Our 20th Anniversary Honorary Chair: Marlo Thomas, St. Jude National Outreach Director and recent winner of the Freedom Award, represented by a fabulous group of 20 – 10 Chicagoland St. Jude miracles each accompanied by a family member. Although Ms Thomas will probably not be able to attend the event due to her performance schedule, she will honor us with a customized video message for our guests. Marlo Thomas is an award-winning actress, author and activist whose body of work continues to impact American entertainment and culture. She has been honored with four Emmy Awards, the Peabody, a Golden Globe, a Grammy, and has been inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame. In 2010, she launched her website, MarloThomas.com, in partnership with AOL and The Huffington Post. Ms. Thomas burst onto the scene as television’s That Girl, which broke new ground for independent women everywhere, and which she also conceived and produced. Her pioneering spirit continued with her creation of Free to Be...You and Me, which became a platinum album, best-selling book, Emmy Award-winning television special and a stage show. She has remained a constant presence on television (most recently, The New Normal) and in theatre, including her critically acclaimed performance on Broadway in Elaine May’s 2012 comedy-drama, Relatively Speaking. This past Fall, she completed the film, “Cardboard Boxer” and starred in a new play by Tony award-winning playwright Joe DiPietro called “Clever Little Lies”. The play will be opening at the Guild Hall this summer in East Hampton to prepare for a New York run. Her six bestselling books include Free to Be You and Me, Free to Be a Family, The Right Words at the Right Time (Volumes 1 and 2), Thanks and Giving: All Year Long (which became a Grammy-winning CD) and her memoir, Growing Up Laughing: My Story and the Story of Funny. Ms. Thomas’ newest book, It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over, was released this April. She has been honored for her activism with the Helen Caldicott Award for Nuclear Disarmament, the ACLU’s Thomas Paine Award, the American Women in Radio and Television Satellite Award, the William Kunstler Racial Justice Award, The National Civil Rights Museum Freedom Award, The Jefferson Award for Public Service, The American Cancer Society Humanitarian Award, and the Castle Connolly National Health Leadership Award. In 2011, she launched a bullying prevention campaign on her website, and helped spearhead a nationwide anti-bullying initiative in partnership with, among others, the Ad Council, AOL, Facebook, and the U.S. Departments of Education and Health and Human Services. Ms. Thomas is the National Outreach Director for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, which was founded by her father, Danny Thomas, in 1962. Her countless fundraising and awareness campaigns have educated the public about the life-saving work being done every day at St. Jude. In 2004, she co-created the hospital’s annual Thanks and Giving campaign, a national fundraising effort that encourages shoppers to “Give thanks for the healthy children in your life and give to those who are not,” for which she received the CLIO Healthcare Award. Ms. Thomas lives in New York with her husband, Phil Donahue.

Master of Ceremonies Allison Rosati, Anchor, NBC 5 News Allison Rosati is co-anchor of NBC 5 News’ award-winning news team at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. Illinois Broadcasters Association named Rosati and Warner Saunders best anchor team in 2004. Rosati joined the NBC 5 family as an anchor and reporter in August 1990. Committed to community service, Rosati volunteers her time for many Chicago-area organizations. Whether it’s the Greater Chicago Food Depository, the Infant Welfare Society, the Ronald McDonald House, or the March of Dimes, Rosati enjoys giving back whenever possible. Over the years she has also helped the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization, from sitting on the board of directors to helping with events to raise awareness. Rosati has received numerous awards for her work including a National Emmy for the “Survive Alive” Station Project and Fire Prevention special. In 2004 she received the Humanitarian Of The Year award from the Italian American Police Association, who also named her Woman Of The Year in 2001. In December of 2002, Allison Rosati received the Department of Health and Human Services Adoption Excellence Award from HHS Secretary Tommy G. Thompson. She also received an Excellence in Communications Award from the Justinian Society of Chicago, and the David Award for “Achievement in Broadcasting” and in May of 2001, she received the prestigious Dante Award from the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans -an annual award to journalists who are “not timid friends to truth.” In 2000, she was honored with a Chicago Emmy Award for her role as host in “NBC 5 Presents: Millennium 2000.” Rosati and her husband have four children.

Special Guest Mondo Guerra, Project Runway Denver based fashion designer Mondo Guerra is no stranger to the runway. After a runner-up finish on Lifetime’s Project Runway season 8, Mondo went on to claim victory on the first season of Project Runway All Stars. And in 2014, he reunited with Emmy-winning, Tim Gunn, to serve as a mentor on Project Runway: Under The Gunn. Mondo’s innovative style and bold designs have captured the fashion world’s imagination, while his work in HIV/ AIDS advocacy has helped cultivate the important conversation about the epidemic. Mondo has traveled the U.S. as a proud spokesperson for I Design—Merck’s national education campaign, which underscores the importance for people living with HIV/AIDS (ProjectIDesign. com). Mondo courageously revealed his HIV-positive status on Project Runway season eight after he created the challenge-winning print, “Pozitivity,” inspired by his own experience with the virus. The disclosure came after more than 10 years of personal silence. Mondo has also teamed up with Subaru’s Dining Out for Life, an annual fundraising event for AIDS service organizations throughout North America. More than 3,000 restaurants donate a portion of their proceeds from one special day of dining to the licensed AIDS service agency in their city. More than $4 million a year is raised to support the missions of 60 outstanding HIV/AIDS service organizations (DiningOutforLife.com). In addition to HIV/AIDS advocacy, Mondo continues to design. His new, exclusive collection of frames and sunglasses with SEE Eyewear hits shelves nationwide in Fall 2014. The collaboration celebrates retro style in a modern way, with a fresh color palette and striking prints. Plus, a portion of sales from the collection benefits amFAR. St. Jude Quick Facts • St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. • Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. • Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood survival rate from 20 percent when the hospital opened in 1962 to more than 80 percent today.

• The hospital’s International Outreach Program transfers the progress achieved in the treatment of childhood cancer in developed countries to those with limited resources. St. Jude has 21 partner sites in 15 countries, and more than 40,000 registered users from 160 countries have accessed Cure4Kids.org, an Internet-based distance learning initiative. In addition, St. Jude trains thousands of medical professionals around the world through consultations, faculty visits to St. Jude and Cure4Kids.org. • The medical and scientific staff published 775 articles in academic journals in 2013, more than any other pediatric cancer research center in the United States. St. Jude’s researchers are published and cited more often in high impact publications than any other private pediatric oncology institution in America.

• St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent in the next decade. • St. Jude has increased the survival rates for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) from 4 percent before opening in 1962 to 94% today. • St. Jude is where doctors often send their toughest cases, because St. Jude has the world’s best survival rates for some of the most aggressive forms of childhood cancers. • St. Jude creates more clinical trials for cancer than any other children’s hospital and turns laboratory discoveries into lifesaving treatments that benefit patients – every day. • St. Jude freely shares its ground breaking discoveries, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists can use that knowledge to save thousands more children around the world. • The daily operating cost for St. Jude is $2 million, which is primarily covered by individual contributors. • St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and from around the world. • On average, 7,800 active patients visit the hospital each year, most of whom are treated on an outpatient basis. • St. Jude maintains 78 inpatient beds and treats upwards of 260 patients each day. • St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. • In 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was named one of the country’s “100 Best Companies to Work For,” by FORTUNE magazine. 20

PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE Camping World and Good Sam are honored to be the presenting sponsor for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for the fourth consecutive year. Now in conjunction with AutoMatch USA and 1-800-Car-Cash, the four companies are proud to partner with St. Jude in its pioneering work focused on finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. We appreciate your support of this event as, together, we positively impact this worthwhile and pure cause. Working together, we will one day realize Danny Thomas’ dream that no child shall die in the dawn of life. Our companies place a high value on philanthropy, having recently launched ‘Project Good Samaritan,’ an ongoing program which fosters social responsibility and the betterment of our communities. Through this initiative, employees support charitable organizations and participate in projects within their communities. This is consistent with the 1966 charter of the Good Sam Club: “People Helping People.” Collectively led by CEO Marcus Lemonis, Camping World is America’s #1 source for RVs, camping accessories, RV maintenance and repair, while Good Sam is the world’s largest RV owners organization. AutoMatch USA is a foreign and domestic pre-owned automotive dealership, while 1-800-Car-Cash is an automobile buying service customers can depend on for reliability and top price.

‘Kickin’ Cancer In The A$$’

P u l l i n g TogeTher

Upon learning that Hannah had a medical problem, CaTHy did what mothers do... She was there, for her daughter, every minute. and, of course, she cried. BOB met with the doctors and the hospital. BenJaMIn did communications to family and friends. J ereMy kept an eye on Mom...and was her great comfort.and HannaH was very busy, “KICKIn’ CanCer In THe aSS”.

So here’s to the BREIT ones:

Sometimes things transpire in life that take our breath away. One such thing happened last January. At the age of 24, my beautiful, smart, funny, poised, passionate, sassy daughter was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer while studying Endocrinology in medical school. In a fleeting moment, our lives were in turmoil. We are one of the lucky ones. As she stated: ‘On the BREIT side, this is a very treatable cancer…basically the best cancer a girl could hope for.’ None of us is immune to the horror of cancer in our children Join with me and recommit to eradicate this vicious disease. So that none of our children will ever have to tell us, “Don’t worry, Mom. I am going to kick cancer in the A$$.

See ya never, cancer!” - Cathy Shaker Breit & Family 34

THANK YOU to our favorite #20 Chicago Blackhawk’s Brandon Saad

You helped us raise awareness and funds for the kids of St. Jude We thank you-#teamsaad20 55

The St. Jude Young Professionals Board of Chicago is thrilled to announce that through the generosity of their supporters in 2014, they were able to raise over $100,000 for the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, most of which was raised at the 13th Annual Harvest Moon gala in October! Guests tasted hors d’oeuvres provided by Chicago’s top restaurants, sipped cocktails, danced to live music, and at the same time—gave to help ensure that no family ever pays St. Jude for anything.

Get involved and make friends as you help raise funds—joining in the fight against pediatric cancer—and helping St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital continue to find cures that save lives. Visit their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/stjudeypchicago for updates on their 2015 fundraising events! If you are interested in joining the St. Jude Young Professionals, please email lexi.fiedler@stjude.org and/or chris.oconnell3@gmail.com for more information.
