IT STARTS AT HOME – PSALM 127:1-3 SOUTH AFRICA WILL GO THE SAME WAY THE HOME AND STATE GO.

South Africa needs to be open to selfcorrection of its own economic and political dysfunction and stop the scourge of corruption and revive the values of UBUNTU. We must not lose our sense of moral outrage, but to take moral regeneration to the next level. A challenge to religious leaders to do more, to instil high moral values in current and future generations After all it takes the entire village to raise a child. Theologically we may be divided as

a country but I am of the opinion that religious education needs to be reintroduced and teachers need some way to discipline unruly pupils. Undoubtedly for effective learning and teaching to take place in schools, rules are needed and discipline is also needed for those for those who break the rules and disrupt school activities. I also believe the matter of supreme importance to the nation right now, is neither the schools nor the state, but parents with moral standards that can restore values, and apply effectual discipline in the home. Educators cannot do it alone

– parents must play a primary role and the community should also get involved. In fact before the church existed and before any form of civil Government, the home was the first Institution which God our Father established for his children. All great leaders of the world are born in simple homes where the Alphabet of the Gospel is first learned and where they were taught discipline, character and principles. At this very moment there’s a fierce demonic battle for the soul and mind of young people. Our Youth grow up in a confused environment where they battle with

their identity and Substance abuse, and there’s no way to fix South Africa, if we don’t fix people in their own home, because that’s where lawlessness begins. The child that respects not the authority of parents will not respect the Authority of God and of the land. If we don’t develop character in the home we won’t have character in business, in social life and in Government. I thank you for taking the time to read this simple article and for your feedback. God bless. (2 Chronicles 7:14) Ken. Mitchell@telkomsa.net 0641339460

E A Janari embrace Casual Day

What makes you different? This was the question asked by the organisers of the Casual Day event where the theme for 2017 was Diversity. This question was boldly answered by the learners of E.A Janari Primary School in their choice of clothing. Depicting clowns, fairies, princesses, vampires, karate masters wearing

traditional African and Muslim clothing learners strolled around the school grounds as if it was the most normal thing on earth. The school also answered this question by having this event on 8th September, 2017 instead of 1st September in order to accommodate the Muslim learners who celebrated Eid on that

day. Although being fun and fancyfree seemed to be the order of the day, at its heart this event was still a fundraising effort to bring hope to those who live with disabilities. The children showed their support for this cause by purchasing the Casual Day sticker for R10, 00 and wearing it proudly. Through the generosity of our parents, learners and teachers, E.A Janari Primary School managed to raise over R3000, 00 which when towards the Casual Day campaign. What makes E.A Janari different? Young Pirates leads netball revival On Monday, September 25, Young Pirates Netball Club, only established in July of this year, hosted a Treasure Box Tournament at the Metropolitan Sport Grounds. The main objective was to revive interest in the game of netball in Bonteheuwel. And base on the crowd turnout plus the number of participative teams even from outside the area, then most certainly Young Pirates succeeded. The who’s who of the netball world was in attendance, with a couple of South African men players, and who assisted duly with refereeing duties. Many of the national players acknowledged the talent and admitted they are impressed with the standard of netball given the absence of tournament play in these neighbourhoods. Seven Shooting Stars from Elsies River claim the gold medal with Delft Wild Cats and home team Welcome Rose ending second and third respectively. All the teams receive a complimentary ball from the facility management chairperson Lindsay Davids. From all accounts, Young Pirates deserve all the accolades for reviving netball, giving many

aspiring netball players not only an opportunity to play but also a chance to keep busy with so little recreation facilities available in the area. (copy submitted Aubrun Damons)Ps!! Relieve stress and feel better with regular karate classes It’s fair to say adults are more stressed out today than ever before. In such a stressful environment, many adults find it difficult to find time to exercise. Martial arts such as karate are not only for children and teenagers. In fact, some senior citizens even engage in karate with their grandchildren as a way to remain physically fit and mentally alert. One such person is senior citizen 61 year old Ivan Ludick who last year join the Kyokushin Karate Club. He believes it’s a very social activity which allows participants to get out of the house, meet new people and form lasting friendships. Kyokushin Karate Club offers a variety of classes for the whole family to enjoy. To find out more about the Kyokushin Karate Club, and the programs

ABSA Psl| Its derby time!

After five completed games in this year’s Psl league its finally derby time as Cape Town two biggest pro teams Ajax Cape Town and Cape Town City meet for the first time this weekend. Thusfar both teams have acquitted themselves adequately. City under the guidance of legend

Benni McCarthy, have won three out of five games to occupy fifth position whilst Ajax have managed a solitary victory with two draws to sit 12th on the league table. At the time of going to print, the coaches were unsure about their respective lineups, safe to say expect a

few strategic changes. Kickoff 3pm at the Cape Town Stadium, Saturday September 30.

Perennial contenders Hanover Park reach the Safa Coke Cup when they beat Strandfontein 1 – 0 in a highly enterprising semi- final played on Sunday at Avonwood Park. For the past ten years or so, the team from Hanover Park have consistently challenged for silverware where they have competed, which speaks volumes of the players character and resolve, given the social circumstances surrounding them. Whilst Strandfontein showed plenty of

commitment they never really threatened the Hanover goal. The local team known as Brasse vannie Kaap could even afford the luxury of a missed penalty. It will take a mammoth effort from their opponents Rygersdal to stop ‘the Park’ from winning this prestigious cup, who in the other semi- final beat Silver Spurs in a penalty shoot-out in a game which never reached any great heights because of both teams nervousness throughout the game.

Sports do not build character. They reveal it. (Heywood Broun)
