to come together! Warmly, Tony Paulus Head of School

The success of these events relies heavily on volunteers and communitywide participation. Marathon – A tradition of caring! Marathon engages the entire student body in a fun event that raises funds to support our local community. Each year, local charities are chosen as beneficiaries of the funds raised. Parents, grandparents and friends come on campus to enjoy this special day. Extravaganza – One of the school’s longest standing traditions, this annual evening brings food, friendship and festivities to new heights. A beautifully themed evening is prepared, complete with exceptional food and drinks, live and silent auctions and entertainment. This evening raises funds to support the mission and programs of Canterbury School. Don’t miss it! Field Day – In spring 2014, Field Day will encompass campus wide competitions – both in the classroom and on the fields. A day dedicated to celebrating the spirit of Canterbury! Capital & Endowed Gifts to Canterbury support new construction, facilities, major renovations, student scholarships, faculty endowments, and bold programmatic initiatives. Such projects improve the campus environment and permit Canterbury to continue offering programs that meet the changing demands of our global community. Capital and Endowed Gifts may also lead to recognition opportunities that honor or memorialize a person of the donor’s choosing. Estate Planning provides an opportunity for donors to support Canterbury through deferred gifts such as trusts, charitable gift annuities, insurance policies, and bequests. Most planned gifts produce tax savings for the donor while being extremely beneficial to Canterbury. Funds generated from these gifts, large and small, help shape Canterbury’s academic programs, support outstanding faculty, and enable talented and motivated students the opportunity of a Canterbury experience.
