Harrisburg is under two hours from Lake Harmony. For a pleasure weekend based in Harrisburg, we’d likely have gone exploring in Lancaster County food, shopping, wines, and some gawking at Amish, and perhaps an afternoon at the PA State Railroad Museum. Harrisburg has the PA State Museum (free) and a very good Civil War museum. Hershey is also close with its chocolate tour, amusement park and a fine car museum. I needed to prepare for my surgery and hospital stay the following week, so sadly, we went home.

Coming up for next month, a New England road trip to see family with dogs ahead of the holidays.

LPGA Amateurs slate season kickoff

The LPGA Amateurs is the recreational side of the LPGA. The Pocono Chapter is one of over 100 national and global chapters, offering choices for multiple ability levels for playing women’s golf beginner to competitor.

This year the Pocono Chapter will provide two weekly twilight playing options for women golfers at Shawnee and Great Bear.

In addition to playing, the chapter provides educational info about golf, and offers weekend golf trips and chances for other play during the season.

The chapter also sponsors Girls’ Golf, which provides opportunity for young girls to learn and play the game.
