MEET OUR STORY * CAPA is founded in 2010 by the Jeweler and Architect Catalina PatiĂąo. Trough jewels she is constantly giving a second look to different subjects that interest hers. Another representation of the world.
Catalina is interested in exploring different techniques of applying color through pigments generated by different materials, each piece becomes essentially unique and beautiful. Each piece has a different story to tell and may be part of an artistic project. CAPA is a special handmade jewelry from Colombia, CAPA works with talented local artisan recovering traditions used by our ancestors of the pre-Columbian era, such as lost wax casting.

CAPA jewellery works in series. Each series, is interested in studying natural systems, that are configured from the union and the repetition of one or more elements of similar nature, where these configurations of elements are always much more than the sum of its part. The flexibility of these systems and mechanisms, their possibility to be extended, shortened and modified; expands the opportunities for creativity and design. CAPA jewellery is interested in the application of these mechanisms at different scales, in an architectural project, a wall, a fence, a drawing or in the details of a jewel. These metllic fabrics, are unique, they may have some similarity with microscopic images of any anatomical botanical, zoological or human tissue. They can be, cut stems in plants, approaches to corals, and bacteria. These are unique pieces, handmade, and taking as a starting point the intrinsic characteristics of the materials that they are made of. The scale of a piece of jewellery is such that it is in direct contact both with the user, the way it feels on the skin, its texture, weight, form; and hands that make it, melt it, assemble it, weld it, knead it creating a very intimate relationship between the maker, the piece and the user

WONDERS OF NATURE
Reflections of Ernest Haeckel’s work. These series makes pieces looking trough the animal, mineral and vegetation illustrations of Haeckel that are classified by its geometric similarities. When you see Haeckel work you can observe that an animal can have the same geometric principles of a mineral or a sea shell.
