Embark from Pier 26 and begin your journey through New York from the banks of the Hudson, down through Fulton Street and into one of the world’s most iconic railway stations – the Grand Central Terminal.

Our drinks menu is designed to take you along the journeys of some of the legendary trains and routes that departed the station and made their way across North America throughout the 1920’s and 1930’s.

These tipples will bring you north to Chicago, westwards across the vast landscape of Canada, down south to Miami in the tip of Florida, and all the way across the great rolling plains of the United States to coastal Los Angeles.

INTRODUCING THE 20 TH CENTURY LIMITED

One of the most expensive trains in the world when it was built, the 20th Century Limited Streamliner was a nightly passenger train that ran from Grand Central Terminal to LaSalle Street Station in Chicago and eventually became the flagship train of the New York Central Railroad.

Constructed in the Art Deco style of the time by legendary industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss, who painted it in prominent blues and greys that would soon become its signature, this overnight train took 20 hours from station to station.

Besides featuring luxury sleeping accommodations, travellers could spend their time settled in the cocktail lounge – or even get spruced up at a hairdresser’s saloon onboard.

With the shortest railway journey out of the four iconic train routes that have inspired this very special section in our bar menu, we have decided to pay tribute by crafting a cocktail selection that is all about North American ingredients. Alongside regional produce, these cocktails feature some of the best-known and most-awarded craft spirits that come from the country.

The train route that made giving someone “the red carpet treatment” a global expression. Packed full of herbs, this drink has a pleasing tart finish.

INTRODUCING THE SANTA FE SUPER CHIEF

Well-known for its Hollywood clientele, the Chief was a true transcontinental railway train. Known as the ‘Rolling Boudoir’ for film stars and movie executives, guests would transfer onto this from the 20th Century Limited in Chicago, then continue their journey all the way to Union Station, Los Angeles!

As this route saw more affluent tourists and business travellers, the quality of dining and beverage options was like nothing previously witnessed. 63 hours long from start to finish, the route of this bright red locomotive passed alongside great stretches of natural beauty, giving guests the opportunity to witness the majesty of the Grand Canyon from the comfort of their own seats.

The cocktails in this section feature ingredients and flavours that are characteristic of the USA’s West Coast, which is renowned for its wonderfully temperate climate and region-specific spirits.

At its peak, the bright red “Warbonnet” livery of the Super Chief was one of the most recognisable in all of the USA. As tribute, North American spirits take centre stage here.

INTRODUCING THE ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL

This all-diesel deluxe passenger train was the first to connect New York to the white beaches of Miami. Taking 35 hours to run its course, it was designed to attract influential and wealthy business trailblazers South, to the “Sunshine State” of Florida.

Decadent food was featured prominently onboard, with all baked goods made fresh right there on-train, while fresh produce such as flowers, meat, and fruit was collected along the route at each stopover. This green and orange locomotive was a famous sight to be seen as it passed by the orange groves that are so plentiful in the peninsula.

The drinks in this section take inspiration from the picturesque journey between New York and its tropical destination of Miami. True to Miami, each drink features a Spanish-Caribbean influence, with local ingredients peppered throughout.

Named for the man who made the bluegrass anthem ‘Orange Blossom Special’ notorious. This tropical leaning non-dairy milk punch can be enjoyed by those adverse to dairy!

Infamous for being the only hotel where tourists could find a drink during Miami’s early days as a dry city. This Caribbean rum-influenced sipper is a great drink to kickstart an evening.

INTRODUCING THE CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILWAY

Commencing construction in 1881, the Canadian Pacific railway was designed to finally unite the East and West coastlines of Canada and in turn, create a network to take people into the heart of the USA via the Grand Central Terminal in New York City.

Home to some of the most luxurious sleeper carriages ever seen, the CPR also saw the development of stunning hotels along the routes, some of which can still be seen to this day. A true pioneer railway service, the CPR played a huge role in the driving of tourism from America to Canada, while also opening up the vast country to local immigration.

The drinks in this section showcase a selection of French and Canadian spirits and ingredients that take inspiration from some key destinations along this famed railway line.

Named for the route that brought silk from Vancouver’s ports straight to NYC, this vodka tipple has a crisp, citrusy finish, with notes of rhubarb and a gentle Canadian sweetness.
