Master of Ceremonies Allison Rosati Anchor, NBC 5 News

Allison Rosati is anchor of the award winning NBC 5 News at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. Rosati joined the NBC 5 family as an anchor and reporter in August 1990. Viewers first got to know Allison on “First Thing in the Morning.” Five years later she began anchoring the early evening news. And in May 1997 Rosati was promoted to co-anchor of NBC 5’s 10 p.m. newscast. Originally from Pine City, Minnesota, Rosati started her career in Rochester, Minnesota at KTTC-TV in 1985. In July of 1987, Rosati was hired by WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, New York to report and anchor the 6 & 11 p.m. newscasts. In 1985, Rosati graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a double major in speech and communications and received cum laude honors. Gustavus has honored Rosati with its First Decade Award and its Distinguished Alumni award for her achievements in journalism. Allison has been honored with numerous national and local awards for her work on stories, series and specials that impact our communities. The Emmy award winning “Wednesday’s Child” resulted in many adoptions for children looking for forever families. The American Women in Radio and Television recognized her work on the “Smart Choices, Safe Kids” special with a national Gracie Award. The program educated kids and parents about child predators and how to recognize the lures they use. Additionally Rosati received the prestigious Dante Award from the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans — an annual award to journalists who are “not a timid friend to truth.”

Honorary Chair Marianne Silver

Chief People Officer, Coyote Logistics LLC Marianne Silver has developed world-class recruiting and human resources programs for some of the fastest-growing companies in the transportation industry. After curating and cultivating the culture and growing workforce in the 1990s that led American Backhaulers to be the second largest North American freight brokerage, she teamed up with her husband, Jeff Silver, to start Coyote in 2006, where, as the mastermind behind such rapid growth and sensational culture, she nailed a repeat performance. At Coyote, the one thing she wanted to do differently was foster leadership development and provide a more structured education, which she’s mastered with Coyote’s unique and rigorous training programs. In 2015, under the Silvers’ leadership, Coyote became a subsidiary of UPS. Thanks in part to Marianne, Coyote has been recognized as Chicago’s Top Workplace by the Chicago Tribune since 2011. In 2015 Coyote was named to the Selling Power 2015 ‘50 Best Companies to Sell For’ list for the second year in a row. In 2014 Coyote was named to the ‘Top 100 Digital Companies in Chicago’ list. In 2013 Coyote was named one of America’s Top Workplaces, and Silver was named one of “11 Women Who Started Amazing Companies” by Forbes. She serves on the board of Lake Forest Country Day School, Lake Forest Academy, and the University of Michigan School of Information Dean’s External Advisory Board. Marianne is a member of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Professional Advisory Council. mariannesilver@coyote.com @coyotelogistics facebook.com/coyotelogistics

So whether Allison is being honored by the local war veterans organization for her support of the troops, or out in the neighborhoods to interview women for the political pulse of our times, she is known and applauded for her integrity, passion and commitment! Committed to community service, Rosati volunteers her time to many Chicago-area organizations. She is passionate about giving back and has a special affection for charities that benefit children in need. Allison and her husband have four children and one puppy. Allison.Rosati@nbcuni.com

special St. Jude guest Princess Tess 11 years old Neuroblastoma

As the holidays of 2008 came and went, we noticed a change in Tess. Our sweet princess seemed to be tired, a little pale, and sporadically complaining of leg pain. We took her to our family doctor for a check-up and blood work. Nothing was alarming, so we decided to wait and watch. Within a week, we could easily see that she was getting worse. Tess had several body scans and tests which kept coming back with no clear answer. Our family was sent to St. Jude in Peoria in January of 2009 where we were given life-changing news. Tess, 3 at the time, had a tumor in her adrenal gland and cancer cells in her bone marrow. She was diagnosed with stage 4, high-risk neuroblastoma. We were lucky enough to stay at the Midwest Affiliate in Peoria for her initial diagnosis and her first surgery. She had a week to recover and then we headed to Memphis. Tess was given a 20-30% prognosis at that time. Between Memphis and Peoria, Tess faced 10 months of chemotherapy, a stem-cell harvest and transplant, several surgeries, 13 rounds of radiation and 6 month antibody therapy treatment. When we started the journey, the antibody was not available. Because of the on-going research happening at St. Jude, Tess’ prognosis jumped to 70%! Not only does St. Jude provide cutting edge medical treatment, they also provide HOPE. Without the care and love that every staff member showered on our entire family, hope would have been lost. St. Jude was able to care for Tess’ medical needs, our emotional needs, as well as our financial needs. St. Jude saved our daughter’s life. Today, Tess is a happy, healthy, 11 year old girl who loves art, singing, and running. She was officially cured from cancer in July of 2010!

st. jude quick facts • St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. • Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. • Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood survival rate from 20 percent when the hospital opened in 1962 to more than 80 percent today. • St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent, and we won’t stop until no child dies from cancer. • St. Jude has increased the survival rates for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) from 4 percent before opening in 1962 to 94% today. • St. Jude is where doctors often send their toughest cases, because St. Jude has the world’s best survival rates for some of the most aggressive forms of childhood cancers. • St. Jude creates more clinical trials for cancer than any other children’s hospital and turns laboratory discoveries into lifesaving treatments that benefit patients – every day. 14

• St. Jude freely shares its ground breaking discoveries, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists can use that knowledge to save thousands more children around the world. • Because the majority of St. Jude funding comes from individual contributors, St. Jude has the freedom to focus on what matters most – saving kids regardless of their financial situation. • St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and from around the world. • St. Jude is licensed for 80 inpatient beds and treats upwards of 277 patients each day. • St. Jude maintains 78 inpatient beds and treats upwards of 260 patients each day. • In 2016 St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was named one of the country’s “100 Best Companies to Work For,” by FORTUNE magazine for the sixth year in a row. • The hospital’s International Outreach Program transfers the progress achieved in the treatment of childhood cancer in developed countries to those with limited resources. St. Jude has 24 official partner sites in 17 countries in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, South America, the Eastern Mediterranean region and Asia. More than 32,000 registered users from 160 countries have accessed Cure4Kids. org, an Internet-based distance learning initiative. In addition, St. Jude trains thousands of medical professionals around the world through consultations, faculty visits to St. Jude and Cure4Kids.org. • The hospital’s International Outreach Program transfers the progress achieved in the treatment of childhood cancer in developed countries to those with limited resources.
