Eliza Winn

Your artist name is Eliza Winn why is that?

That is my first and middle name. I didn’t want to use my last name to protect my family’s privacy.

My full name is now published on my IG. (Wink).

I love my name and have never felt the need to make up anything fake. It’s who I am.

06 PAGE

Have you ever been attending an International Tattoo event?

I have only been to conventions/tattoo events in the US! I’m trying to go to New Zealand’s, Rome’s, and London’s. My favorite convention by far is Durb Morrison’s HELL CITY. It is SO much fun and the after party is insane!

What is your favourite style of tattooing?

I think as I’ve evolved and matured my favorite style is traditional Japanese. It never goes out of style, it’s powerful, and beautiful. I also love colorful tattoos. I’ve noticed you can tell someone’s age a lot by the style of their tattoos,

and realized that Japanese art will always be a prominent, timeless style. Some of it is very meaningful as well, so that’s cool too. My right arm is in the middle of getting covered in traditional Japanese by Jeffrey Page right now.

07 PAGE

Are you most into winter or summer holidays?

I love all and any holidays…

I will take one anytime.

Have you been in any tv shows or programmes/ series?

No I have not but I do intend on acting more and more. I love it. But

I’m happy with the music videos for now!

Do you have any specific hobbies beside your work as a model?

Yes I play music.

I’m a classically trained pianist, I sing all the time, I have a microphone, guitars, bass, amplifiers, and a baby grand in my living room; the music is kind of non-stop around here.

The only thing I don’t have is a drum set but I’m getting an electric one soon, so I don’t piss off the neighbors.

Most of my friends, including my man, are professional touring musicians so we have a lot of fun here!

08 PAGE

How many years have you been modelling and how did you actually start?

I began modeling around 15. I went to an art school for high school and one of my (Japanese) friends, who was a pro skateboarder back then, had a talent for photographing and developing film. He asked me to pose for him and those photos ended up in a Japanese skateboarding

magazine, which was very rare to see back then. That same year during a trip to NYC, a talent scout for an elite modeling agency called Ford Models saw me on the street at Columbus Circle and I signed with them that day.

Who is your idol in tattooing?

My three magicians, as I like to call them, were Uncle Paul Knows, Dynoz Art Attack, and Supreme Drone. If it weren’t for them, my art wouldn’t exist. They have individually pushed the tattoo industry’s boundaries

How did you get into being a tattoo artist?

My uncle Artemis, owner of Stigma Rotary, got me into the game of tattooing early on. I had been a big admirer of his art for as long as I could remember. He was definitely my biggest influence.

What is the best experience that the tattoo world has given you?

It’s a privilege to be able to travel around the world doing something that I love. I don’t think I could have built friendships like the ones I have, or seen so many different parts of the world, if it weren’t for tattooing.

Get To Know RP LEE rp_and_rp

What’s the most memorable/ weird experience you’ve had while tattooing?

My journey into tattooing was a serendipitous one. While accompanying a friend to a tattoo shop, I was struck by the beauty of the designs I saw and wondered if I too could

How did you get into tattooing?

I’ve always been interested in painting, but when I discovered tattooing, I became intrigued by the art form and the challenge of creating permanent, mistake-free designs. That’s how I started tattooing.

What’s the best experience that the tattoo world has given you?

I’ve had the opportunity to create portraits of people who have passed away, and it’s a special experience to be able to create a lasting tribute to someone. When they see the tattoo and are happy or emotional, it’s a proud moment for me.

I Can you tell us about your favorite tattoo style or brand?

My favorite tattoo style is reality and black and gray. It requires a lot of concentration and difficult skills to master, but the sense of accomplishment when you complete it is better than any other genre.

What are you passionate about besides tattooing and art?

I’m also passionate about cars and would love to do something related to it, like starting a YouTube channel or working in the automotive industry.

What’s the most memorable/weird experience you’ve had while tattooing?

I’ve had some interesting experiences with customers, both weird and memorable. One weird customer asked me to tattoo a Bible verse all over his face, and he continued to recite the verse even as I was tattooing him. I was a bit afraid of being cursed! The most memorable customer was a father with a mentally disabled son, who left his contact information as a tattoo on his son’s body in case he ever got lost.

What’s your favorite tattoo style, and is there a style that you don’t like?

My favorite tattoo style is black and gray and reality, but I don’t think there is a worst style. All artists tattoo someone’s body with their passion and responsibility, and that’s what makes it a precious moment.

Who is your tattooing idol?

I used to admire Anil Gupta, but now I focus on developing my own style and creating unique designs rather than following someone else’s style.

This band has been going on for ages, but I think they have never received the recognition they deserve. First time I saw them was in 2002 when they supported Slipknot and I was immediately sold on this band. The American Head Charge music balances on the edge of nu and industrial metal with keyboard/sampler having a strong presence. They formed in the late 90s and started their musical adventure with a self-released album “Trepanation”. But the band’s career started to get traction when they supported System of a Down and Shavo Odadijan (SOAD bassist) recommended the band to the legendary metal producer Rick Rubin. Under Rubin’s wings the band relocated to LA and in 2001 released their debut album “The Word of Art”. The band played major festivals (like Ozzfest) and share d stage with the likes of Slipknot, Mudvayne, Rammstein, System of a Down, and Slayer, to name a few. Their first album was promoted by the single “Just so you know” – one of my favourite songs of all times. Their next album “The Feeding” was release after the band parted ways with Rick Rubin’s label. The album, released in 2005, was promoted by a brilliant single “Loyalty” and a video for “Coward”. The same year the band’s guitarist Brian Ottoson died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

Head Charge

In 2007, American Head Charge released a DVD “Can’t Stop the Machine” with a CD containing live and unreleased songs. After that the band went quite for a number of years, and apparently drugs were to blame. Cameron Heacock, the band’s singer, was struggling to maintain balance between staying sober and creativity and the band decided to disband in 2009. But suddenly in 2011 Heacock announced that he’d be willing to continue with the band and the reformed American Head Charge started touring again supporting, among others, Mushroomhead and (Hed)pe. They have also recorded and self-released an EP “Shoot” to finally release a full album “Tango Umbrella” in 2016. In 2017 another tragedy struck the band – Chad Hanks, the bassist and a founding member passed away due to a terminal illness. I love AHC – their blend of industrial, raw sound, and a mixture of screaming and melodic vocals is just what your metal soul needs. And their life performances are always at a 100% of pure energy.

There are some bands that you’d like to go on and on. But then you hear that they’d split, and you think “Damn, why them?”. For me one of those bands is Mnemic - a Danish heavy metal band formed in Aalborg in 1998. Even though they do not play anymore I still go back to their albums often and I think it is worth giving them a listen if you’re unfamiliar with their music.

Their music can be described as metal fusion – aggressive vocals with melodic elements, technical guitars, bass and drumming. Original line-up consisted of vocalist Mark Bai, guitarists Mircea Gabriel Eftemie, Rune Stigart, bassist Mikkel Larsen and a drummer Brian Rasmussen. The original vocalist was later replaced Michael Bogballe. Their 2003 debut album “Mechanical Spin Phenomena” was released by the Nuclear Blast records. After another line-up change (bassist Mikkel Larsen was replaced by Tomas “OBeast” Koefoed) the band was touring Europe, providing support to, among others, Machine Head. In 2004, Mnemic recorded their second album The Audio Injected Soul. Their album got them some well-deserved recognition and put them on Roskilde Festival stage in 2004. For me one of the highlights on this brilliant album is a cover of Duran Duran’s “Wild Boys” – the 80’s classic in a very

Metal arrangement! To promote the album Mnemic recordeed videos for two of their songs: Deathbox and Door 2.12. Have a watch – especially Door 2.12 – it’s pretty cool. After recording of the “Audio Injected Soul” the band parted ways with their vocalist, and his place was take n by Guillaume Bideau. With Bideau the band continued their musical journey recording their third album “Passenger” promoting it with a video for the song “Meaningless” – the most melodic song on the whole album. Sons of the System – their fourth album, released in 2010 shifted the balance towards more melodic vocals and more electronic sounds taking away some of the earlier “rawness” of the band’s signature sound. After this album the three long standing members of the band (Stigart, Koefoed and Rasmussen) called it quits, leaving Mircea Eftemie the only original member. With the new line-up in 2012 the band released one more album “Mnemesis”. This album was a mixed bag of old aggression and a new melodic approach. Unfortunately, the band disbanded in 2014.

I have a great sentiment for Mnemic - especially their first 2 albums. At the time of their release, it was a breath of fresh, metal air and I think I will be going back to those albums when in need of some good metal assault on my ear canals.

The best experience that the world of tattoing has give you?

The best experience would be to travel around the world and fulfill my dream of becoming a better person and artist through tattooing.

If you weren’t tattoo artist, what else would you do for a living?

I can’t imagine my life without being a tattoo artist! My passion for tattooing stems from my love of art. I enjoy doing art, such as painting and installation, which is why I plan to set up a studio soon to express my feelings through my artwork. However, some of my friends have also told me that I could be a great stand-up comedian if I wanted to make people laugh. So, who knows?

Tattooing is a personal passion of mine, and I believe that we grow together as I explore new places and cultures.

Tattooing has given me so many wonderful memories, from the good days to the tough days. It’s not just a job, it’s my life. What could be better than that?”

44 PAGE

JOZA.INK

How did you got in to be a tattoo artist ? I’ve been fascinated by tattooing since I got my first tattoo at 15. After hours of looking at designs and magazines, a friend sold me my first tattoo machine.

That was when I knew I had the passion and drive to pursue tattooing as a career. Through hard work, I’ve turned that dream into a fulfilling career that I’m grateful for every day

Which artist/artists did all your body work?

Choosing just a few tattoos to talk about is challenging for me because each one is so unique and holds a special place in my heart.

All of my tattoos were collected from different parts of the world during my travels as a guest tattoo artist, and they serve as a reminder of my experiences. It’s not only the tattoos themselves that are special to me, but also the artists who created them. Each artist has their own unique style and approach to tattooing, making it difficult to choose just one as my favorite.

Through her work as a prominent tattoo model and business owner, she aims to represent hardworking mothers and show that strength and fearlessness are essential qualities for success She pushes herself every day to go beyond her comfort zone and refuses to let anyone discourage her from reaching her goals.

Although she waited until later in life to begin her tattoo journey, she has made up for lost time by using her ink to represent the experiences that have shaped her into the incredible woman she is today. Her tattoos tell her life story and have all been thoughtfully planned out

As a tattooed mother, she believes that her ink sets an example for her children to be true to themselves and not to conform to societal norms
