16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children
25 November - 10 December “Count me in: together moving a non-violent South Africa forward.”
The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children is an international awareness-raising campaign. It takes place every year from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10 December (International Human Rights Day). South Africa adopted the campaign in 1998 as one of the intervention strategies towards creating a society free of violence. The campaign continues to raise awareness amongst South Africans about the negative impact of violence against women and children (VAW&C) on all members of the community. The objectives of the 16 Days Campaign are to: Attract all South Africans to be active participants in the fight to eradicate VAW&C, Expand accountability beyond the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) cluster to include all government clusters and provinces, Combine technology, social media, the arts, journalism, religion,
culture and customs, business and activism to draw attention to the many ways VAW&C affects the lives of all people in all communities around the world, Ensure mass mobilization of all communities to promote collective responsibility in the fight to eradicate violence against women and children, Encourage society to acknowledge that violence against women and children is NOT a government or criminal justice system problem, but a societal problem, and that failure to view it as such results in all efforts failing to eradicate this scourge in our communities, Emphasize the fact that the solution lies with all of us. Together, let us take actions to support the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign. At the launch of the 16 Days Campaign H.E. President Jacob Zuma said that activism against gender based violence should be a yearlong and not limited to 16 days.
The Department heeded the President’s call and launched the “#365 Days for No Violence Against Women and Children” (#365 Days Campaign) and the “#CountMeIn.” South Africans are encouraged to show their support for the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign by wearing the campaign ribbons during the 16-day period: A white ribbon is a symbol of peace and symbolizes the commitment of the wearer to never commit or condone violence against women and children. If South Africa has to win the fight against this scourge all members of society must stand up and make a difference, especially men and boys. This year the campaign will once again encourage men to voice their support for social change. Young men and boys will be inspired to take action and commit themselves to become activists against genderbased violence.
At the launch of the Department of Health Massive TB Campaign were Prince Nhlanganis, Phumeza Tisile, Dr. Dalene von Delft and Gerry Rantseli, TB Ambassador.
In a bid to reduce the spread of Tuberculosis (TB), the Department of Health in partnership with the USAID launched a Massive TB Screening Campaign at Parliament earlier this month. Gerry Rantseli a TB ambassador and who had TB 15 years ago, said that even though tuberculosis is a curable disease it is also a complex problem. But we need the country to buy-in more and understand the disease. Because people need to understand that if they want to get better they need to complete the treatment,” she said.
Selected contact numbers for help -
The Massive TB Screening Campaign was aimed at educating, screening and testing members of parliament so that tuberculosis can be eradicated. TB has become the number one cause of deaths in South Africa and the campaign wants to inform communities the disease is curable through the consistency of taking medication and living a healthy lifestyle. The Department of Health has undertaken massive strides to ensure people are aware and are getting treated before it is too late (copy submitted).

How you can finish 2015 strong
You can have a strong finish in 2015. There’s no reason in the world that any of us should not finish strong in 2015. It does not matter if you had a great or lousy start. It does not matter if you have stumbled time and time again or even fall flat on your face. What matters most is how you finish. Remember all your mistakes, failures and mishaps will equip you to finish strong. No matter the odds against you. You must defy the odds. You must tell the odds it’s too late I’m not quitting, I’m not throwing in the towel, you may look crazy and an absolute nut to other people because you are unwilling to quit, but what you believe is bigger than what the
eye can see and you’ve come too far to quit now and settle for so little, and you need to tell yourself – this could be the day I see my miracle. You must raise your level of expectancy and start expecting things to change in your favour. Remember God is your healer and your restorer. God has invested Himself in your dream and He will bring it to pass because, He wants you to be happier, wealthier, wiser, smarter and established in your faith. Your life may be in total chaos right now its ok. Now is a good time to start setting some priorities, I said this before, failure is not the end of destiny. In order to finish strong and well, step in your mess and see the value of your mistakes. Look at the areas of your life that caused the detours and frustration and face your giants and strongholds of 2015 -head – on. Quit worrying
and sitting around feeling sorry for yourself. Get out of that negative environment and get into an atmosphere of victory. Take some time to revisit and strengthen your grip on that dream you used to dream of. You cannot keep doing the same thing over and over, and expect a different result. Invest in your mouth and thoughts. Learn to speak blessings over your own life. You need to say goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life as in Psalm 23v5-6. Seize the moment and choose to live well and make your life count on earth. Focus concentrate and priorities you will save yourself years and will not die before your time. Draw up a life plan, what you want to achieve, where you are going, how you will know you have arrived, acknowledge your weaknesses and spend time trying to master them. Remember
the enemy knows you are about to harvest and it’s your time. That’s why he fights you he’s after your harvest. Remember trouble is not a sign that you are far away. If you are truly a child of destiny, determined, don’t give up. You are closer to destiny than ever – so don’t give up on your dream stay faithful each step of the way. The lord will fight for you. Exodus 14:14 Moses said to the people, fear not just stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Isaiah 54:17 – No weapon formed against you shall prosper. Every day God gives you the opportunity of a fresh start with a clean slate in every area of your life. Open your heart and ask the Lord to point out areas of your life where He wants to give you a fresh start. In God there are no dead ends only places for new beginnings. God bless. Ken. Weskaapse regering en All Day Foods span saam om hongermagies te vul …. “Oop hande en oop harte.” Kobus Meyer
Só kan die Maatskappy, All Day Foods, and “Giver of the Givers” beskryf word.
“Ek noem hierdie mense, Angels of Mercy/Giver of Givers. Hierdie pakkies beteken ‘a helluva lot,’ vir baie hongermagies. Julle almal behoort aan ons, deur dit bou ons ‘n Nasie wie gee en omgee, laastens plaas julle vertroue op God.” Meneer Kivido het ook die matrikulante sterkte toegewens met die finale eksamens. “Ek wil hê julle moet volhard en die beste maak van hierdie geleentheid en bekom môre leiers.”
Casual Day celebrates disability awareness month As South Africa nears the end of the 2015 Disability Right Awareness Month, Casual Day is wrapping up its 2015 campaign and launching its National Schools Programme for 2016. Schools are encouraged to pledge their support for Casual Day and to twin up with mainstream schools in their area. The Department of Social Development admits that there is a shortage of skills within the children’s disability sector, and says strategies are necessary to ensure that available human resources serve the areas of greatest need. Most of these schools participate in Casual Day and raise a substantial amount of their running costs via Casual Day infrastructure. Casual Day raises awareness

Volgens mnr.
Cloete van All day foods.

LET’S TALK BUSINESS MONITORING
November is Entrepreneurship month and I would like to take this opportunity to salute every businessman and woman who makes many sacrifices to for the sake of their businesses. Today, we touch on the three key business elements that every entrepreneur should monitor regularly. Generally, the smaller the organisation, the more regular the monitoring intervals need to be. Firstly, the entrepreneur should monitor production. This relates to the activities which are the business’s main purpose for being. The entrepreneur should pay attention to the quality of the product or service being sold
to the customer. Certain industries prescribe standards that need to be adhered to. Failing to monitor production could result in the loss of clients, regulatory compliance issues and, at worst, the closing down of the business. Secondly, operations should be monitored. This relates to the internal running of the business. In my experience this is the most neglected area, especially in small businesses. Amongst others, the entrepreneur should ensure that outstanding debtors are collected promptly, that creditors are paid on time, that any regulations governing the business are complied with (e.g. SARS requirements), that financial management and reporting are
with Heinrich Jemane
in place, that human resource policies are acceptable, etc. Thirdly, the entrepreneur should regularly monitor the business strategy. This relates to the entrepreneur’s longer term vision for the business. Are the goals set for business being achieved? Have anything changed in the industry which requires the strategy to be revisited. If the business continues doing things in the same way it is currently doing, will it be sustainable over the long term. In other words, will this business still be in existence five to ten years from now? I wish you all the best as you wisely juggle the monitoring of these key elements.

Horizon Discoveries Camp
Youth development experts agree that children need a variety of experiences in their lives to help them grow into healthy adolescents and adults. Horizon Discoveries recently took a group of grade 6 learners from Klipfontein Primary School on a camping trip. We asked two campers what they learned at camp and received interesting answers, which may be used to enhance stories about the camp experience. One said, “I learned mostly about how to get along with my Ladies of the Baptist Church and other denominations, who meet every Wednesday at the church hall, peers, but also I learned to take on more responsibilities like managing a schedule and helping concluded this year’s activities with their closing party with sumptuous meals, lots of laughter, shouting and to take care of younger campers. Learner 2 said, “At school there are defined groups of people, just simply reminiscing about the year. The group seeks to encourage and support each other. Leading the but at camp, everyone feels wanted.” At the camp Counselors and educators live with campers and interact personally with campers and lead them through all the activities. group is Veronica Malgas who indicated the ladies team is open to everyone.

Saving lives, increasing personal wellbeing, and reducing the enormous damage of violent crime far outweighs the cost of what we do. This what Reverend Molebatsi said at a Home Based Care woman’s abuse event. “Standing Together Against Domestic Violence helps to reduce the huge social and economic cost of domestic violence in SA.

Under 12 cricketer Matteo Herman of Ottomans Cricket Club is setting the junior division blazing with his batting exploits.
Contrary to many doomsayers, Metropolitan Local Football District (MLFA) enjoy one of their better season in a long time. Yes, the area are very much dominated by crime activities, though amongst the football fraternity there are committed and dedicated administrators, as so aptly showcase at this year’s prestigious event.
Long serving and life member Mr. Jacobs (Sea Points Swifts fame) grace the function with his presence, which added huge value to the evening. Sporting United (above) were the big winners of the night whilst hard-working Mrs. Gairo Jacobs, were rewarded for her tireless development work amongst the junior ranks.
Earlier in the month, Matteo scored a career best of 127, including 12 fours and 6 sixes, and this in only his second season of playing cricket. When questioned on how he prepared for his innings, Matteo said, “Our top order batsmen were struggling and my coach Abdul Razzack just told me to hit the ball as hard as I can when it’s my chance, and luckily for me the ball fell in the gaps or over the ropes (boundary) when I was batting.”
• Top Goal Scorer of Baltic Rangers - Shawaal Lakay
Not one to dwell on his past accomplishments, Matteo has set his sights on taking ten wickets in an innings. He hopes his performances will attract the attention of the selectors to be selected for his beloved WP. Besides club practices on Friday’s, Matteo spends two days per week in the cricket nets to harness his game. Everything being equal, he would like to emulate his cricket hero AB De Villiers, and play for the Proteas where he would like to score big runs to bring joy to people. With his work ethic at this early stage of his career, couple with his natural talent, Matteo is a name which one needs to watch.
