FINAL DISSERTATION: INNOVATION OF DIGITAL COMIC

BANTENG BETAWI DIGITAL COMIC Final project for my Bachelor Degree, I made Digital Comic as a innovation in digital media. I used Pitung Story from Jakarta Indonesia as the main story. I investigated and researched about the digital comic that has now in worldwide. And made several new innovation for my digital comic. The digital comic made in Flash and illustrations in photoshop. And then we made some promotion media to introduce the innovation to people.

EXPERIMENT

For starter, i search refrences about Digital Comic and i made some research about what was comic all about, the history, contenta, how to show it, SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) about Digital Comic, and so on. From here i made some conclusion about what i shall do on my digital comic, considering the negative and positif effects from my research.

Exploring every techniques to use for the digital comic, whether its new or have already been used, with all the factors that can combine Digital Comic. Such as, transition, audio, typography, colors, movement, word baloon, comic panel, depth of field, and so on.

After i made storyline and references from Pitung old movie, I started to eaxplore more about Betawi (Jakarta) cultures to be more blended in my Digital Comic. Rough sketches, shape experiment and characters studies to be more precise in the digital comic.

Using interactive media online, i made the comic half-motion so that comic essentials still can be found. This is a new way of presenting new comic media so that comics wont be lost in digital industries.

Designing for all the promotion of the DIgital Comic Banteng Betawi, with Black, White and Red as the main colors and character Pitung as the main interest for the promotion

We mostly do online promotion for Hollywood movies distributor such as Warner Bros, Disney, etc. We also help promote Indonesian Movie companies such as Maxima Pictures, Alenia Pictures and couple of national local brand companies.

Stop Littering Public Service Print Ad Message: To make people realize how much trash they do in a day.

Indonesia Identity Public Service Print Ad Message: To remind people about how importance it is to protect our culture

Concept: Using simple iconic and 2 bright contrast colors for people to notice.

Concept: Using Wayang shape as the symbol of Indonesian Culture with “On Loan” Text, where the real Wayang is lost

Stop Smoking Public Service Print Ad Message: Its very hard to make people realize how much smoking can give worse effects. So i tried to find what most important thing to people at the future. Generation. The idea is to make people scared that smoking can put people’s heritage in danger. Concept: Using tree of generation layout and smokes that burn the whole tree.

FEMALE DAILY NETWORK Female Daily is a network of digital destination specifically catered to women. The company own and manage several websites: fashionesedaily.com (fashion, beauty & lifestyle) mommiesdaily.com (parenting & family) and popsdaily.com (celebrities), as well as Female Daily Forum, currently one of the biggest women online communities in Indonesia, with over 30,000 members. Providing tips, events, entertainment for women needs. Female Daily consist of Mommies daily, Fashionese Daily, and Pops Daily. They also helps other in branding company in online world. Many brands put up their ads in their website, especially women brands. In this company, I’m charge in of the graphic design needs, for female daily events, corporate identity, also making banner for some of the brands in Indonesia.

Mommies Daily Ad Mommies Daily is one of the group from Female Daily Network, specialize in helping Indonesian Mother, giving them tips on how to take care of their children, pregnancy, and other issues related on being a housewife. We often make events where Indonesian Women can learn new experience on how to become good mother. We published book about pregnancy, tips online and also made vaccination schedule for mothers to remind them


Women Wired Weekend is the big event Female Daily Network establish in February 2012. One of the main event is the conference, you can learn from prominent speakers on several topics including: online business, online female market, online community, finance, education, leadership, career and family. There’s also Female Daily MarketPlaza where women can shop local brands and hard to get fashion and beauty items from overseas as well as vintage items.

Logo Concept Fun, modern, simplicity, yet still have feminism side. To achieve this kind of look, i decided to use rounded font and use a wire symbolize “W” letter and throne.

I’ve made several alternatives until we settle down to the current logo.


Bunga Accessories is the first and the biggest accessories store in Indonesia for female teenagers, with concept of “Bunga Best Friends Forever”.

We developed many events, programmes, and promotion for Bunga Branding Strategies. I was in charge of all design need for Bunga Accessories, including: • Media Promotion: including flyer, banner, calender etc • Flo’s Pocketbook: small magazine every 2 months • Wallpapers • Website Interface: www. aksesorisbunga.com • Sticker for interior Bunga Accessories stores • Characters of Flo and Friends • Bag Packing Design The design has to be girly, full of fun, and attracted for female teenagers.


FLO’S POCKETBOOK Flo’s Pocketbook is a free magazine from Bunga Accessories launches every 2 months. The contents usually about fashion, news, accessories, quiz, etc. I was in charge of Flo’s Pocketbook for about a year 20092010. The team basically a graphic designer, a copywriter, and events team.

LEGACY PARTY BAR

Legacy is a new party bar in Bandung, Indonesia. One of the exclusive and high class club. We managed to do the promotion of every events for every week, including making Flyer, Baligho, and Newspaper Ad. I was in charge of the flyer and baligho design for about 10 months. Every week has different themes. So i adjust the design based on theme of the week.

For more info visit:www.mysmartfx.com Concept: Based on fast tight schedule and high quality produce. I use an arrow to symbolize the trading process. Since it is targeted to young people, bright colors and formal font would fit.

Cemerlang Valasindo Cemerlang Valasindo is one of the trade market in Indonesia. Located new in Jakarta Indonesia. Concept: Cemerlang Valasindo help their costumer to cooperate in their trading process. Based on the concept, i use 2 shapes colaboration as the symbol of working together to success

Kubik Indonesia Kubik Indonesia is a new logistic provider in Indonesia, joined with couple of international companies to cooperate the shipping Concept: Using the word “Cubic” (red:Kubik) as the base, i use a 3D cubic for “K” letter respresentative. It has to be strong, modern and masculine feeling for the fonts and colors.
