This year we have had a number of events showcasing the talent and hard work of the students studying at the Canterbury School of Visual Arts at Canterbury College. These included the bi-annual John Millest Art exhibition that featured work from both staff and students and raised valuable funds for the Trust. In January we held our first MARS Awards which invited submissions inspired by the subjects Maths, Art, Religion and Science. Our students across the school responded creatively to an open brief with work that explored the themes of the MARS exhibition and independenty.

UAL Photography Level 3 students take part in a live project, working with Canterbury Cathedral, documenting behind the scenes and showing the highly skilled people who keep the landmark maintained.

Our students collaborated with highly talented Street artist, Greg Stobb from Squirl-art to create a street mural for Love Lane, Canterbury. Many thanks to Canterbury City Council and Squirl-art for the opportunity and support.

The MARS Award winning artist Kacey Unsworth, received a prize of an iPad Mini (UAL Level 2 Art & Design)

Students from the UAL Graphic Design & Illustration course travelled to London Borough Market for their recent Book project. This trip opened their eyes to the work behind the market and its efforts to be a sustainable organisation. Their resulting book designs were celebrated in our recent Good Ofsted report and will be taken to Borough Market to be presented later this year.

#SAVE THE FISH! Our big fish sculpture made a tour of Canterbury city centre, led by students from the Art and Design Department the fish enthralled passers-by who were keen to find out about Canterbury College School of Visual Arts.
