Type 5 adenovirus, belonging to species C adenoviruses, is a linear double-stranded DNA virus with a diameter of about 80-120 nm. It can rapidly infect mitotic and non-mitotic cells. After binding to cell surface receptors, it enters the cells through endocytosis, gathers near the nuclear pore, and releases the DNA of adenovirus into the nucleus after infection and starts protein expression.
